When I can't sleep, I count my blessings instead of sheep.
In my mind I go through the things that went right throughout the day. Then I pick one thing -- just one -- that I could have done better and vow to improve on that tomorrow.
We are all works in progress and no one expects us to be perfect all day everyday. There is always tomorrow.

Earlier I posted that as of July 4, 2012, I've been active for 100 days. Basically that means each and every day I've logged at least 10 minutes of physical activity to get my heart pumping and my metabolism racing to a new Mii.
Well, now I can say that I feel it's a habit. If a day goes by that I don't do at least 10 minutes, I feel it -- both physically and psychologically! If I don't log onto Mii Wii Fit Plus, both the trainer and Wii Board take notice.
I've found ways to include up to 30, 45 or even 90 minutes of heart activity fitness around my busy working mom schedule. In addition, I consistently have logged no less than 8,000 steps. Most days I reach 10,000 to 12,000 steps, which is my personal daily goal.
Thanks, SparkPeople and all my new SparkFriends, for fanning my spark into a full-blown flame. Now I see that I can do this! With a little help and perseverance, this health and wellness journey is possible!

Having always been an observant person, I notice most things in my surroundings. But it's not for me to judge others so I focus on improving myself.
Recently, with this extreme heat we've been experiencing, I'm aware of the attire some wear to be comfortable. For someone who is obese -- like I am -- sporting a men's XXL t-shirt isn't the best solution to show off my pear-shape curves.
Realizing that such wardrobe choices are the most unflattering on me, this weekend I'm cleaning out my drawer of all my men's t-shirts in size XL and XXL. Not only are they unattractive when worn in public, they are difficult to maneuver when doing activities that require larger range of arm motion (Wii Fit, gardening, etc.) It's actually a practical solution to clear out unnecessary clothing.
Now that I'm fitting comfortably into a Misses XL, I can pick up a top here or there on sale to start replenishing my everyday active wear t-shirts. I especially like to find treasures in the outlet stores and on clearance racks now that we are between seasons.
Not to worry, these unwanted t-shirts will be re-purposed! My DH gets to select from these hand-me-downs or I'll take them to the ScholoarShop on my next delivery. They will be in good hands, I'm sure!
PS: I kept two of my favorites back to wear as night shirts. They had sentimental value!!

Last weekend we were supposed to get a bunch of yard work done. Well, that didn't happen as we planned.
So, today we made up for lost time. We put in 3+ hours weeding, clearing overgrown shrubs and ivy vines, thinning out lilacs, and filling in more soil where needed. It's still a work in progress, but looks much nicer than before.
Tomorrow we'll make another trip to refill our soil supply and hopefully this will all be done before the end of the weekend.
Meanwhile, this day was full of great fitness activity. During the yard work hours, my Polar. heart monitor and MyTrak pedometer registered and logged everything. It appears that today I walked 5.6 miles and clocked 120 Heart Activity Minutes. In addition, I put in 60 min of water exercises when we went to the pool during the afternoon.
