Honestly, I am really starting to wonder if me being on a program is not in the cards for me. And you say, why do you say this? Well let me explain. Every time I have started something (program) that I really want to try and stick to, whether it be nutrition and exercise and also b/c I want to see if it really works for me, something happens to shut it all down and not be able to continue. I mean seriously I cannot even finish out a 30 day program.
For instance today was going to be Day 1 of Jackie Warner 10x10 Program. I mean I shopped at Central Market yesterday on my lunch break got everything I needed even getting organic which was pricier. I started off my day well, I ate the breakfast I was supposed to 1/4 cup plain oatmeal with 1 plain walnut (which I crunched and put in the oatmeal b/c it tasted like cardboard), 1/2 grapefruit and 1 cup green tea, I had to get used to the tea, I am a water only drinker. After my MRI today I had my apple and 8 almonds for my snack and water.
Then I was on my way home after dropping off the films at the dr's office and hubby calls and says please come have lunch with me (I had time before my other appts), and this DOES NOT HAPPEN very often as he works an hour away and it was a treat to see him. BUT I didn't eat the lunch I was supposed to on the plan. And trust me in this little country town cafe we went too, they do not have sprouts, sprouted bread, etc. So I opted for a turkey wrap in a whole grain wheat tortilla, it was really thin but the wrap was huge!!! Yes, I hate to admit it I ate it all! It was tasty and the ingredients were really fresh. Then I was supposed to come home and workout Day 1 of program BUT I had some things to take care of for my middle son in Virginia re: his medical records he is thinking of enlisting. YIKES!!!
Needless to say by the time I got home I was EXHAUSTED what did I do? I MADE BROWNIES! This is not on the program. I am going to call this a WASH and start Day 1 tomorrow. (Problem is Friday we are having dinner with my hubby's boss and his wife at Birroperriti's (ITALIAN)! I will see if they have what I need to eat, OH BOY. Honestly, I don't want to stop my life and not be able to do anything for 30 days but that is what I feel like.
So, tomorrow starts Day 1 of Jackie Warner 10x10 program, wish me luck and pray nothing else deters me especially with my crazy body.
Until tomorrow, Maria

Well on Monday me and my sister had dinner with my friend's daughters who passed in January (SADNESS BLOG). We had such a great time and it was so good to see them. The oldest daughter was just hugging me like there was no tomorrow when I first picked them up and when we left the restaurant. She needed that hug, she almost didn't want to let go.
I waited towards the end of the evening/dinner to finally ask about their mom, my friend. The youngest daughter who was closer to her mom, said that she went in for a "routine" colonscopy but the doctor saw a shawdow so he wanted to perform laperscopic surgery on her, so they set it up for December 30th. This is when the dr nicked her small intestines (thereby releasing the poison into her body that breaks down our foods, I cannot remember what it is called). (Sidenote: I wonder how in the world he nicked her b/c there are no knives etc. involved in laperscopic, if someone can figure this out please educate me on that). She never made it out of the hospital after this she was in ICE from then until her b-day on Jan. 26th. Her daughter kept checking on her telling her something is wrong. She kept telling her mother it looks like you have fluid in your stomach why is it so swollen, my friend would dismiss her daughter and say it's swollen b/c of surgery. Then the next day she went to the bathroom and her urine had been discharged but not flushed, it was all blood, she got another nurse asked what was that! That just isn't right so finally they got a head nurse. Youngest daughter said during this whole time the dr never saw her after surgery he would send his "staff" to check on her, that seemed odd to me.
This is the eerie/shocked blessed part: My sister who has been in the medical field for over 25 years asks this question that I had not asked" What hospital and what doctor? She said the doctor's name and I about feel off the chair in teh resturant! That was MY DOCTOR! Though I had not seen him in like 4 years. The past 3 years I had kept wanting to make my appt for my colonoscopy b/c of our history in our family we have to do it every 3 years. However, every time I went to make the appt, something would stop me, someone called, I had work to do, etc. and other times I just got this uneasy feeling and I would hang up the phone before his office answered. So, I never went to see him again. The doctor that did my recent colonoscopy was referred to me by my dysautomonia dr. they work at the same clinic just different specilities.
I always say things happen for a reason. The whole way home, I kept saying Thank you God for always taking care of me like you do. I am so grateful and truly blessed.

I recently learned that one of my really good friends, passed away on her birthday in January. I had been thinking about her alot lately, and when I think of someone that way something is usually going on with them, so I tried to contact her several times, left her voice mail messages, texts, even sent her a letter to her home with all my new info (since I gotten married 7 years ago, she probably didn't have my new info). Her husband called me back and broke the news to me that she went in for "routine" surgery in December, the doctor nicked her intestines and she passed away on her birthday January 26th. I felt horrible for a couple of reasons (1) I always called her on her birthday and this year for some reason I didn't call her, I could make up lots of excuses like I was going through alot of medical issues in January BUT I still should have called her. And (2) I feel guilty that I have been through so many "routine" surgeries over the past couple of years and I am still here. She was the most wonderful Christian faithful woman I know (next to my mother). I tell you it sure makes you appreciate life alot more.
I got her daughters phone numbers and I will be calling them to arrange a time to meet up. Her husband told me where she is laid to rest so I am going to go visit her.
Life is short, tell your loved ones you love them each and every day.

Omgosh ya'll I have been so busy with work and then medical issues, that I go straight home from work and go straight to bed and wake up and do it all over again Monday - Friday and most my weekends I spend resting and sleeping just to make it through another work week. Not a way to live, have to change something. So, I apologize if I have not been sparking, keeping up with my buddies, posting, etc.
So, my biopsy of the throat was yesterday. First, they tell me you will probably have bruising I say there is not probably I will I am on blood thinners. The nurse said usually we require you to be off the blood thinners for 3 days! I said well when I made the appt I asked is there anything I need to do to prepare for this, not do, stop any medications, etc. She said NO! They told me they would speak to this person. So, they said they would do it BUT if I bleed too much they would stop and I would have to come back. I prayed oh Lord no, help me here b/c I don't want to come back. I not gonna lie, I was nervous I have had needles everywhere else on my body except my neck. The doctor then came in he did make me feel comfortable so that was good. Also, when they say this is not so bad, they LIED! I could feel the needle so they had to put more numbing stuff on my neck. I had four needles. I bleed some but not bad enough to stop. PRAISE THE LORD FOR THAT. But afterwards, I could not turn my head, it hurt to swallow even worse than I am now and it just plain hurt. I couldn't even sleep last night, I could not find a comfortable spot.
Well then after this biopsy went to my next appt (my normal standard 3 week follow-up with the dysautonomia specliast). Since my sypmtoms are going backwards, he said I am having too much sugar! DUH, I know I am b/c under stress what do we woman go for? THE SWEETS (Well at least this chica does!). He also gives me the results of the sleep study. My brain/I wake up 17 times an HOUR! Seriously, 17 times an hour! He said no wonder you are tired all the time. So, next step is to do another sleep study with the mask or some thingy with the nose. He has also referred me to an Ear, Nose Throat doctor b/c my voice has been hoarse for 3 weeks now. Oh, and I gained 10 lbs in one week! That has got to stop!!!!! MARIA PUT DOWN THE SPRINKLES CUPCAKE!
Then I get home and I get a phone call from Shape Magazine because I have won a BIKE! Seriously, this was not a joke. I love reading Shape Magazine and I also like entering some of the races they advertise in there like Diva Dash. So, I usually enter the daily giveaways in the magazine online, never did I think I would win anything but fun to enter just in case right? Well I WON I WON I WON I WON I WON a BIKE! Hubby and I have to go bike shop here in Houston so they can measure me and get the specs to have the bike built. We go to the bike shop here, we send the specs to Shape Magazine who will take care of everything with the Bike shop here in Houston and then I go pick up the bike when it is ready! My husband was cracking up at me last night b/c as much as my neck hurt and it hurt to talk, I was walking around the house saying I WON I WON I WON A BIKE!
Well I better get back to work enoughing goofing off.
Ya'll have a great and AWESOME DAY/WEEK.
Until next time
Maria
