Late at night, the Thursday before Good Friday, we (the family) venture on the open highway for a five-hour ride to Dallas, TX.
The kids are all on their own "entertainment" timing . Yes, ranging from 6 to 16 in a car is an adventure in itself. The youngest wants to look outside the window and map the route for later recall. The middle child, 12 yrs old, wants to tease the youngest and bother the oldest. Meanwhile the oldest simply wants to be left alone while listening to music (drowning out the rest of the world).
I, the passenger, attempt to keep the driver company while reading articles on Sparkpeople.com.
My eyes close periodically to the occasional grunt of "Uh huh..." Yes, I pretend to be listening to a few conversations about other drivers.
Snacks in the car are in my purse - yes, MY snacks.
I laugh at my oldest daughter saying, "These honey buns taste awful!" She says they had an aftertaste and "stick to the roof" of her mouth.
My response, "Since they were 88 cents, I guess you get what you pay for..."
I just love road trips with the family!!!
