Pic update

Saturday, December 08, 2012

Had a great evening last night. Went to dinner with two friends from school and my boyfriend. It was the first time they really were able to hang out with him. Awesome time. After that I had a sleep over at my friend's house. SO fun to have a girl's night! Today I did dishes, made myself a nice lunch (cooked up red, orange, yellow, and green bell peppers, onions, black beans, and basmati rice. I added goya adobo seasoning, cumin, and cayenne pepper). It was pretty good. I also did some laundry and cleaned out more of my closet. Got rid of 2 more bags of clothes. One was almost all workout clothes. I love cleaning out my closet:) I feel quite accomplished. I am relaxing right now. I might do some drawing.

Here are pictures from the weekend.

Pic, new plan, and cat

Friday, December 07, 2012

So I have been feeling great this week. We've had A LOT of parent meetings. Our parent teacher conference night is next week and I am already booked PLUS kids haven't even received their interim grades yet! I've had 1-2 parent meetings per day starting last week and it continues into the week after parent conferences and when we get back from break. At the most I've only ever had around 3 parent meetings during conference times so this is great, but very time consuming.

We did Zumba on Monday and I worked with the trainer on Tues. I can't remember if I told you, but my co workers are interested in trying a 5k so we started C25k on Tuesday. We were supposed to run yesterday, but my meeting wasn't over until 2 hours after school ended.

Today I am going to dinner with friends from school and my boyfriend. It is that all you can eat steak place that we like. I factored in a lb of meat for the day, but I'll doubt that I'll actually eat that much. After dinner my friend and I are going out. I'm not sure what Saturday's plans are yet and Sunday I am going to the store to get ingredients for grilled chicken wraps that I am selling at school on Monday to raise money for the Health and Wellness Club's Zumba sponsorship. I hope the sales go well. I have another training session Tues. I just cancelled my cable and internet at my apartment, so that'll save me $160 a month. I want to use that money to continue to do training sessions every Tues.

I am excited to say that my friend from school who started SP has been doing insanity and is already seeing results with her jeans! Her username is MARLO82390 if you want to show her some love. I am very excited for her and told her she needs to take her measurements and take pics RIGHT AWAY before she starts shredding any more lbs and inches.

Yesterday I went through the SP fitness demo videos and found the exercises I've been doing with the trainer. I made a giant sheet of the exercises I want to do. I have been really into looking at fitness type pictures online, not only for motivation but for ideas on what direction I want to go in. I am liking some pics of people who are training for body competitions. I don't think I would ever do a body competition, but their arms and muscle definition is so beautiful. I love that I am starting to see some type of bicep shadow. I would love to take this further. Here is my list of the exercises I found on the SP demos that I have done with the trainer. My goal is to go to the gym on my own and try these out. So far I have only done weights with him.

Bicep curls on cable cross machine
Standing upright row on cable cross machine
Dumbbell triceps extensions on ball
Wall sit with lateral dumbbell raises
Wall sit with dumbbell bicep curls
Dumbbell lateral raises
Dumbbell shoulder press on ball
Alternating dumbbell bicep curls
Dumbbell chest flys on ball
One-arm dumbbell rows
Dumbbell triceps kick backs
Dumbbell chest press
Dumbbell chest press on ball
Standing overhead triceps extension with medicine ball
Walking lunges with medicine ball
Lunge and twist with medicine ball
Wall squats with ball
Wall squats with dumbbells and ball
Dumbbell squat with calf raise and overhead press
Woodchop lunge
Dead lifts with barbell
Step ups with medicine ball raise
Balancing seated twist with medicine ball
Crunches with ball
Dumbbell side bends
Woodchop on ball

I tried on a newer pair of boy shorts last night and am loving how they look. I see areas of fat that could be reduced, but I am excited to see that there is a good foundation and shape underneath. This makes me hopeful that I can get closer to some of these beautiful pics that I've seen online.

I am also in the process of trying to find a home for my cat. I got my cat my junior year of college when he was a kitten. We moved to my current apartment when I started teaching. I have had that apartment since. However, I haven't been living at my apartment for over a year since I live with my boyfriend and his grandfather. I used to try to stay at the apartment to visit the cat a few days a week, but lately I haven't slept there at all. I've tried having the cat at granddad's house, but there isn't enough space and with granddad's current needs it didn't work out. I have had my cat for over 5 years and he is wonderful, but I can't keep paying over $1000 a month for an apartment that is empty except for the cat. I am literally out of money. He is also getting lonely and would be happier with company. If I could afford a house right now we would move to a house and I would not have to find him a home, but unfortunately that is not the case. This has been very difficult for me, but I put the information on facebook, so I'll open it up to my spark friends too. I am in Maryland not far from Baltimore if you live in the area.

Tyson is a pure bred, blue point Siamese cat. He is shy at first, but very snuggly. He has never been fussy with anyone and is described by the people at the vet as a gentleman (even when he is getting procedures done). He likes to play fetch and talk to you when you get home from work. He goes to the vet annually and I have been his only owner. He lived with a rabbit when he was young and a dog when he was a little older. Once the dog knew that Tyson was in charge they got along great. Tyson is very independent. I put his food out all the time and he eats when he needs to (imagine that-- a cat that doesn't over eat!). He is not declawed. Breeders are very against that, but I spoke with my vet and they will declaw an adult cat if that is something you are interested in. He has only been an indoor cat and is fixed. Let me know if you would like more info or if you know someone that would like an addition to their home. I am not selling him... just want to find him a loving home (preferably with someone I know versus a random person on Craigslist or the pound).

    I will ask around...Such a beautiful cat!
I will be in the DC area in the beginning of January for a few days for a wedding...maybe we could find a way to meet up for a run or coffee! Or maybe run to coffee. Will you be in the area or are you going out of town? emoticon emoticon

So sad to have to give your kitty away, but I'm sure he'll love the company. You'll have more money per month too. Congrats on all your hard work. It really shows!

I hope your kitty finds a good home soon. I'll pass along the word to my friends. On another note, I was looking through your older pictures. You have come a damn long way!! I hope Chris is enjoying the booty shorts! =] I really like that you're incorporating strength training. You've lost a great deal of weight and as you continue to lose it'll be nice that things won't just be smaller, but instead of the skin looking looser like some ppl have (if they neglect strengthening) you've have tightness in all the right places. Keep up the great work dear. It's showing.

P.S. I think it's also showing not just physically but as a lifestyle change. You've been down this road for awhile now and have been very persistent! emoticon

Love how you decided what you want, re-budgeted, and got it! Very motivational and disciplined. (P.S. We gave up satellite about 3 years ago. Don't miss it. At. All. Now, I don't know how I ever had the time to watch TV)

Took the goal plunge

Tuesday, December 04, 2012

So I took the plunge and changed my goals. Instead of my goal weight being 140 I changed it to 130. I am only 6 lbs away from 140, but I feel like I have more changes I could make. I had recently switched my goal calories burned per week to 850. Since my original goal was supposed to be accomplished the end of October I felt like my calorie ranges were pretty high (between 1550 and 1900 when I was burning 850 a week). So far since sunday I have burned 2500 calories! I changed my goal weight, my goal date, and I increased my calories burned per week to 2,000. That brought my food ranges down a little, which seems like it is where it should be. I think before it might have been giving me maintenance food ranges. It is scary to change your goal weight, especially when you are close to reaching it for the first time ever, but I think this is the right decision for me.

Today I walked with some teachers after school. They want to start C25k, so we did W1D1 today. It was pretty awesome. Everyone went at their own pace, but they want to do a 5k at the end of the school year. It's a great feeling knowing that you can start taking risks and do things you never thought were possible. After that I went to my training session at the gym. I did the elliptical for 40 mins and then the half hour session. It was good. I can tell that I am getting stronger (dumbbells for chest presses are at 12 lbs now. woohoo lol).

Here are muscle pics from last june versus today.

Today... I can even see a difference in my back and shoulders

Here is a pic I took today. Legs, stomach, and butt are moving in the right direction. I think my stomach feels a lot harder inside my body then it looks from the outside lol. I guess that's because I am closer to the muscle from the inside versus when you come from the outside you have to go through belly fat hahaha.

I can't wait to take more comparison pics in the future and then these will turn into before pics. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Awesome weekend

Monday, December 03, 2012

So my weekend was fabulous. My bf dj'd on Friday, so we were there from 7-2Am. That was a lot of fun. He hasn't dj'd there for quite some time, so I saw a lot of people I haven't seen for a while. Some other friends of ours came and I had some awesome conversations with people. I even danced a little and got a lot of compliments on my weight loss. Saturday I slept most of the morning and then went out with a friend that evening. It was SO fun! This guy was trying to talk to her and ended up paying our $85 dinner/drink bill plus a tip! That's crazy!! I can't say my wallet was complaining:) lol. He was very nice, though. HEre are our pics from that night. I wore my new red pants and some big heels.

Yesterday we had some friends over to shoot clay birds down at the farm. My bf's one friend's wife and I went running near the house. It was almost 7 miles and there were some crazy hills. We ran some and walked some. It was fun. I haven't really run since around October, so my body was definitely not used to it. However, I was glad that I actually went out there and started moving. I have been exercising, but am still slow to jump in and start running (not sure why). She wants to continue to have running dates, so I am definitely looking forward to that. She runs A LOT faster than me (finished her half marathon on 1:51, I believe, and averages around an 8 min mile), but she went at my pace. It was nice having someone else there who was better than me because I pushed myself and it was also nice to have someone to chat with.

I am probably going to have to bump up my food ranges again. I have that my exercise for the week is 850 calories, but running/walking for over an hour and a half yesterday has already gotten me 1011 calories! I am doing Zumba today after school and working out with a trainer on Tuesday... so I will probably be over 2,000 by the end of the week! I am also excited that some of the teachers at my school are interested in training for a 5k or 10k that we can participate in at the end of the year, so that will be awesome! We are in the planning stages right now. Hope everyone is having a good Monday.

Great job on the run...I have had the same thing happen...not want to get back into running after not doing it for a while. Strange. I like running with people who are faster/have endurance. I push harder. Nice to have a running buddy, someone to help keep you on track.
Cool that your work friends want to train for a race, too!! That is awesome! Keep up the great work! You're definitely spreading your enthusiasm and inspiring others to healthy changes. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
I have my second half marathon on Sunday--wish me luck! I don't feel ready...but at the same time I do...Nerves, I guess. Have a good week! Happy Monday!
