So my weekend was fabulous. My bf dj'd on Friday, so we were there from 7-2Am. That was a lot of fun. He hasn't dj'd there for quite some time, so I saw a lot of people I haven't seen for a while. Some other friends of ours came and I had some awesome conversations with people. I even danced a little and got a lot of compliments on my weight loss. Saturday I slept most of the morning and then went out with a friend that evening. It was SO fun! This guy was trying to talk to her and ended up paying our $85 dinner/drink bill plus a tip! That's crazy!! I can't say my wallet was complaining:) lol. He was very nice, though. HEre are our pics from that night. I wore my new red pants and some big heels.
Yesterday we had some friends over to shoot clay birds down at the farm. My bf's one friend's wife and I went running near the house. It was almost 7 miles and there were some crazy hills. We ran some and walked some. It was fun. I haven't really run since around October, so my body was definitely not used to it. However, I was glad that I actually went out there and started moving. I have been exercising, but am still slow to jump in and start running (not sure why). She wants to continue to have running dates, so I am definitely looking forward to that. She runs A LOT faster than me (finished her half marathon on 1:51, I believe, and averages around an 8 min mile), but she went at my pace. It was nice having someone else there who was better than me because I pushed myself and it was also nice to have someone to chat with.
I am probably going to have to bump up my food ranges again. I have that my exercise for the week is 850 calories, but running/walking for over an hour and a half yesterday has already gotten me 1011 calories! I am doing Zumba today after school and working out with a trainer on Tuesday... so I will probably be over 2,000 by the end of the week! I am also excited that some of the teachers at my school are interested in training for a 5k or 10k that we can participate in at the end of the year, so that will be awesome! We are in the planning stages right now. Hope everyone is having a good Monday.

I had my 2nd training session last night. It was incredible! I get the half hour sessions and they are perfect. My trainer, Steve, jam packs in exercises and we are constantly bouncing from one thing to the next. He is very attentive the whole time and gives good instructions on how to hold my body differently to get more out of the exercise (for example, "sit back on your heels more and keep your head up").
He also does things with pieces of equipment that I would've never thought of. For example, I would've never thought to stand on a bench press bench and to use it to step over and and forth keeping one leg planted on top of the bench or when you are doing pull downs with the pulley machine he has me stand and squat while doing it rather than sit. Everything he has me do seems like 2 or 3 exercises in one. I had such a rigid view of weights that I would've never thought you would be "allowed" to do some of these crazy things with the equipment, but why not!? It is nice seeing creative ways to work your body and I definitely feel like I've worked my body harder than I ever have before. It is also good trying new things and letting loose a little bit while I am doing weights. Before I would go with my piece of paper and a pen and would document absolutely everything so I could log it into my spreadsheet later, but I feel like by just going with the flow and doing different things when I was there I was getting more out of it. I was also feeling more confident walking around the weight area, which is pretty full of body builders and beautiful people lol.
I was incredibly sore after our session, but not in an old person and/or overweight/out of shape kind of sore. It was a good sore. When I was doing squats with the ball on the wall he had me do 10 full squats and then 10 little squats where you stay down. My legs were shaking uncontrollably! Then he had me lay down on one of the benches and pull my knees up to my chest. After that he had me pull my knees to my chest and then extend my legs out and back to my chest like if you were popping something in front of you with your toes. I was able to do 3-4 and then my muscles hit exhaustion. Literally my legs were locked in a chair position and I could not extend them out or pull them back far enough to touch my chest. I've never had the feeling where I couldn't physically complete a task or do what someone was asking me to do. It was a strange feeling, but I also kind of liked it. I really felt like I gave my complete all and there was nothing more of myself that I could give.
I am really not terribly sore today. Tomorrow will probably be a little worse, but I loved the whole thing. I only have one more session left, which I am using next Tuesday. I need to try to see if I can find enough money to do one session a week. That would be awesome!

So Monday's Zumba was AWESOME! The instructor was great. There were about 6 people who came and several students watched on the side. This was not enough people to break even to pay for the class. However, at least 10 teachers have approached me about coming next Monday and many kids said they are going to come. There has been quite a buzz around school regarding the Zumba class, so I think we are going to start to grow. If I can last through Jan with paying for it out of pocket then there should be an after-the-holidays increase and the money shouldn't be as much of an issue. Yesterday the Health and Wellness Club walked outside on the track. I am really getting to know another teacher who I hadn't spoken to much before this. She said that she was praying to God for an opportunity or activity to join so that she can lose weight and work on health issues (like diabetes and high blood sugar). She said after she prayed my email popped up in her inbox informing the staff that I was starting the Health and Wellness Club. This moved me greatly. I am not a religious person, but it was really nice to hear that at the very least my efforts are helping one person. Her energy and enthusiasm yesterday was contagious. She has come out and walked with us every day that we have gone on the track and she is going to do Zumba with us next week. I know personally that it takes courage to try physical activities... especially when you are overweight and constantly in the eyes of teenagers. I am so proud of everyone for giving things a chance. The Zumba class was hilarious. There was a lot of poppin, shakin, droppin, and grinding. hahaha! At first I was a little concerned that students are going to be taking secret videos of me looking stupid... but I decided I don't care. If you want a video, take your video... Because while you are standing ON THE SIDE worried about laughing at my lack of coordination I am OUT THERE burning calories and getting stuff done. Plus you weren't brave enough to give it a drive and are hiding behind making fun of me. I will gladly shake my stuff for whoever cares enough to watch and I will enjoy every minute of it. It is nice to see that this attitude is empowering other students and some of my coworkers to give something new a try and to step out of their comfort zone. Who cares!? The cheerleaders were in the gym watching while we were doing Zumba and although they were thoroughly entertained, a lot of them were like "ok... ok. I see you. Do your thing, girl." You could see that they respected that I was giving it all I had. I am also proud of myself for going bold and being in the FRONT ROW for Zumba! I ALWAYS am in the back and try to hide... but since I orchestrated this event and the people who were trying it had never done it before I thought it was only right to step up and dance front and center lol. Again, WHO CARES!? Not me anymore:)
Yesterday I had another training session at Gold's. It was awesome! I wish I had the money to do more than these first 3 sessions... maybe after the holidays I can scrape something up. I enjoyed seeing my bicep muscles in the mirror when I was lifting weights lol. Lately I have just felt so energized and so happy! I feel like everyday is full of new accomplishments.
Here is my current weight loss update. I know that I have definitely slowed down since I am getting close to my "number goal", but it was interesting seeing everything laid out.
Pounds lost by month
Nov--- to be announced in a few days
I was surprised about July. I was working out almost every day. I was taking pole classes, doing weights and the treadmill, doing yoga, hiked on a trail, was doing zumba, playing tennis with a friend, I did a 5k, and I was running on a trail. I guess it was a plateau kind of month.
Even though we all get frustrated sometimes with how progress is going, it is nice to see it in perspective over the whole month. Since I restarted this journey there was NOT ONE MONTH that I had a gain. I am very happy with that. We can all do this!!!!

So Puerto Rico was amazing. I'm sad that I was only there from Thurs-Sat, but it was better than nothing. We stayed with our friend's parents, which was awesome. They have a little guest house. The mom calls me princesa and makes us breakfast in the morning. She is the nicest woman on earth. As soon as my bf and our friend picked me up from the airport they started driving to the west side of the island and we went to several beaches. We went to dinner that night and had a wonderful meal. On Friday we went to another beach and I went swimming in the ocean (I haven't gone in the ocean since I was probably 7). I got a bathing suit from a Walgreens while I was there, since all of mine are too big. We had dinner with a larger group of friends. I had some tasty pina coladas:) Saturday we didn't have to be at the airport until 3. Unfortunately, my bf locked the keys in the trunk of the rental car, which took 2 hours for someone to come and open the car. We went to the mall and did some shopping, so fortunately our flight was later in the day. It turned out being a nice day and I got some awesome shoes and clothes! THe shoes were from bakers ($30). The pants were from express. I got the red pair, a royal blue pair, and a black pair. I LOVE them! Next time we go we are going to have to spend more time at the mall. It was 3 floors and had a 2 floor Forever 21! We had a short amount of time, so there was much of the mall that we didn't visit. I need to stop buying shoes and clothes for a little while... I'm out of money:( But such is life. Overall it was a fantastic trip!
My muscles were looking good morning that I left.
Plaza Las Americas (biggest mall in the Carribean)
Here are my pants. The first 3 pictures have a filter on them to make the picture brighter (not great light in the dressing room). The others are a little darker. THose are also the shoes I bought. THey are going to take some practice to walk in, but I think they are super cute.
HEre is the mango pina colada from Chili's
ANd here is a "medium" pina colada from another restaurant. I didn't finish all of this one.
Here is another picture of the bathing suit I got while I was down there in a Walgreens. It is a medium in juniors. THe top could be a little bigger, but it wasn't bad. Not the best lighting in these pictures, but who cares. If you read my blogs you know that I love comparison pics, so these will just get added to my collection:)
THese are the new boyshorts that just came in the mail today. They say work of art (it is from a place that specializes in clothes for people with tattoos- i guess that would be the best way to describe it).
I am excited that the Zumba classes I arranged to have at my school start this week and I have another training session at the gym. I was feeling the last training session in my butt and arms for 3-4 days after the last session! I can't wait for this one:)
