So for good news I am down to 200.8. I am definitely ahead of schedule towards my goal of being 160 in aug. I have been eating well and still have not had soda. On the other hand, i am kind of miserable... my bf left yest morning for puerto rico until around tues. I feel like a part of me is missing:( yesterday i sat at school until like 6 or 7 just finding work to do. I feel lost. Im getting my nails redone now and i work tonight, so that should be good. Tom im getting breakfast with his mom and tutor after that. Mon after school im having dinner with a friend. But i still just feel anxious. I dont know how my mom managed when my dad was gone on trips when he was in the airforce.

I really enjoyed getting my nails done. Had myself lunch at a little japanese steakhouse. I havent been to one since i was a kid. Had some shrimp and steak. Quite tasty yet reasonable. Its weird eating alone but def makes the day slow down a little. Think im going to go home and take a nap before work

Awesome about the soda, I haven't had one, it will be 4 years in September. Missing someone is always difficult. Make it a fun day for you, do something that you have wanted to do for a long time.

a little frustrated

This weight loss process really blows my mind sometimes. I havent eaten anything bad this week. Ive stayed in my calorie ranges, have been drinking water, and have been working out. I started at 210. After a few days lost 2 lbs, next day lost 2 more, next day gained 2, and today im back to 210. Ahhhhhh! Its the first week. I need to be losing a lot because in a short while the weight loss will slow down. How is it like this already? Im following all the rules. My only guess is maybe it has to do with the time of the month? Hopefully by sun itll go back down for my official weigh in:-/

I strongly urge you to not weigh yourself daily and to instead take your measurements and your weight first thing in the morning before you eat anything - write it down. Then track everything you eat like you're doing, exercise, etc for say 2 weeks - then take all the measurements all over again. You may see an improvement then that is more motivating. Everday fluctuations are both motivating and humiliating thereby not very helpful in the long run. Try the other method for a couple weeks and see if it helps more - it surely can't hurt!

I've never weighed myself daily, but if you're working out a lot, aren't you also building muscle and those changes would affect your weight as well?

This is normal. Day to day weight reflects many things, and you can't really use it to measure your day to day progress. Other things that will affect your daily fluctuations: how much food is still in your body, water retentions (either from too much salt if you ate out or ate processed foods, hormonal shifts, how much you've been sweating. The reason Beck says we should weigh in daily is to get used to the normality of those fluctuations.

Keep doing what you are doing... focus on your behavior, not the scale. Also, the only reason we generally experience that "just got on my diet" boost is because that usually means dumping a few water-retention pounds. You will do fine with consistent healthy eating and exercise!

The exact same thing happened to me when I started this whole process over. I felt like it was water retention. I struggled a couple weeks and now it's coming off. Be patient. Not easy when the scale moving helps keep the motivation going!

exploding with energy

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

So i woke up tired. Yesterday i was starving all day so i got some advise from fellow sparkers. Today i had two eggs with a slice of cheese on my english muffin. I was full and felt sustained. Later i had a greek yogurt and my normal fruit (strawberries, apple, grapes). I also tried a thinkthin choc covered mixed nut bar to get more protein around lunch. I had some chicken as well. After school i went to grad class and was still finishing my fruit (not hungry yet). After class i came home around 830 and then went to the gym!!!! When i got hone i wasnt hungry but wanted sonething warm so i made naked soup. I boiled a cup and a half of water and added a tsp of chicken broth base in it. I seasoned it like soup and ate that. It was amazing! U wldnt even notice that there werent noodles or anythibg. I stayed in ny ranges and still have so much energy, even at 11 pm. Usually i wldve been asleep 2 hrs ago. I think more protein is def the way to go for me. Cant wait for tonorrow!

taking charge

Monday, February 20, 2012

I am totally taking charge today. I am determined to lose 50 lbs by aug for our puerto rico trip (and my first tropical/out of US trip). I have 25 weeks, so I need to do 2 lbs a week. I just signed up with my bf for a 24 hr gym near our house. I am very excited about that. Last time i was consistent with the gym was around 08/09. I got my nails done today and my toes. Ive been getting my nails done every week and a half and i LOVE it. They look fantastic, i feel fantastic, and i get lots of compliments. Ive been getting hit on more when im out, which is always a nice feeling. I am ready to be a hottie again;)
