Kick Start the Reverse Escalator

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

I NEED to "de"stress...dance is great, but, the hooping has me hypnotized. I wanted to learn to do kick start this month so I went to the University of You Tube before the dentist. Katie nailed the move within the hour. I had to move onto another move or die trying the first. I JUST got the hoop to my thigh on the Kick Start. I still may not get the move until later but, I love that there's hope.

Thurs., Apr. 12/12 Edit:
Process not product.
youtu.be/rX8IffI2qUk
I can kick start |(ish) now. Vid is uploading to You Tube (I have it set on "Unlisted" so you need a link, this way I'm not "flooding" SparkWorld with Hoop vids, but, it's what's helping me stay sane through this LIfestyle transition. yay.)

    W.O.W. ... you gals ROCK!!! Katie definitely inherited your moves, woman! Those awesome dancing/hooping/moving genes! (Maybe from Spock, too. He's not so bad with the slow dancing if I recall my DIVA vlogs properly.....)

This April *is* awesome, you are proving it to me.

Lady Godiva...also a Liar...

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

I hope I don't get sued for deformation of character of whatever.
Well, I'll have loads of time to help the eldest figure out Law jargon when FOUR of five get shipped off to Public School as early as next week.
emoticon
I feel like a failure.
{Enter the demise of prettily package Lady Godiva chocolate numero uno}
She was a biznotch anyway. Gr.

{Breathe. Tea, said that's important...can't quite remember why, but, I love Tea so we'll go with it...}

I hate change.

Okay. Okay. Okay.

Not true.

I hate change UNLESS I am the one orchestrating it and then I LOVE IT!!!!! I have control issues.

"Bobby, God doesn't get it."

"Mmm-Hmm?" (I love this Men are from Mars Women are from Venus Book, I get this free ticket to incessant chatter. It's DIVINE!)

"Well, Baby. I have plans and He messes with them. It's annoying."

"Mmm-Hmm" (With elevated eyebrow, you know that way if God quizzes Him when he gets to Heaven as to why Bobby never intervened with my plans to take over the World Bob can rewind the footage and point out his "Eyebrow Lift of Disapproval". He'll be like in the "clear". Ya, cuz dats how God rollzzzz...NOT.)

"Bobby, I feel like a failure."

"When are you going to stop picking on my awesome wife?" (Gr! When is he going to let me pout and get away with shaking my fist at the Creator of the Universe?!)

He totally distracted my Pity Party. Boyz! He reminded me that God doesn't make mistakes, especially with fabulous me! I love how he makes me feel so fab. The migraines dibilitating me and making us move from homeschooling is just opening a new door in our lives...

I just really, really, REALLY LOVED my job when I could do it. I hate this change. Hate.

emoticon {Exit Godiva #2 & 3!}

    You are definitely not a failure. Change is hard but you will make it through. You've done a great job raising and educating your children and your job is not over. School is not the end. You will still have the chance to shape and mold your beautiful family. This is not the end. Just the beginning of a new chapter. Hang in there. emoticon

    Oh, Liz, I am so sorry. It seems to me that one of the hardest part of mommy-ing is how often we accuse ourselves of failing at one thing or another. I pray that this change, no matter how difficult it is, will turn out to be a blessing for your family -- and as Shelli pointed out, for the school district as well. Many hugs to you!

    Hang in there! Change is hard! Two of my grandchildren entered public school for the first time last year and made the transition beautifully! Don't kid yourself; you have not been retired, the kids that do well in school are the ones that have active informed parents (usually translated Moms). I'm sure God laughs as we make plans; but for me, hindsight has shown His plan was better--even if I go in kicking and screaming. Let go and let God; simple, just not easy. emoticon

    Awww Liz, you a failure! WTF????? and yes, I cursed since the situation called for it! :) There are a few ways to look at this and failure is NOT one of them. They and you will all be fine. It will be new and exciting for them and you will have a little "me" time. You'll be surprised how much your life doesn't change. Hope the transition goes well for all of you.

    Aww, you can't call yourself a failure. That's against the rules. Five minutes in the penalty box with ONE Godiva.
You're about to unleash a snowstorm of awesomeness on that school system. Your kiddos will be like a fresh bag of Skittles in that place. Think about it--everybody's getting crazy spring fever and then sha-bam---snowstorm of brilliant, creative, freethinking kids. They will be a breath of fresh air.
And hopefully, you'll get a breath too. I'm praying for you, dear friend.

    I very well understand.....having had to put my child in public school.... It is a very very rough road to walk. The feeling of failure and the feelings of "what did I do wrong?!?!" for me it was nothing I did.... Something my *health* did. And I can not control having my health issues (not saying I can't do anything about my weight but you have so wonderfully conqured this).

I am in and out I know but I so am with you! I have a son who wants to skate by and if I am sick he had little self control to do what her needs to school wise... This was also a factor in my choice.

you are one wonderful awesome lady!

    BEAUTIFUL! Sometimes your arms movements were so graceful and ballet like. I was like dang, I need to do that! Don't forget what you are doing now! In the beginning, before tons of tricks, to dance in the hoop, you have to use so much more than the hoop like your body and just simple things like how you are spinning which sometimes can get forgotten. Watching your video made me flashback to what I used to do before I considering myself a real hooper(I really didn't believe I was a hooper for eons).

AWESOME JOB

I told them that you have 5 kids. They were awed that you made time for "exercise" and encouraged me that I could be like that if I wanted. Words to ponder for me. Have a Blessed day Diva!

OTOH I can't hoop inside my house so I'm kind of restricted.. but still, I don't think I have the skills yet to do that. I am also impressed with how you move the hoop from overhead and then right down your body to your waist to hoop so smoothly. I have no idea how to do that. So how did you learn these skills anyhow? Well, I think you're naturally talented at it, but there may be some skills that would be useful to know, too. :) Thanks for sharing your talent!

April Awesome #2 Blood Glucose Victory

Tuesday, April 03, 2012

This morning out of the corner of my eye as I was digging for a teeny sugar bowl (oddly enough) to adorn the Tea Party table of my 4 year old daughter, I saw the once ominous black package.

Lemme tell you about it.

The black package is the Blood Glucose Monitor that I bought on the sly. Last year I worked as the church's secretary. I was being paid a meager amount for my part-time work, full-time effort and I was at the beginning of my SparkJourney. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I am a chronic migraine sufferer and I was seeking professional intervention of which I am now pleased to say I have obtained and now have preventative medication that has restored my life to me. Back then though I was grasping at straws trying to figure out what was going on. I have a history of diabetes in my family and I was being encouraged to seek help when I was passing out behind the wheel while driving on the 400 series highway with our 5 children. This was more than migraine was the general consensus.

Problem was that we were in transition with health care providers. No one wanted to take on a family our size. No one wanted to be held liable for tests not followed up, etc. I was ignored. Lupus was tossed around because my Dad had passed at 46 from complications and my younger sister(s) have been tested for it. Nothing was followed up. It just was left.

I was annoyed and feeling like a hypochondriac. I scrimped my pennies and bought a Glucose Monitor and educated myself about proper levels. I now have a Health Care provider, but, now I've chunked off 65lbs and I am in healthy range.

April Awesome Celebration #2
My fasting Glucose last year was in the 6.8-7.2 range today's 5.2 is the highest (healthy is 4-6).

BOOYAH SparkPeople is emoticon emoticon

EDIT:
April Awesome #1 Left a literal impression;
