Longest distance ever!

Wednesday, August 08, 2012

So today I went to a local trail to walk/run 8 miles. The longest I've done is 6, so I thought with a half marathon in Oct i need to step up my distances. My legs were DEFINITELY not as strong as they were yesterday and the day before. I am not used to running 3 days in a row, but I think I did pretty good. My bf dropped me off towards the top of the trail by the MD/PA line and I went down towards our house. He picked me up at the end. It took me 1:54. I was expecting 2 hours, so this is great to me! I saw a goat and two roosters on the trail lol. I also realized that part of the trail has circuit equipment for working out (i.e. rings, parallel bars, pull up bars, posts in the ground for different exercises, planks so you can hold on at the top and pull your legs up towards your head, etc.) I think there were 20 of these "stations". It was interesting. It was weird seeing it randomly on the trail in the middle of a rural area. It kind of looked like torture equipment lol. Overall, I felt great about my run. I think my time would be even better if I had fresh legs. Here is my post-run sweaty pic:)

You look great post-run!! Congrats on a new personal distance. I'm working toward one of those myself. At your age you probably can run 3 days in a row. I always take a day off between runs. Best wishes for a great half marathon and great training days leading up to it!!

Lose inches with body wraps??

Wednesday, August 08, 2012

So I have a friend I used to work with in hs that posted on FB about this body wrap she used. She has a friend who lost several inches off her stomach using it so she tried it. She said she lost a few inches right after she used it and that you are supposed to continue to lose inches during the next 72 hours. I had to look it up because this just blows my mind. There is no way something like this could work, right?? It goes against every logical thought in my head. Here is the information I got from their website and I am interested to get your opinions as well.

----------------------------------------
--------------------------------------
--------------------------------------
--------------
Product information from their website....

Expect "ultimate" results with this amazing 45-minute body Applicator! The Ultimate Body Applicator is a non-woven cloth wrap that has been infused with a powerful, botanically-based formula to deliver maximum tightening, toning, and firming results where applied to the skin.
• Tightens, tones, & firms
• Minimizes cellulite appearance
• Improves skin texture & tightness
• Mess-free and simple to use
• Results in as little as 45 minutes
• Progressive results over 72 hours
• Made with natural ingredients

Includes 4 Applicators.

Directions: Apply one Applicator to one area of your choice (such as the abdomen, back, sides, legs, arms, or buttocks) and leave on for 45 minutes. Remove and discard. Repeat after 72 hours.

FAQ...
How does the ultimate applicator work?

While many body wraps simply cause water loss, the Ultimate Body Applicator uses a botanically based cream formula that, when applied to the skin, gives you detoxifying, tightening, toning, and firming results that last. The botanical ingredients help to deeply hydrate and nourish the skin while reducing the appearance of cellulite and redefining the appearance of your body's contours. Some of these cutting edge ingredients work to give you visible results in just 45 minutes, while other ingredients in the formula continue to work over the next 72 hours, leading to progressive results.

The Ultimate Applicator works by detoxifying, tightening, toning and firming. Daily, toxins are naturally removed from the body by your stool, urine and the air you breathe out. The ingredients continue to work for 72 hours after you have applied the Ultimate Applicator, so you may continue to see progressive results over this time period.

How long do the results last from the Ultimate Body Applicator?

The results you see from the Ultimate Body Applicator are not temporary, as you may have experienced or heard about with many body wraps that simply cause water loss. The Ultimate Body Applicator helps detoxify, tighten, tone, and firm in a manner that produces lasting results—without water loss.

As is true with any weight loss or body slimming, you can reverse the results you see from the Ultimate Body Applicator with poor eating habits and lack of exercise. This is why we say, depending on your eating habits and level of daily activity, you can expect your results to last approximately anywhere from 2 - 6 months.

Using Defining Gel daily can help you make sure that you improve and maintain your results from the Ultimate Body Applicators. Continued use of the Ultimate Body Applicators will also help you achieve continued results and maintain results you may be reversing with eating and lifestyle habits.

Ingredients

Water (Aqua), Glucose, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Alcohol Denat., Stearic Acid, Stearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth 12, Aesculus hippocastanum (Horse Chestnut), Seed Extract, Urea, Centella asiatica (hydrocotyl), Leaf Extract, Camellia sinensis (Green Tea), Leaf Extract, Fucus vesiculosus (Bladderwrack) Thalle Extract, Hedera helix (Ivy) Leaf Extract, Equisetum arvense (Horsetail) Leaf/Stem Extract, Ruscus aculeatus (Butchers Broom) Root Extract, Paullinia cupana (Guarana) Seed Extract, Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) Seed oil, Decyl Oleate, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG 7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Tocopheryl Acetate, TEA-Hydroiodide, Methylsilanol Mannuronate, Menthol, Camphor, Panthenol, Phenoxyethanol, Retinyl Palmitate, Triethonalamine, Carbomer, Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Eucalyptus globulus (Eucalyptus) Leaf Oil, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbic Acid, BHT. Limonene, Linalool.

What!? So it says that it shrinks fat cells and that it is not water loss. You are supposed to drink half of your weight in ounces of water daily during the day of and days after you do the wrap. They say the results will last if you have good diet and exercise. Again, the SparkPeople thoughts in me say that there is no way this can be accurate. Maybe it can shrink your stomach somehow temporarily, but there's no way you can be losing fat and toning muscles by having some kind of cream wrapped on your skin. Thoughts?? I just thought the whole thing was interesting and wanted to see what other people think.

I love their products had tried a few and loved them so much I became a distributor. I wrapped (3x's) 5 months ago and I am the same size (results last 2-6 months depending on lifestyle) I went from a 5 to a size 3 w/ IWG supplements and wraps! ! It's not water weight and everyone I have wrapped had had great results. I know you all say work out and eat healthy is the way to go and I agree however special occasions, sometimes to jump start your weight loss journey and for a plateau it is nice to turn to a natural helpful aid. I have shared w/ my DR and He is all for what I am doing! Cheaper than a tummy tuck/lipo lol

I have used these on my arms BUT not for slimming / toning. My friend had them and told me they didn't work for what the box said, but she noticed her skin was super soft for a few days after.

So I got a few off her and used them on my arms where I am dry / bumpy. SUPER moisturizing and softened the skin.

I would use them again as a moisture treatment, but they didn't change the measurements even so much as an either of an inch.

    Does it work? Yup.
Permanently? Hell no!
You lose inches right away. It squishes around water and things like that.
It is NOT permanent unless you continually keep wrapping yourself.
It is a money maker for them and a time waster for you!
Keep doing what you are doing, it is working and it is permanent!

I've heard body wraps are only temporary fxes. Unfortunately, eating healthy and working out the only way to attain real weight/inch loss unless you opt for gastric surgery. I wouldn't do that either.

I have lost the weight and have been able to keep it off without any extreme methods. I feel we can all do it unless there is some type of medical condition preventing you from exercising or medicines that make you gain weight. emoticon

In my opinion, anything that looks like a "quick fix" usually doesn't work. If you have an event coming up (wedding, vacation, etc.) and you want to lose a few inches quick, then go for it. But if you are wanting something long term, then healthy eating and exercise is the way to go.

I just don't know. I've heard some people rave about it, but then if you google it there are others that say it's just another scam and they got no results. No clue! Maybe it temporarily works on some people and not others? For me, maybe because I really want to stick with the hard work legit way of doing things (crazy, right? lol), I just don't believe there will be lasting results. Until I hear well respected doctors saying it's legit and explaining how it works and have it become really mainstream, I'm skipping it.

Tropical vanilla protein shake

Tuesday, August 07, 2012

My bf wanted a protein shake so I made what I call a tropical vanilla protein shake. It made 5 cups (double batch).

Tropical Vanilla Protein Shake
1 frozen banana
1 c frozen tropical fruit (strawberry, pineapple, melon, peaches)
2 c skim milk
1 tbsp sugar free vanilla pudding mix
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
small amount of vanilla extract

It is 103.4 calories per cup. It is pretty creamy and quite tasty.

Beat my time!

Tuesday, August 07, 2012

So I decided to step away from all of the wonderful blogs I was reading today and do the 6 miles of hills near my house. I am proud to say that I beat my time! I did the 3 miles there in 37 mins (mostly downhill) and the entire 6.18 miles took 1:26. My previous time was 6.12 miles in 1:35.

Here were my old mile times compared to today

Mile..... Old Time..... Today's Time
1..... 13:25..... 13:16
2..... 14:12..... 12:55
3..... 13:23..... 11:07
This is where I turn around and go back uphill
4..... 19:43..... 17:44
5..... 16:53..... 14:44
6..... 15:24..... 13:11

I did each mile faster than before. My normal 5k pace is 12:30, so I am pretty happy with these times. I really pushed myself and felt good about my run. I walked periodically, but tried to run as much as I could. I also listened to music this time (in 1 ear so I could still hear cars). I normally don't listen to music, but since it went well on the treadmill yesterday I thought i'd give it a try again. Feeling good:)

P.s. can i also say that i accomplished this on my 2nd day of cramps and after running yesterday. Go me!

Newest protein shake recipe (current fav!)

Tuesday, August 07, 2012

So this morning I did a Banana Peanut Butter Protein Shake (idea taken from LDRICHEL's blogs)

1 frozen banana (i cut up a banana, put it in a baggie, and put it in the freezer overnight)
1 tbsp sugar free vanilla pudding mix
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 tbsp smooth peanut butter
1 c unsweetened vanilla almond milk
3 ice cubes

This one was not as thick as the others, but is SO good. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about the almond milk. I've never tried any type of non=dairy milk. I tasted a little bit on the side and it was weird. Definitely not sweetened. But the shake is fantastic! It is creamy and very tasty. 392 for calories.
