How many firsts can you fit in a week!?

Friday, June 22, 2012

So this has truly been a week of firsts. I have done horseback riding and kayaking. Yesterday I went to an Earth Wind and Fire concert with my bf and his dad (my first time seeing them and my first time hearing all of the songs but 2-3 lol). Sunday will be my first 5k. Monday I am starting pole dancing classes with a friend. Tuesday I will be trying zumba with her. I feel so adventurous!!!

My body is still sore from kayaking yesterday.

You know you LOVE my water shoes:)

BF and I at the concert

Here are pictures from the pole dancing classes. There are 5 levels. I am SOOO pumped. I would LOVE to get to a point where I could do the moves these girls are doing with ease. Right now I can't do a push up. It will take A LOT of work, but these are my goals.

Tonight I babysat for a 4th grader. He ordered pizza. It was VERY hard to resist pizza and eat my mcdonalds salad that I had brought. I cut a slice in half and ate half of a medium slice of pizza. It was about 3 bites, but not really that satisfying. I felt good that I could stay within my goals and not eat more than a half of a slice. The kid I babysat told me to try one of his "frozen yogurts". He put a peach yoplait yogurt in the freezer and we ate it like icecream. INCREDIBLE! This is my new dessert. There are chunks of fruit it in. It was to die for!!

Today I walked the 5k route for sunday with my friend. It was great. It was very pretty. There is one mild hill towards the beginning of the race, but it seems doable. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to take pictures or not while im doing the race. i really love taking pictures and sharing with everyone. Part of the race goes by a train and REALLY expensive houses in the city, but i don't want to have to slow down or walk to take pictures, so i haven't really thought about it yet. on one hand i know i'm not going to win the race so its probably not a big deal to take a few pictures, but on the other hand im kind of competative with myself and want to finish in the fastest time i can. decisions decisions lol.

Here is a picture from the race last year. I couldn't find any pictures from along the route

Those girls must have insane upper body strength to do those moves. If/when you can do them yourself, it will be a HUGE accomplishment! Good luck in your race tomorrow!

Horseback Riding!

Wednesday, June 20, 2012

So we went for a 2 hour horseride in PA in the Evansburg State Park. It is a little north of the King of Prussia Mall. It was great. I was VERY nervous. My horse had an attitude and tried turning around and going back at the beginning. Horses are SO big. We went down a cliff and through a 50 ft wide river! It was not a beginners trail, but very pretty. It went well for my first time ever. The bf's horse decided to lay down and roll over towards the end! That kind of freaked me out. He's worked with a neighbor's horse before so he was able to get off and get back on without injury, but scary. I was nervous, but glad that I did it. This is definitely something that old Sara would have never tried. Tomorrow I will be trying kayaking for the first time ever:)

Here are some internet pictures of where we were.

Here are pictures my bf took because I was too terrified to take my phone out of my pocket HAHA!

Don't mind the incredible sweat stains! I've never sweat so much everrrr.

shaved 6 mins off my 3 mile

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

So i decided to try 3 miles on the trail by our house and i thought death was near lol. However, thats obviously because i have a difficult time pacing myself not on the treadmill. On the treadmill i set it gor 4 mph and cycle in some 4.2's now and again. Ive done it in 49 and 44 mins. Today i did it in 38!!!! My splits for the miles were 12:20, 12:42, and 12:54. My speed at the end was a 7 something min mile. Im def going to need to work on regulating my speed whrn i run outdoors. there were times that my jogging got so slow and desperate i probably could have walked backwards quicker lol. On the treadmill u dont notice now slow u are compared to the world but outside i felt like i was inching along so i wld try to go faster. I also had my bag with my wallet, keys, water bottle, and towel on my back.... plus i went to bob evans this morning (farmers egg white omelet). I might be throwing that back up. I am trying to fight it but it is NOT sitting well right now. Lol as much as i feel like a hot mess, i am still proud of what i accomplished and am looking forward to sun.

Great job! Sorry about the omelet - sometimes the heat/humidity can be a bear to run in around here! emoticon

I always run faster outside too. It's definitely a lot harder to regulate your speed out there! You should be super proud of yourself for doing so well, though!

I know!!! Maybe one day ill travel further away and we can do a race. Arent u near IL or OH??? I cant remember exactly where ur at. Hopefully in oct ill survive my half marathon and can do longer races lol. I ran today without music or anything. I know ur not supposed to during races so i thought id try it. That made it tough. At the gym i usually watch tv and it distracts me. Today my thoughts were very loud telling me my heart was going to explode lol. Im gonna run next time without my bag. I didnt stop to drink water or use my towel so it wasnt really necessary.

    WooHoo! That is awesome!
I reluctantly am becoming a runner...
I am doing an official 5k training, even though I can run further than it calls for, I figured I would try to make it look like I am all serious. LOL!
My Droid, my Adidas, Pandora with the Pop & Hip Hop Workout station playing, and my new (fabulous) Interval App and I hit the road this morning. It went great! It was so hot that I looked like I showered DURING the run.
I wish we lived closer =)
I would do the 5k with you!

So my bf heard about the Baltimore Women's Classic 5k race this Sunday and thought I should try it. I was hesitant because I signed up for my 5k the end of July and wasn't sure I wanted my first race to be one that had that many people, but why not?? It starts at 9am. I don't bartend until 3:00 that day, so I'll definitely be done in time to get to work. I've done 3 miles at the gym (jogging the whole time). I'm slow (44 mins PR), but why not? My biggest fear is comparing myself to other people, but I'm fighting that urge and think I'm going to try it. It's not expensive and looks like fun. He's never been this excited and really wants to support me. Anyone in the Baltimore area want to take the plunge too???

Don't fret about comparing yourself to other people. One of my favorite things about doing 5k races is seeing the variety of people I end up near. My first race, once we had sorted ourselves out and gotten into our rhythms, I was in a mix of people of various ages, genders, shapes, and sizes. Some of us jogged the whole time, some of us run/walked, but all of us finished around the same time. It was so cool!

I am looking SEXY!

Sunday, June 17, 2012

So we went to a wedding yesterday and I have to say that I felt pretty smokin hott! I wore the shoes for about an hour before I switched to flipflops. The pavilion was outdoors and the floor of the pavilion was all cobblestones! I was terrified that I was going to fall and look like a huge loser so I took the shoes off. The important thing was that I got pictures so who cares hahaha! I have never felt as good at a wedding as I did yesterday. Here are pics from a few of the previous weddings I have been to and the wedding from last night. There are 2 weddings that I don't even have pictures of us together, so these were the ones I could find.

HAHA. It's fun tooting one's horn every now and again. It was nice getting a lot of positive comments from my friends on facebook when I posted the pictures. It's nice getting compliments from friends and family when you've been working so hard, you know. Not that I really needed it...I felt so fabulous I didn't really care what anyone thought lol. But it's nice either way.
