Being in the market for a new pair of cross-training shoes has taught me a great deal about purpose, style, functionality, etc. There is so much information to sift through it can be overwhelming.
Once my podiatrist told me that athletic shoe companies change their styles and models about every 6 months. He said it's to make money and at that time I believed him.
His comment may be one reason to switch up your athletic shoes. But here's another very good reason to get a new pair of sneakers: the treads wear off your shoes after about 400-600 miles of walking or running. And, just like other athletic wardrobe essentials, they can lose their shape if you are hard on this important piece of equipment.
So, not unlike checking the tires of my car periodically for wear and tear, now I'll have to start checking the treads on my sneakers to make sure they aren't worn beyond their usefulness.
Who'd have thought it?!
