Polishing my Silver Today ... Wii Fit Plus Style

Thursday, May 10, 2012

What a thrill! Two months ago I rediscovered a valuable piece of fitness equipment that, as far as I was concerned, was collecting dust in our home: Wii Fit Plus.

Thanks to SparkPeople and the Challenge Chicks in the Wii Fit Plus SparkTeam, I'm now using Wii Fit Plus as my own in-house gym. The challenges are forcing me to try activities and exercises that I feared.

Well, it's paying off! Today, I'm proud to announce, I reached 20 hours of Wii Fit Plus activity so now my Wii Fit Bank is SILVER!

In order to maintain that shiny glow, I'll keep on feeding my piggy with minutes everyday! So, now I'll go relish in my newly polished Silver Fit Bank!

Just like Kickin' the Tires

Wednesday, May 09, 2012

Being in the market for a new pair of cross-training shoes has taught me a great deal about purpose, style, functionality, etc. There is so much information to sift through it can be overwhelming.

Once my podiatrist told me that athletic shoe companies change their styles and models about every 6 months. He said it's to make money and at that time I believed him.

His comment may be one reason to switch up your athletic shoes. But here's another very good reason to get a new pair of sneakers: the treads wear off your shoes after about 400-600 miles of walking or running. And, just like other athletic wardrobe essentials, they can lose their shape if you are hard on this important piece of equipment.

So, not unlike checking the tires of my car periodically for wear and tear, now I'll have to start checking the treads on my sneakers to make sure they aren't worn beyond their usefulness.

Who'd have thought it?!

Today I purchased a lime green skinny hOOp. Would you believe that I haven't owned one of these since childhood. Now to stick to my goal of 10 min a day to improve my waistline!

How SparkTeam Challenges are Educational for Me

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Thank you, DollyHolly! Your SparkTeam Wii Fit Plus Weekly Challenges are helping me grow.

Here's how...

1. There are Wii Fit exercises I never thought I could do that I'm at least trying now because of the weekly challenges.

2. The SparkPeople I'm meeting on this SparkTeam are wonderful! Many are now my SparkFriends and motivating catalysts, too!

3. SparkPeople.com has many easy shortcuts and untapped features that I am only now discovering and exploring more fully as a result of the weekly challenges.

4. Last, but certainly not least, I'm more aware of my personal strengths and weaknesses. (And my REAL AGE, according to Wii Fit, anyway, which tends to fluxuate from week to week!)

So, there you have it! Just a few of the many ways SparkTeam Wii Fit Plus Challenges have taught this old gal some new tricks!
