dog doodie!!!

Sunday, September 05, 2010

I have decided to go to kmart or some yard sale orsuch and look for a small baby playpen....either that or spend a fortune on a doggie pen.
My little dog Sparky is around 7...not exactly old, but no spring chicken, or pup, in this case. About 3 times in the last month, I have woken to a mess in my kitchen.
Now, I dont get angry, or berate him, because I understand he might not be able to hold it. He is very small, about 8 lbs, and has, I assume, a very small bladder and bowel.
At least when he goes in the kitchen its very easy to clean, being a hard wood laminate, concoction.
I hate this so bad, because I realize he is beginning to age, and small dogs like this do have health issues.
People want small breeds and so breeders are breeding them to be smaller and smaller. Not realizing they will have special needs sometimes.
He has a limp, which I suspect is the reason why the owner couldnt sell him, so he was given to my son as a graduation gift.
We have had him since he was a few months old.
Another reason this might be happening is, my hubby works nights...And its been hard for me to take him out walking, So I pretty much turn him out in our yard, which is huge and he has plenty of safe space to run and do his business.
However, my neighbor has a pitbull, well he actually has 3, and before you get the wrong idea, I am not putting down pitbulls, as I own one myself. Howver, my neighbor sometimes lets his dog run loose late at night.
I guess, much like myself, so he doesnt wake up to accidents in the morning.
The dog is friendly enough, but he has charged across our driveway on more than one occassion, toward my little dog.
So, I havent been taking my dog out really late. I try to feed him no later in the day than 6pm, and make sure he goes out at least 2 times before 9pm.
This usually works.
Our outside light screwed up this week and its pitch black out, so I will not be taking him out after dark until it is fixed.
And, I tried him on a new food this week, so that might play a role.
Well, I am taking him to the vet next week for a checkup and will ask the vet about it, but I have decided a playpen type fence of some kind and maybe even doggie diapers.
does anyone else use the doggie diapers?
I am wondering if he wouldnt just chew on them?
Have a safe and fun holiday weekend and be mindful of crazy drivers.

Do you believe in curses? Or Karma?
I sometimes believe, sometimes not.
Anyway, if there is such a thing as a curse, I must have been. It just feels that way sometimes.
The problems we were, and still are having with our electricity is still going on. Honey changed out some breakers inside the house. But I truly believe the problem is outside in the power box. Or, coming down from the main line someplace.
Anyway, I may be here and I may not be.
I have digital cable and everytime the power knocks or surges or blinks, my digital box goes blank...I noticed this 2 times last night. And once I was sitting here on the pc, when I noticed the lamp next to me got real bright for just a second and the fan slowed, then started back up again.
Here alone at night, and this stuff happens, I freaked out, so I heard a kind of a roar noise, like the sound you hear when the power goes off and comes back on again real fast. I just ended up throwing the main breaker, and cutting off all the power.
I didnt know what else to do, but sit with a candle burning until honey got off work.
I cant wait until we can move, but its looking like it might be up to 2 years. So, some major work needs to be done here and I guess we just have to buckle down and get to work.

My vote, hire someone..But honey is one of these men who thinks he can do it himself, if he just has enough time to figure out the problem, the thing is, he DOESNT have the time, he works up to 12 hours a day and sometimes more.
Right now, I would just as soon be on the Eastern seaboard with Earl.

not again.....bad wiring and fear

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

February, 2009, I had been doing laundry and cooking supper, I cannot recall now what I had been cooking, but I do remember, it wasnt quite done, I had turned the oven back on for a few minutes to let it cook some more. Hubby had just called to tell me he was on his way home, it was around 5 in the evening.
All of the sudden, I heard what sounded like a truck (a great big truck) turning over on top of my house, I heard a sound I wont ever forget, and yet, I cant describe....the lights began to blink and the appliances, everything was going on and off, on and off.
I ran thru the house cutting everything off and ran and flipped the main breaker inside the breaker box.
I opened my front door to see if the world was coming to an end, and I saw my neighbor running pointing, so I walked out onto my porch and from over the roof I could see smoke billowing out.
I grabbed my dog first and then the phone and out the door I went, I called 911, and asked for the fire department, I explained what had happened, and once I was out to the back I could see it was coming from the electrical box.
Just inches from the wall of the house. I called hubby and told him to hurry, he was only minutes away.
By the time he got here and the fire dept guy came, the smoke had settled to a low roll and the sparks had stopped.
It was a wire or a breaker had blown out. Old wiring, shotty work I guess. The fire department man pulled the breaker out and called the power company. They sent a guy to disconnect my power from the main line.
So, the land lord let us stay in his other trailer next door for 2 nights, and he paid a guy to come and fix the breaker.
The last several weeks I have noticed things. The refrigerator kicks in, the kitchen light goes faintly dim.
The washer kicks to spin, the bathroom light dims.
The microwave, set on high power runs as though its on low. Hubby, thinking it was a breaker inside, checked the box and changed out one breaker. Didnt fix the problem.
And yesterday, I noticed my tv was blurry. About 8pm last night the picture went out on most channels and yet a few were decent. Some were rolling and some had no sound. Then I noticed my internet was off. OH THE HUMANITY!!!!!
I began calling neighbors and relatives to inquire if anyone else was experiencing this. NO....So, I put in a call to my cable provider and today they sent a guy out. He climbed up onto the pole and fixed it.
But when he came back he told us that whatever had caused my cable/internet to mess up, came from the power....he said there had been a power surge somewhere in the line and that when he went to check the outside cable box, he could hear a noise in our outside breaker.
I have been freakin out all evening, honey had to go to work and I went thru the house unplugging every appliance, except the tv and computer, lets not get crazy just yet.
But, I am worried sick the same thing will happen again.
And a fire scares me silly.
We are planning to move soon, as this is an old structure and the wiring, we have known for some time is faulty.
Lets just hope we can make it a few more days until we can get an electrician out to check it, my son, being an electricians helper, who never completed his training....wants to come check it out.
I love him and want him to continue his career, but I dont think I want to be the guinea pig.
If I am not online in the am, You all can guess things went from bad to worse.

high school football

Friday, August 27, 2010

i am sitting here tracking and listening to the local high school football bowl game.
my team is winning at the moment, did you ever notice how biased the announcers sound? it is almost as if they are disappointed that the team is winning and they just cannot understand why the other team is losing.
ticks me off, i am happy at the moment my team is ahead by 18 in the 4th quarter.
i miss football season, when my son played, i worked the boosters, i was the treasurer and i worked the concessions and fund raisers.
it kept me busy during this time of year, and we had a tradition....every friday night... after the game, on the way home, we would stop off at the grocery and pick up cans of chicken noodle soup, as it was usually chilly at night, and come home and eat soup....and watch the highlights on the news.
i miss those days.
i have gone over my calories today, i dont know, im not obsessing over it, but disappointed, dont know why i did it.....i just felt like eating.
i hope everyone has a good weekend and GO WATCH SOME FOOTBALL....

Evening is my hardest time too. I have to make sure I've saved enough calories to eat a healthy but substntial dinner so that I'm not tempted to snack later out of hunger. I've also learned to make myself a nice big mug of herbal (decaf) tea each night - it soothes me, fills my tummy, helps me unwind, and keeps me hydrated. Reading Spark articles on those eves I'm at risk of filling a void with food also helps me keep focused.
