One year update.

Thursday, October 01, 2009

Well it's now over a year since I joined Spark People. They wanted me to lose 50 lbs in one year. I felt that was a bit excessive for me so I did the first 20 of it. I was able to do that and keep it off over the summer!

I've decided to do 20 pounds a year. Then Keep It Off! I've done the first 20 so now for the next 20.

On my teams there is a challenge to lose 20 pounds by 2010! So I've joined it and am currently working towards that goal! I figured it was a Great jump start for my next 20. Who knows I might be able to do it and then Keep It Off! I figure it can't hurt!

My cholesterol is down from 225 to 180, my Blood Pressure is down so much that my Doctor cut back my water pill to the lowest they have and is actually thinking of taking me off my BP meds all together! So as you can see things are going well!

One change at a time. First was the eating, then was the exercise and then the sleep. Or lack thereof would be more accurate. So now I'm just working all of them a little at a time.

I also had to learn that my work was more strenuous than I knew. So I had to account for that as well!

It has been a wonderful year of learning and changing. I look forward to the next one!

good for you! I finished my first year in July--and it was strange that I had 'only' been doing it for a year--but that's how things change--one day at a time! Glad you stuck with it for a year, and here's to another one!

Getting back into this one step at a time.

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

I'm using Sparkpeople more and more again. The cool thing is that I still didn't gain back all the weight. Just a couple of pounds that I will get rid of in this next week.

I'm tracking my food again and next week I'll start tracking my exercise.

I love that I'm not really blowing it during my little vacations from Spark People. That means to me that I really have been learning and I can do this without a lot of really hard work. It can become just the way I do things.

So one step at a time.

Dogs are good for weight loss!

Tuesday, June 09, 2009

Well I finally found a trainer that I can relate to and who isn't afraid of me. lol I can get pretty intense and set in how I train my dogs. But I realized that I can only take her to a certain point.

So I'm putting my money where my mouth is and paying the big bucks. I don't mind it to much because I get group lessons for free for the life of the dog! No extra money. If I like it enough I'm going to become a trainer for this method as well.

With this training we can walk the dogs every night working up to a mile or two a night. It will be good for all of us including the dogs! We'll see how it is for my weight loss.

Working Away the Fat!

Thursday, September 18, 2008

Well when I started my new job it was because I wanted to be busy! Wow I really should be careful what I ask for. The Karma Police seem to just love to reward me! Full schedules has been just working my body like crazy. That's really good.

I also made the choice to ride my Bicycle to work instead of driving. Of course that's only if it isn't raining. In California it doesn't really rain that often. Usually when it does it pours and then quits just as quickly.

So I started out using gears 1-3. Then that started to get easy. So I used gears 2-4. That beefed it up for a week or so. Now I'm at gears 3-5. So I figure I must be doing something right. Right?

I'm just wondering what to do when I reach the 5-7 range. My bike is only a 7 speed. lol Maybe I'll have to find a longer way to work. Or not. I figure I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Have a Froggie day.

Huge Ah Ha moment for me!

Tuesday, September 16, 2008

OK so I'm a Massage Therapist. I work for 6 hours each day I work with a 1 hour lunch break. So that means that I physically work for 5 hours! Well the calories I burn doing that is more than I take in in a day! Then I bike to and from work on top of that!

So, I spend may days off EATING! Because I'm at a negative for the days I work! What does that mean to me?

Well, on my days I don't work I wasn't exercising at all! So all that eating I was doing sitting around all day goes where? I was also eating to compensate for the work days. Now I understand why on my days off I was always ravenous!

So I need to figure out what to do about this. Any Ideas?
