Taking a Break

I plan on taking a break after my half marathon, the Winter Challenge and my Running Group weight loss challenges are over this month. I need to work on my relationship with God, get off the computer and tv, stop focusing on the scale, and get focused on my homework.

Cherry Blossom 10 Miler

I completed a 10 mile race in less than 2 hours today and received my first medal. I felt like I really struggled on the second half but I'm proud that I finished. Next up is the Nike Half Marathon on 28 Apr which will be my first half.

Week 2 Challenge Weigh In

Last week was a gain from 162 to 163.5. This week I went from 163.5 to 165.3. I am so disgusted! I know my eating wasn't the best but I didn't think it was the worst either (TOM). I burned about 1600 calories this week (2 physical therapy sessions, daily walks with the dog, 3 mile run, and Slim in 6 video). I would quit the challenge but it would hurt my team mates.

    Hang in there. My weight likes to follow the price of gas - always going up. I am happy to be in the challenge because it is starting to go down, but I am afraid it will start going up again.
I had a relapse yesterday. We went to visit a sick friend in Chicago then stopped at other friends for dinner. We had pizza followed by Apple pie. Need I say more? I promptly put on a couple of pounds overnight. I am confident I will lose it. You will too! emoticon emoticon

    Don't give up! We absolutely don't want you to leave the team b/c of a gain. We've all been there before. It's not fun, but it happens. And it's a small gain that can be rid of very soon.

You said you know you haven't been eating the best and it's TOM, maybe try adding fruits and veggies in as snacks to curb the cravings (if you get them) as a low-calorie snack.

    Sorry to hear of your disappointment and frustration with the scale - if it's any comfort, I know just how you feel!

But I echo the comments of our other Awesome A Team-mates in saying: don't give up. Ignore the scale. Keep making healthy choices and the rest will follow even if not at the timescale we hope for!

Well done on doing all that exercise including a 3-mile run this week!

    Remember that the challenge is to encourage us. If the challenge becomes a discouragement, then you need to get your mind refocused.

Things to keep in mind:
1. Yes, we love you and don't want you to go because of the gain. You're certainly not letting us down! emoticon

2. I can gain up to 5 lbs when TOM comes along. Check out your salt intake. It may all just be water retention. emoticon

3. This may be an indication of a major drop next weigh in. Don't sweat the small stuff, just SWEAT. emoticon

Just wondering, are you counting calories? or just estimating?

    One day at a time, one glass at a time, try filling up a jug that holds 3-4 cups keep it in the fridge, cold water is delicious, you just have to retrain yourself that it is good

What Can I Improve Upon?

In short, everything. But in order not to feel overwhelmed, I'm taking baby steps. I'm concentrating on the water intake right now which I noticed is better on my days off from work. So I am going to improve my water intake at work by making sure my water cup is always full and minimize the diet soda and coffee intake.
