If you remember; I signed up for an internet group coupon a few weeks ago which was a 12 week session of Bootcamp for a very reasonable price. The best part was three of my friends also signed up under my name, so my fee was waived.
Already a big Woo Hoo!! and I hadn't even started yet...
This bootcamp has been a total blast and right up my fitness interest and challenge. I like to sweat when I exercise (I know...gross!). I like to mix things up in circuit training. I enjoy being around other people. I like fast paced. This really does it!
The owner, Ryan, emphasizes working out in your heart rate zone, so learning to wear and using one has been enlightening. As soon as my HR goes over, I hit the ground (well, not literally), lay on my back and do tushy squeezes to get it back in my zone. That zone is where you burn the most fat.
The coaches basically think for you, which is great at 7 a.m. They think of nasty exercises for us to do, intermingled with weight machines and cardio. They challenge and remind us to put the effort out and even add their own body weight to what you are already doing. For instance, as I am holding a V-sit to work on the core, they will come behind you and gently add their weight to your shoulders to make sure you stay strong. Love it!
I was measured at the beginning of the month in 13 different areas. Thought I would just see where I was after 7 workouts.
So...drum roll please....apparently I lost 16 "!!! I couldn't believe it! I still have a hard time believing that. Of course, it is in 13 different areas. I certainly feel more toned and stronger. My pants have already been baggy because I have been working out for a while and just haven't bought too many smaller jeans yet.
So I asked my husband Ron. Husbands should know about these things...right? : )
He said he thought my FACE looked thinner!! What? I mentioned to Ron that they didn't measure my face! What a hoot!
So...I think I will join the Bootcamp for a year. My challenge will be the distance I have to drive to get there and wanting to be outside more when the weather warms upping my running again. However, this class I join will only be 2X a week, instead of 3. That schedule will keep things a bit more fresh all around.
So I am celebrating my biggest loser status of 16 "! Even in my face. : )

New Year's resolutions are really not for me. I like to evaluate my life however, and think of things, character traits, goals that I would desire to work on in my life throughout the year. Last year one of my goals was to train and run a half marathon.
On our local Christian radio station, the emphasis for the first few weeks on January was "one word". Think of one word that might be yours for the year. Something to easily remember and to apply in different areas of your life.
I had been praying and thinking of what my one word might be! Would it be disciplined, self-control, focus...etc. All fabulous traits! But they didn't speak or catch where I wanted to go.
As I was in the car early one morning while on the way to bootcamp, the song from Matthew West came on.
"I don't wanna go through the motions
I don't wanna go one more day
Without your all consuming passion inside of me.
I don't wanna spend my whole life asking
"What if I had given everything
instead of going through the motions.""
Passion! That was my word I felt God leading me towards.
*Passion for my Lord and Savior; Jesus
*Passion for my husband
*Passion for my family
*Passion for others and to let them know about Jesus
*Passion for my health
To live in such a way that I would give everything, instead of going through the motions.
What would your one word be, my sparkfriends?

Yes! Gooooo Team Gooooo!
One of the blessings of being involved with a Sparkteam is to encourage and cheer each other on!
I certainly have loud enough pipes to lead cheers, and I have the energy to jump up and down! Alas, it was the lack of doing cartwheels, walkovers, the short height, the short, curly hair and glasses that just wasn't a great combination to be chosen for the squad when I was in high school in the 70's. Plus I am sure other things as well! : )
So, imagine my delight when three girlfriends signed up to join me for the fitness bootcamp. Two of them will be starting their first class tomorrow morning! I am so excited for them and love the idea of being an encouragement for them. For these gals to begin (and continue) their journey towards health and fitness is really a blessing.
All of you are little sparklers for me, and I sure strive to do the same for you. Isn't life much more "cheery" when you have a team to yell "atta girls" , and encourage you, and lift you up, and give you high fives and listen and pray for your concerns and rejoice in your victories?
