whats good for the dog

Monday, February 21, 2011

I have recently discovered, and I wont tell you how, that my poor little dog, has a digestive problem.
So, I guess its not just us. Maybe dogs, especially little house dogs, pick up our bad habits.
Or, maybe, (i say with a red face), owners give in to their cute little faces and feed them things they shouldnt.
I have learned this lesson.
So, after some reading on the subject, I have learned, that more fiber, while good for us, isnt so great for dogs.
Soy, good for us, bad for dogs.
I have purchased snacks and dog food, with no soy and low in fiber.
My dog, isnt liking this new diet of his.
As most of us hate to eat healthy foods at first. I have to get him used to the taste.
I bought him some tablets to take to help allieviate this smelly problem, and he took one sniff and ran away.
This will be the tough part, trying to get him to take the tablets.
I know eventually he will eat the food, because he isnt getting anything else.
I hope his little system gets straightened out soon.
I also learned, that plain yogurt....good for humans, good for dogs as well.

It is amazing how feeding your dogs the right stuff will really help them. I have a 15 year old Lab back at home that still runs up and down steps and is full of energy. (deaf though)

They will eat and get to like it once their system gets used to it.

I have two little dogs and it's sometimes very frustrating to get them to eat.

Try a little olive oil on your finger and on the food. he'll taste the olive oil and your finger can bring him to the plate , he'll lick the Olive oil on the plate then hopefully eat the food.

Try KEEN. Dog food By the Honest Kitchen. For a big guy it may be pricey but for a little guy or gal it will last 6mo. (there is keen and several other kinds)

Or get a box and throw some on top of the food.

It's great for them!

maybe the cold isnt so bad

Wow, I feel like a total moron....I get my chicken all ready to put in the oven, I checked the oven....but I guess my eyes arent what they used to be.
I put the chicken in, come to the computer and five minutes later I begin to smell something awful.
So, I rush into the kitchen to find a lid to a plastic tupperware bowl had been left in the oven and had began to melt all down the back of the grill, and onto the bottom surface.
Luckily, I was able to remove everything and scrape it out with a spatula, without burning myself.
And no plastic got near my chicken.
But the funky smell in the house will stick around for sure.
The winds outside remind me of March.
It was so nice here today, spring in the air, I cleaned out my car, and even partially cleaned out the trunk.
But the wind was so bad, I couldnt stay out for very long.
It reminds me that summer is so close, and I look forward to the warm days....and nights.
But of course, not having to go anyplace, since my car refuses to allow air conditioning.
My car is a 2004, and the a/c hasnt worked since around 06/ or 07.
I have had the a/c compressor motor replaced, I have had it charged, I have had everything I can think of done.
But alas, no ac.
I do try to do my errands early, but it doesnt always work out.
I usually end up having to take along wet wipes and an extra blouse.
Keep a thick towel over my seat to keep me from getting drenched.
I cant trade, I have a mortgage payment.
Oh well, life goes on.
I will enjoy the cooler temps a while longer afterall.
Been riding my bike, why do my legs hurt so bad, from the ankles to the knees hurts like mad when I ride.
I keep peddling but I have to stop and let the pain subside.
Wishing all of you good luck and keep working hard.

We all have those moron moments. I'm glad you were able to catch yours in time to clean it up and save the chicken. The wind is blowing like crazy here, too. I am staying inside. When I have to go somewhere, I run to the car and then into the shop or such. Once this storm has passed through, the weather should be lovely for a while. Hope yours is also.

My bathroom is clean!
Almost, I still have laundry to fold and put away, and the tub needs a serious scrub, but I usually ask Honey to do that on his day off.
What a way to spend a day off.
But hes a good sport, most of the time.
I just very suddenly decided to clean my bathroom.
My kitchen is half way there.
I wont even discuss the bedroom.
As for me, I have had a day that is only half good and half bad.
I re-learned a lesson today about lending to a relative.
That is one lesson that I wont have to be taught again anytime soon!
My back still aches, but I am learning to live with it, the shiatusu massaging chair pad is helpful, sometimes.
If you went to your doctor and they said to you, you have a large tumor and the only thing that is going to help you is to have surgery to remove it....you would, wouldnt you?
Wouldnt your doctor insist you have the surgery?
Or if it were a cancer, he would insist you would have the surgery....or lets say, any other problem in the body, be it hemmoroids, or bad tonsils, etc....most doctors and most patients would agree that surgery would be the saving grace.
So, why is it that I have been fighting with my insurance company for at least 5 years or more to get a breast reduction surgery?
And they keep telling me it isnt medically necessary, its cosmetic and they wont pay?
My doctor, or doctors, as I have had many thru the years, from chiropractors to neurologists, ob/gyns...gp's, etc, tell me, the best thing for my back pain, would be breast reduction surgery, and yet, they keep fighting me.
But, this is one battle I intend to win!!!!
I hurt all the time now, I will fight, if I have to take it to a judge I will. And it is beginning to look that way.
Have a good weekend to all.

thanks for the comments everyone, my best friend had it done 2 years ago and she feels so much better, i have been fighting that long, but i have a pretty good feeling about the doctor i am going to, i really believe they are going to push for me. honey of course says if i need it he will finance it, but why should we have to do that, isnt that what insurance is for?

Good luck dealing with insurance companies....yuck! But the common sense involved should prevail.

Good luck. We had a sub that had breast reduction surgery for her back. She was so thrilled. Not only did her back quit hurting, but she had a perky chest. That was the pleasant surprise she was not anticipating. No sag.

keep jammin'....

Saturday, January 15, 2011

The weather.
It seems to be on my mind alot lately. I cant seem to ever be warm....I can remember (back in the day)...when I ran around the house in shorts and a tshirt in the dead of winter, so socks on my feet, and I loved it.
When did this change?
Anyway, I have been feeling a sore throat coming the last day or two and now its here.
Taking tylenol and munching on Hall's Breezers.
They arent overwhelming like some of Hall's sore throat lozenges.
Fruity taste.
Wednesday my son will turn 26...I know, pick your jaws up off of the floor, yes I am old enough to have a son that age....cuz I had him at age 17.
But I do hope he has finally found some happiness in his life.
I am still searching for total happiness, I dont think any of us will ever achieve that....I mean, we are only human.
Good luck to all.
Keep jammin'.

I am freezing most of the time too. People here say it is due to weight loss, but that only makes partial sense to me. With weight loss and increased stamina should come better blood circulation....so why are my fingers cold?

I like the "Keep Jammin" too, nice thought.
