a warm summer day

Tuesday, September 13, 2011

my daughter has lost a few teeth over the summer. she is enjoying grade 1 so far. my birds have been chatting quite a bit these past few days. i am staying on track and enjoying a wide variety of tasty, filling foods. my daughter and i spent lots of time playing outdoors these past few days. she just loves to be active and she keeps me very active, too. she enjoys doing things like colouring, reading, dancing, among others. i encourage her to do things she enjoys and to make a few friends at school. so far, she has made two new friends at school. there is a children's program three times a week at the local ymca, which is close to her school. she wants to go there a few times a week, even if it is not in that program. the school takes them there and adults that the children know pick them up when the program is finished. when she was younger, i used to take her to various programs at the local ymca, ywca and various early years centres. she wants to do that again. have a great day, everyone!

My 3 year old LOVES the Y! I don't know what yours is like, but I imagine they all must be pretty close to the same, and they do have the most wonderful children's programs there!!

a warm day

Sunday, July 31, 2011

a very warm and humid day here today. life has been so hectic this past while. today is the first day in a long time where i had nothing planned for the day and it felt so good. it is just around the time of my anniversary. it would have been our 9th anniversary this year,if my late husband was still alive. in december, it will be three years since his passing. i will always have a special place in my heart for him. he was a part of my life for 6 wonderful years. he gave me a gift others were not willing or able to, a beautiful girl. she is now 6 years old and is doing very well. he always wanted a daughter and he got his wish. i always wanted at least one child and i got my wish. i can just see my husband smiling down from heaven on us, watching over both of us,knowing that we are doing alright. my birds are now used to him not being here. they miss him in their own way. i like to reflect on my life when one month comes to an end and another one begins. there are days where i really miss him and days where i am alright. i am so glad i have so much support from my family, friends and sparkfriends from all around the world. that support has gotten me and my daughter through what was a very trying time in our lives. we continue to get that support whenever we need it. my daughter has become quite the reader. once she was able to read simple words, then sentences, now she can read a simple level 2 children's book on her own. she can read a level 3 children's book mostly on her own. if there is a word she cannot pronounce or has trouble with, she asks. she is looking forward to starting grade 1 this september and she wants to bring her lunch every day. have a great day, everyone. keep cool for those who are experiencing a heat wave.

I feel that our grieve gets softer and for that I am thankful. No one could survive if we stayed in that "just rip my heart out" stage of grieve. I'm glad that your daughter is doing well. I was 6 when my dad died so I know the feeling of not having him in my life. You being a good mom is the best thing your daughter could ask for. Take care. emoticon

a beautiful spring day

Thursday, May 26, 2011

it started off lightly raining this morning, then the sun came out for quite a few hours. now it is cloudy again with more rain on the way, especially overnight. bring it on! i love when it rains. i just stay indoors if there is thunder or lightning with the rain. my daughter and i both have rainboots, raincoats and umbrellas. so whenever it rains, we like to go outside and jump in the puddles a few times. she has shown me that it is okay to just have fun and to not be serious all the time. she is such a sweet, smart, loving child. she is doing well in school and she has started her t-ball games this week. sometimes we see sweetmommy41 and her daughter there, too. same league, just on different teams. we will more than likely play together at least once. she likes that more than soccer. soccer, she will watch more than play. with tball, she gets really involved and does not stop moving unless the coaches have told her to sit on the bench inbetween the times when it is her turn to bat. she also uses her own bat, too. she told me that she hits the ball better with it and i noticed that this week. she has me practicing catching, throwing and hitting the baseball before her game starts. have a great day, everyone!

That is so nice to read of the bonding the two of you are doing and the lesson she taught us all through your story -- it is okay to have fun, even if we are so-called mature adults. Fun doesn't know our age so keep jumping in those puddles. I, too, love rainstorms but have to admit it has been far too long since I played in the rain. So, the next storm we get, I am going to get wet and find a puddle to jump in. emoticon emoticon -- Lou

a terrific spring day

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

a day to get outdoors and enjoy! my daughter loves it when we go outside and just play. to see the smile on her face and to hear her laugh is worth it. she has shown me that even adults need to just have fun, too! everyone needs a break in their day to do something fun and relaxing. my birds love it whenever i put on some budgie bird videos on the computer. they chirp and chat in reply until the videos stop. it is supposed to rain on and off every day until friday, when there will be sunshine and milder weather, too. rain or shine, i love to spend time outdoors every chance i get. i will most definitely be going to see the new pirates of the carribean movie this weekend. i am a huge fan of johnny depp and of those movies. i have not missed one since the first one came out. have a fabulous day, everyone!

I often find myself spending too much time with the computer -- Internet, writing, editing -- but when I do go outside, the warm (hot here in FL) sun and the breeze does seem to rejuvenate and refresh. No wonder the dogs run and play and roll around in the grass and sometimes just sprawl out and soak up the sun's rays. -- Lou

Beautiful day here in Tampa Bay area. Cool front came thru, lowered humidity and cooled off the high 80s temps. Have my windows open tonight. I like it best when I can enjoy Mother Nature's weather and you don't shiver and you don't sweat. Best of all worlds.

a mild spring day

Saturday, May 14, 2011

it was a mostly cloudy day here today and mild temperatures, too. my daughter just wanted to go outside once today. my birds love this kind of weather. not too hot and not too cold. there were so many birds chirping outside today. that kept my birds busy all day long. now they are eating and having a cool drink of water. my daughter is sitting quietly colouring. then she will be working on one of her many activity books she has. on a rainy day, we mostly stay indoors. thanks so much for naming me pampered princess of the week. i really appreciate it and i have been really enjoying myself so much. i am down a pound this week, thanks to the efforts of my exercise program and my daughter's help. i feel great! have a fabulous weekend, everyone! the wiggles are a children's entertainment group. my daughter is a huge fan.
