Still going strong!

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

So far I am still going strong with my AM workouts! This is my 4th workday in a row!!

Here are my stats so far...

4/13/12, 58 mins, 3.08 miles, 369 calories
4/16/12, 63 mins, 3.47 miles, 381 calories
4/17/12, 56 mins, 2.94 miles, 311 calories
4/18/12, 51 mins, 3.87 miles, 424 calories

I am really proud about today. I did short bursts of jogging during my walk. I went farther than I have been going. It feels great sticking with it and I absolutely have more energy. When I get home after teaching and grad class it is no big deal to make dinner, cut up everything for my lunch the next day, and to lay out my work and exercise clothes for the next day. After a long day I still feel great. Today I averaged a 13 min mile (versus 18-22!!). I am very excited about that. I am definitely looking forward to keeping this up.

Excellent news!

So I am happy to report that I broke the plateau (went from 194 for two weeks to now 192... one more pound and I will no longer be "obese"). I tried to make sure that my calories were higher (closer to around 1400 versus 1200). I also worked out more this week (still burning around 1000 calories a week).

I am also excited to say that this wonderful Monday morning I woke up at 5 and got to school early to walk on the track. On Friday my coworker walked with me, but this morning he wasn't able to do it. However, I took the initiative and went on my own! It was great! The picture below is the pretty sky as I was walking. I walked from 6:15-7:15 and then changed for my class that starts at 7:40. However, it is a fairly warm day today (High's around 85 degrees). Starting at 7 once the sun was completely up it was getting a little warm, so my goal is to continue to walk from 6-7 so it is cooler with less sun. I also improved my walking distance. My pace was around an 18 min mile (versus 20-22). Last Friday I walked for 58 mins and went 3.08 miles. Today I walked for 63 mins and went 3.47 miles! According to my exercise spreadsheet, that's the most I've walked since 8/20/2010!! When I woke up this morning I wasn't tired and after walking I am definitely feeling great about the day. It is awesome being able to walk outside, but still be close enough to the building that I could run inside if I needed to use the bathroom or if I needed to get ready for class. I am really hoping to keep this up. It is really great starting the day like this. Hope everyone else is having a great day as well!

That's great that you are back on board with tracking! The first step is always the hardest... then when you are in the pool the water doesn't feel that bad. I know when I was away from SP and stopped doing what I was supposed to I would avoid the site. I didn't want to have to log in a heavier weight and I didn't want to face the facts. Deep down I knew what I had to do, but didn't want to face it. There was a great quote in the spark book that I love... "You don't drown by falling in the water... only by staying there." It doesn't matter that we had rough phases... the important part is that we are back now. I know I do better when I enter in my food before I eat it. I usually clump it by meals. That allows me to play with options before deciding what I am actually going to eat. The SP app on my phone really helps with that while I am on the go and don't have access to my computer. I am glad to see you again and am looking forward to us seeing some awesome results:)

Flab_to_fitx- I was never a morning workout person, but it really has been great. I had a lot of energy when I woke up this morning and was proud that I was following through with my plan. I pack my lunch and my clothes the night before so all I have to do is get up and go. I have really noticed a difference in my energy level during the day when I work out early. Plus, it makes me feel like I've already checked something off of my to-do list so early in the day.

Hi Sara! I am so happy for you!

I am also doing well. Yesterday I tracked my food for the first time in weeks! (months?) I had gained about ten pounds and I just could not get myself to do what I KNOW needed to be done! But I finally started!

Today, I already tracked in my whole day of food ahead of time. (That is when I really do my best. I figure out my food and then eat it.)

YAY for both of us!!!

Kudos to you! I've always said I would get up before work to hit the gym but I'm never able to - I guess I love sleep too much. But that is great that you can get a workout in before your day really begins!

Photo Update

Saturday, April 14, 2012

We went out last night. I can see that I'm thinner in my chest and neck area. I dropped 0.2 lbs between yesterday and today, so at least I broke my 2.5 week plateau by something! haha. We shall see what my official weigh in tomorrow says.

I never took my measurements before I started but I wish I did. GREAT WORK!

emoticonThe inches are more important than the number on the scale. (Though I do admit a certain morale boost when I see the number go down.)

AM Workout

Friday, April 13, 2012

So I met up with my instructional assistant (who is also the track coach) and he and I walked on the track this morning before school. It was great! We went 3 miles (55 mins). It was pretty chilly this morning and I was very tired when I got up, but I am glad that I actually followed through with going. He only lives 5 minutes from school, so it's not as bad for him. It took me about 40 mins to get to school this morning, so I had to get up at 5:15. I would really like to make it a habit though. I feel very energized and feel very good in my body. I changed my clothes afterwards and feel quite attractive if I do say so myself. Plus I like that I am already so close to my 10k step goal. Hope everyone else has a fabulous day. I am still at 194 right now, but hopefully come Sunday we will finally see a drop.
