Today: National Plan Your Epitaph Day

Thursday, November 01, 2012

Haven't you ever thought about this? I know I have, though there is nothing concrete, as yet!
emoticon

Well.....Today is a day for worst-case-scenario thinkers and control freaks to plan out exactly what their gravestone is going to say. It's usually short, concise, and sometimes funny. Twitters might think of it as their very last Tweet. Though I doubt that 140 characters might not fit on the standard tombstone!

So go and make my mark on this world! Your epitaph may just write itself.

I want to be cremated. I don't want a big funeral and wake. I just want my friends and family to celebrate my life instead and remember me for who I am and the life that I lived. I don't want them to only remember my death.

I don't plan to have a tomb stone. I want them to just throw me to the wind. I want to be a free spirit. Tho' I feel my children will have other plans.

Tomorrow: Worlwide Howl at the Moon Night

Thursday, October 25, 2012

Do I really need to explain this one? Hopefully I will all be able to sleep if our neighbors are all hollowing at the moon. Pleasant dreams!

Thank You and Keep Those Prayers Comin'

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

As most of you are aware, a few months ago here in our family we experienced a lay off. My husband lost his job after 6 years with the same firm.

First, I want to say "Thank You" all for your continued prayers, networking referrals, genuine kindness and unlimited support. We are truly blessed!!

Now for some good news...
After months of searching for a new job, Jeff, is in the early stages of an ideal opportunity to join a local company as a computer programmer. He passed Phase 1, the telephone interview, with flying colors. The next phase, face-to-face interviews, is tomorrow morning. This is all happening so fast!

Please keep Jeff in your thoughts and prayers, especially beginning at 10:30 am CST when he will be meeting one-on-one with several different people directly involved in the hiring process. We truly believe prayers make a difference!

In the mean time to keep you updated...
Jeff has been successful in completing most of the required courses for his C# .Net curriculum. He has only three more classes left to earn his CAIT certification at Wash U. There was a hiccup when a recent class was cancelled. No fear, it's offered again early in January. So, the completion of his certificate is postponed just 6 weeks later than planned. It's worth the wait as long as he gets this new C# .NET certificate.

Thank you all again! We truly appreciate all of you!!!

Spark on,
~ Lynn

Celebrating National Nut Day?

Sunday, October 21, 2012

October 22 is National Nut Day. Will you be celebrating?

Not to seem wacky, but if you aren't crazy for cashews, a bit bonkers for brazil nuts, then by George I think you should be relegated to the nut house!

Besides, who can't resist a bag of salted peanuts in the shell at the baseball game? To pass those up would be un-American! Sometimes I even eat them whole--shell and all!

I've already put my Fruit & Nut bar into my Monday lunch bag for mid-morning snack with my Granny Smith apple. There's always the backup single serving of almonds to munch on while on the ride home from work. Though not my favorite nut, it is the BEST from a nutritional standpoint.

How will you ring in this day? You have to be a little nutty if you don't celebrate!

I love nuts and have eaten them with relish in the past 10 years. But I saw Richard Simmons on TV the other day and he said he doesn't eat many nuts because he only eats 40 grams of fat per day, so that's the goal I'm going for too. I might eat a few anyway just because it's festive.

Tomorrow: World Osteoporosis Day

Friday, October 19, 2012

It's great to have a day to remind us to get our share of Vitamin D. That's what we have here today, though we Sparkers should be doing this EVERYDAY!

We all know that Vitamin D is one of the important nutrients that, along with calcium and a healthy lifestyle, helps prevent Osteoporosis.

So to prevent degenerative bone disease, have a glass of milk, everyone!

I had milk, cottage cheese and yogurt for various meals to celebrate.

Plus I went out to do some yard work clearing walks, raking leaves and trimming shrubs in anticipation for the garden to go into winter hibernation.
