Did I Measure Up?

Monday, April 26, 2010

Wow! My measurements are all about an inch or 2 lower.
So, I should be proud, right?
Well, I am...sort of...
You see, my hips measure an inch larger. Imagine that!
Since my husband likes my hips, should I appreciate the gain or write it off as a possible "mis-measurement" from the previous reading?
So, I ask myself, "Did I measure up to my expectations?"
Arsenio Hall moment, "Hhhmmmmm..."

1st Track Meet of the Season

Sunday, April 11, 2010

Well, today was my 12 year old-middle child's- track meet- note that it was cold and rainy for the first 4 hours.
She runs so well and so fast. I am really proud of her!
My husband and I agreed to allow her to have a laptop(of her own) if she wins a certain number of meets (a fair number of course). This is an agreement she enjoys and is ready to accept the challenge!
It makes me wonder what I should do to reward myself once I run a greater distance.

Should I revamp my goals?
Should I strive to run a marathon?
Hmmm. Please provide feedback.

Coping on a Road Trip

Monday, April 05, 2010

Late at night, the Thursday before Good Friday, we (the family) venture on the open highway for a five-hour ride to Dallas, TX.
The kids are all on their own "entertainment" timing . Yes, ranging from 6 to 16 in a car is an adventure in itself. The youngest wants to look outside the window and map the route for later recall. The middle child, 12 yrs old, wants to tease the youngest and bother the oldest. Meanwhile the oldest simply wants to be left alone while listening to music (drowning out the rest of the world).
I, the passenger, attempt to keep the driver company while reading articles on Sparkpeople.com.
My eyes close periodically to the occasional grunt of "Uh huh..." Yes, I pretend to be listening to a few conversations about other drivers.
Snacks in the car are in my purse - yes, MY snacks.
I laugh at my oldest daughter saying, "These honey buns taste awful!" She says they had an aftertaste and "stick to the roof" of her mouth.
My response, "Since they were 88 cents, I guess you get what you pay for..."
I just love road trips with the family!!!

Well, I'm So Over It!!!

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

'Started off well for breakfast with a nutritious meal: Maple Crunch cereal with 5 strawberries. Lunch was pretty descent too- salad with pecans, cranberries, and grilled chicken. Sounds acceptable right? Then got home from a BUSY day's work. Discovered a bit of an appetite.
So I grabbed a bagel with 2 tsp of whipped cream -still not bad. Suddenly, while cooking... I made some guacamole. Avacodoes and tomatoes sounds decent enough. Then I'll get 2 more servings of veggies/fruits...Right? WRONG! Oh how wrong I was!
Portion control woman!!! It's "help me now" time at this point because I locate tortilla chips to dip them in. The rest is history. ..So now I'M OVER IT!!!

Yes, I'm over the speed limit. Shouldn't I get a ticket for failure to stop before disaster? AArrrgh!!!
