I did it! I finished!

I've been wanting to train for a 5k the right way so I joined the "5k Your Way Walk/Jog Program" here on sparkpeople.
During this 5 week program I hit a roadblock around week 3. I hurt my leg and had to get stitches. Once I was able to walk again, I had to slowly work my way back up to where I could jog again.
It took longer than I was hoping (8 weeks), but I did it. Yesterday, I completed my 5k emoticon.

Late Start

It's already the end of January and I'm barely blogging about my goals for the new year. What a procrastinator! Better late than never though.
I didn't reach my goals last year. I'm disappointed about that but I'm not going to let it get me down. This year will be different.

New Goals:

Exercise: start out slow and work my way up
~ 15-20 min. cardio 6 days a week
~ strength training 2-3 days a week

Drink water:
~ 8 cups daily

Eat Healthy:
~ more fruits & veggies
~ stay within my caloric range

Sleep:
~ 8 hrs. each night

Lose Weight:
~ 1-2 lbs. a week
~ keep it off

Me Time:
~ relax and unwind

My Ultimate Goal:
~ be healthy
~ have energy
~ lose 59 lbs. and keep it off
~ hopefully get pregnant by the end of 2011


Well, that's it. I know it's not going to be easy, but I am determined to see this through.

Confused

I don't know what's going on. This whole thing is really confusing to me.
I will be consistent on my workouts, watching what I eat, and drinking my water only to lose a little weight. Now, the other week I didn't do any of those things and still lost weight. Why is that?
I purchased a really nice digital scale not too long ago. It will calculate not only your weight but also your BMI, body fat %, bone, and water.
After working out this week I was hoping for some weight loss. I stepped on the scale this morning and I did lose a little weight but my scale showed that I gained body fat.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

    Hmmm...I know your body will continue to lose weight for awhile even if you do stop exercising. As for the body fat, I don't know.

    It's funny that I happened to read this blog today as I was just reading my instruction manual for my scale this morning. There are a lot of things that can affect your reading of body fat percentage. Anything that changes your hydration will also affect your body fat on the scale. Even bathing, exercising, eating, drinking or the time of month will affect the scales ability to accurately determine your body fat percentage. Try not to worry too much about what the scale says.

My Goals for the Week

So, this is my first blog post. emoticon
I thought I would set some goals for the week.
I've heard that if you write down your goals, you're most likely to keep them.
So here we go.

My goals:
~eat breakfast everyday
~workout at least 20 min. / day for 5 days of the week
~drink 8 or more glasses of water each day
~lose 1-2 lbs.
