Hi Sparkies!

Sunday, August 26, 2012

Yay to Sunday! I haven't blogged since my birthday. I was having a bit of an issue with 42. Uggg....Realizing I am the age my mom was when I got married was an eye opener. Mom married my dad at 20 and I got married at 21....I'm feeling much better about it all today. Hubby and I went out dancing with a Zumba friend and her hubby. It was fun. I looked hot ...if I do say so myself...and I do emoticon Not bad for early 40's emoticon I bought this perfect dress for a polo match that we will be attending tonight. emoticon Thank God! Thank you Sparkies for helping me figure out what to wear to such an event. The boys are doing great. Adam got to go to New York City on a bus trip with his theater group. They went to Central Park to see Into the Woods. He got to meet Amy Adams and take a picture with her! Celebrity sighting...Score emoticon Adam has moved on to his next musical...The Little Mermaid emoticon He is Sebatian! Fun! Josh is full on football practice. Ugggg... Food has been really good. emoticon Enjoy this gorgeous Sunday!

What a great thing for Adam, I would have loved to go see that, love that musical! He'll be wonderful in The Little Mermaid.

Good morning friends!

Friday, August 17, 2012

It's Friday! Happy for that. Adam's musical starts today. I'm so impressed by my son. Does that sound strange? Oh well...he is impressive :) He is so talented and handsome. He has been in 3 musicals and a lead in each :)...yup! He auditioned for a fall musical and yes a lead again!!!! He will be Sebatian in the Little Mermaid! How fun! So....food choices are all over the place. Some moments sooooo good. Others not so much. I'm still dancing but I think I may try spinning again next week! I feel I need to mix things up a bit. Yay! Feeling excited about this. My favorite Sparkie advised me about getting a routine together in my life. I will work on this while she is on vacation and try to have one on the books! Have a great day Friends!

That is such a cool role to have for your son! I LOVE Sebastian! Question...how is the chef going to be able to pick him up and throw him in that hot, silver pot?!

Great that you're keeping active. Keep it up! Have a great weekend!

Whew! Spinning is a rough one. Be prepared to have a sore backside - that's all I'll say. :) Good luck and congrats to your son.

HI!

Wednesday, August 15, 2012

Our weekend was great! Had a blast! We went to Giants Stadium in New Jersey. We went to see Tim Mcgraw and Kenny Chesney. So fun! Alot of entertainment. The next day we headed into the city and went to see the Freedom Tower and the 911 Memorial Park. Very beautiful and very somber. Perfectly done. We just love the city. Food was pretty outstanding considering what we were doing. But.. yesterday I binged. Yup. I was so nervous because we had relativalwayses in from Rochester and having them makes me so anxious. So starting over binge free days today...

You have really got to talk to your therapist about why you get so anxious when relatives come over. I know that I do, when the odd on comes from my husband's side, but I get over it when they walk in the door.

I'm so glad that you had a good time in the city and went to that concert. I bet it was something!

Have a good, binge free day.

ok, time to find a different way to handle your relatives! I know you get nervous, but a binge is not the way to handle it. We'll have to find something for you to do instead. I will find something no matter how long it takes!

Asking for info...

Tuesday, August 07, 2012

Life is happening around here. I'm trying some added protein to my day. A Zumba friend told me that her trainer has her taking in as many grams of protein a day as she weighs...has anyone heard of this? She says she has lost alot because of this. We will see. Day 2 of adding Muscle Milk to my day. Not sure about it. Give me some feedback if you have any knowledge about this stuff. So today is ok. Haven't really been up to much.

How much protein do we need?
Our protein needs depend on our age, size, and activity level. The standard method used by nutritionists to estimate our minimum daily protein requirement is to multiply the body weight in kilograms by .8, or weight in pounds by .37. This is the number of grams of protein that should be the daily minimum. According to this method, a person weighing 150 lbs. should eat 55 grams of protein per day, a 200-pound person should get 74 grams, and a 250-pound person should eat 92 grams.

I'd heard this recommendation before - and actually asked whether it was supposed to be a gram to a pound (or a gram to a kilogram). It is pound. However, there's a lot of conflicting information out there - just about every site has some variation. The key that I've found is that the gram per pound is typically a body-building recommendation or for someone who is very active.

(And, of course, eating more protein has to be balanced - it doesn't mean we can eat more calories. Too much protein can cause issues, just as too much of just about anything can. As long as we're getting all the other nutrition we need at the same time, more protein can have benefits.)

SP gives me a range of 60-150 grams for protein. So, eating a gram per pound I certainly would be in range. I'm no expert, but I would say try it. Won't hurt. Might help.

I've never tried Muscle Milk before. When I need a little protein boost, I like to grab for some Weight Watchers or Fit And Active cheese sticks. They are lower in fat but give you a kick for the protein and calcium.

Wow, now I'm going to research that just out of curiosity. Initially, I would say in ranges from 40-70 is normal but most people are sedentary, do more, it really is irrelevant. I do know there are calculators out there that can tell you should do according to the exercise. Like I said, I'm gonna study up on this one!
