and up and down

Thursday, February 24, 2011

I received my air stepper today. I got on, once it was ready to go, and started stepping, I thought, wow, this was a big waste of money. How can I possibly get any kind of work out on this contraption?
But, after about 3, maybe 4 minutes, I really began to feel it in my legs.
It came with two instructional dvds, with different workouts to follow. And a set of stretch bands, that you can place underneath it and use while stepping.
It probably isnt the same as a real stair climbing machine.....but, it seems to be what was advertised.
I look forward to using it more.
I had to create a new email address today, as my yahoo address, and well, all of yahoo has been giving me problems.
I couldnt even read a news story on yahoo, it would click off and give me a message, from blue lithium, saying internet connection lost and directed me to an ad.
A virus?
maybe, but I seem to have remedied the problem, for now.
My back is hurting tonight, so I am taking it kind of easy.
Going to watch my favorite "mindless tv programming"...Jersey Shore, and relax tonight.
Good luck to everyone.
Keep in touch!!!!

yea that might help me, the instructions are to place it next to an object you can hold onto when first getting on....until you get used to it.
so i sat it next to my bike and used my bike handle for support.
but once i got the hang of it, it was nothing to stand on.
my problem, i have very short legs.

I am glad you liked the air stepper, those bands would be something I would like as I am not very coordinated and I would hope they would aid in balance?

Keep moving forward.

2 out of 1000000 aint bad

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

As I had blogged yesterday, I was dreading today, I didnt go into detail, I will just say it involved my son and some problem he had to take care of.
It isnt over yet, so I have to deal with the dread for another 8 days, hopefully it will all work out.
I let that stress get to me and I didnt do well today in the food department.
I ate foods I wont mention....but I did track, as ashamed as I was to do so.

Letting outside stressors get to me and ruin my day, my week, my month!!!
I am going to ride my bike in a few minutes and hopefully try to salvage some of this day.
At least the weather was nicer today.
I know we are due some rain, my electric bill came down over 100 dollars since last month....so there are a few things to this day that werent all bad.

I hope to get back on the track soon. I have several friends who want to walk, but they are more into it for a social thing.
When I walk, I like to do so alone....just me and my thoughts.
I like the company, but talking and walking for me dont mix. I think I might do it once in a while, just for the company and friendship, but for serious exercise....I walk alone.
Good luck to everyone, and survive the weekend.

I'm the same way about walking/jogging. My aunt wants to walk with me, but she keeps talking and I just want to zone out to my music. Once in awhile I'm sure it would be fun, but you do what you need to to stay motivated and on track.

And you're right, today wasn't good but tomorrow might be better. In the end, this was one day in a million. Don't let it be more than that ;)

the little things

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

My nephew just went home with his mom.
This statement is about the happiest thing I have written all day. The little guy was only here about an hour and a half...but I felt like it was six or eight hours at least.
Maybe its just me, I am not around little kids alot. I dont want to be one of those grippy old ladies, who snaps at kids.
But he is getting that talk back and mock phase. He has always repeated everything you say back to you, in a question form, if you say, the sky is blue, he says, the sky is blue?
But lately, its become, mocking, like repeating it back in that sing song little voice.
Oh my nerves. I am reminded why I only had one child.
I love the little guy, but about once a week is plenty for me.
I had an overall good day, calorie wise. I am getting ready to get on my bike with the Biggest Loser and ride.
I bought something thru QVC, I like to call it an impulse buy, but not sure it can be considered an impulse, since I had to get my credit card out of my bag, and enter all the info...haha.
But it is called a air stepper....anyone? It is similar to a stair climber, only without the handrails, it works I guess by pumping air into the springs, I will find out when it arrives, which should be in a week or less.
I maybe should have thought it thru, as it doesnt have hand holds, and I am very unbalanced...(in more ways that one)....but, I guess I can find something to hold onto.
I cant wait for warmer weather to go walking more. I just cant stand the treadmill anymore, I get bored and distracted way to easily.
Well, tomorrow is going to be a very very trying day for me. While I am sure it will be over quickly, the outcome might be the hard part.
I dont want to go into great detail.
I will tell more about when once its over and behind me, GOD please let it be behind me fast.
Hope all of you have a good night, and tomorrow is much less stressful for all of you.

I have seen the air-stepper, it took some time to get used to.

As far as the other thing, hope it gets behind you fast.

whats good for the dog

Monday, February 21, 2011

I have recently discovered, and I wont tell you how, that my poor little dog, has a digestive problem.
So, I guess its not just us. Maybe dogs, especially little house dogs, pick up our bad habits.
Or, maybe, (i say with a red face), owners give in to their cute little faces and feed them things they shouldnt.
I have learned this lesson.
So, after some reading on the subject, I have learned, that more fiber, while good for us, isnt so great for dogs.
Soy, good for us, bad for dogs.
I have purchased snacks and dog food, with no soy and low in fiber.
My dog, isnt liking this new diet of his.
As most of us hate to eat healthy foods at first. I have to get him used to the taste.
I bought him some tablets to take to help allieviate this smelly problem, and he took one sniff and ran away.
This will be the tough part, trying to get him to take the tablets.
I know eventually he will eat the food, because he isnt getting anything else.
I hope his little system gets straightened out soon.
I also learned, that plain yogurt....good for humans, good for dogs as well.

It is amazing how feeding your dogs the right stuff will really help them. I have a 15 year old Lab back at home that still runs up and down steps and is full of energy. (deaf though)

They will eat and get to like it once their system gets used to it.

I have two little dogs and it's sometimes very frustrating to get them to eat.

Try a little olive oil on your finger and on the food. he'll taste the olive oil and your finger can bring him to the plate , he'll lick the Olive oil on the plate then hopefully eat the food.

Try KEEN. Dog food By the Honest Kitchen. For a big guy it may be pricey but for a little guy or gal it will last 6mo. (there is keen and several other kinds)

Or get a box and throw some on top of the food.

It's great for them!

maybe the cold isnt so bad

Thursday, February 17, 2011

Wow, I feel like a total moron....I get my chicken all ready to put in the oven, I checked the oven....but I guess my eyes arent what they used to be.
I put the chicken in, come to the computer and five minutes later I begin to smell something awful.
So, I rush into the kitchen to find a lid to a plastic tupperware bowl had been left in the oven and had began to melt all down the back of the grill, and onto the bottom surface.
Luckily, I was able to remove everything and scrape it out with a spatula, without burning myself.
And no plastic got near my chicken.
But the funky smell in the house will stick around for sure.
The winds outside remind me of March.
It was so nice here today, spring in the air, I cleaned out my car, and even partially cleaned out the trunk.
But the wind was so bad, I couldnt stay out for very long.
It reminds me that summer is so close, and I look forward to the warm days....and nights.
But of course, not having to go anyplace, since my car refuses to allow air conditioning.
My car is a 2004, and the a/c hasnt worked since around 06/ or 07.
I have had the a/c compressor motor replaced, I have had it charged, I have had everything I can think of done.
But alas, no ac.
I do try to do my errands early, but it doesnt always work out.
I usually end up having to take along wet wipes and an extra blouse.
Keep a thick towel over my seat to keep me from getting drenched.
I cant trade, I have a mortgage payment.
Oh well, life goes on.
I will enjoy the cooler temps a while longer afterall.
Been riding my bike, why do my legs hurt so bad, from the ankles to the knees hurts like mad when I ride.
I keep peddling but I have to stop and let the pain subside.
Wishing all of you good luck and keep working hard.

We all have those moron moments. I'm glad you were able to catch yours in time to clean it up and save the chicken. The wind is blowing like crazy here, too. I am staying inside. When I have to go somewhere, I run to the car and then into the shop or such. Once this storm has passed through, the weather should be lovely for a while. Hope yours is also.
