BACK HOME!

Friday, May 13, 2011

This is the first time I have blogged x2 in one day. I got home about two hours ago. First, every few years ) go through this. I get very ill but go through all kinds of tests. Yet they can never pinpoint what's wrong. They always assure me they have no doubt that there is something wrong, but, no test they have finds it. Several years ago, they told me that if I were to have a heart attack, I may never be aware of it. I could be walking across the floor and just drop! That's comfortting isn't it! I always say I'm not going back to the hospital again. Today I was to go to Christines. I'll go out next weekend. I was really concerned this morning. It somehow seemed different.

Blessings,
Janet

I hope you start feeling better. I hate it when you don't feel good and they can't find anything wrong with you.

THE DAY AFTER!

Thursday, May 12, 2011

First of all ladies, I want to thank everyone for their prayers and helpful tips. I was pleastantly surprised, they both went well. I couldn't have done it on my own. I had 5 terrific committee members and two volunteers daily. All I had to do was ask, and, they carried through. Or, they would ask me what I wanted them to do next, and, they carried through! Till yesterday was over, we were all dragging. We were on our feet, in a hot and humid kitchen. Tuesday, from 9:30 a.m.---3:30 p.m.. Yesterday, from 9:30 a.m.---4:45 p.m.. I wonder when the Fibro and CFS will hit. Looking at my schedule, I don't have a 'free' day till aweek from today! So, more Prayers are needed.

777Grace gave me a number of ideas which I used aome and will be using more next time. However, I thought this might be a place for you ladies tell us what you have found that works. I would also like to twick our menu if I can get approvial from our Pastoral staff.

So, ladies come on----

I better get on with my to-do list for the day.

Blessings,
Janet

TRYING TO MAINTAIN MY SANITY!

Monday, May 09, 2011

I know this is an odd time of day for me to be blogging.

You would not believe what I have been doing today. I did do my share of the laundry. Other than that, I have spent my time either on the phone or over at Church.

I am chairperson of the benevolence committe. We are having a funeral dinner and expecting 100 people for the meal. I almost went spastic! I found this out saturday. We are to be ready to serve at 12:45 p.m.. At that time, I have to contact my commitee. They in turn each have a list of Church women to call to get them to donate a 9x13" dish of a particular food. For this we need 10 dishes of each. All this for tomorrow. Then, the women bring the food to the Church.

Okay, that's not the end of it. I found out this morning we will be having another funersl dinner Wednesday at 1 p.m.! This time we are expecting 100-150 people! Now I am about to loose it. Two of the committe works, so, I have had to round up extra help. The wheels are turning for Wednesdays. When it rains, it pours. I know the good Lord doesn't put any more on your shoulders than you can handle. I just wish he didn't trust me so much. He sees something I sure don't.

So, tomorrow and Wednesday when you all are enjoying your leisure LOL, think of me.

Blessings,
Janet emoticon

Thank you so much for sharing. I understand the amount of pressure that you are under but the church family knows you can handle it otherwise they wouldn't have trusted you with. I'll be praying for you!

Oh, I forgot to ask you. Does your church have a budget for your committee? We have written a letter a long time ago and made a policy in our church that if a church member passes away, our church budget pays for the main dish. It is always fried chicken at K-Mart. it is the least expensive around here. Over 100 peices runs about 60 dollars. Not much money but a nice gesture from the church and it helps the ladies in the church, all they have to make is side dishes and desserts!!!

My mother and I do dinners like that on a regular basis. If you share your need, God will increase the food that is there. Funeral people I have found don't eat too much as a rule. (like a ladies dinner) God will provide, if you begin to panic, order pizza and have it delivered. 2 Large bags at Sam's club will feed 100 people. only 2.99 per bag. My mom and I always provide the salad, it's cheap and filling. Get some cheap lemonade, buy one lemon to cut up and float in it and you are good to go. I wish we did live closer, my mother is retired and would head the whole thing and is a whiz bang. Remember, God will provide, don't worry. I have never seen a funeral with too little food. People always bring too much and you have to give most of it away. Let us know how it goes. and remember, write down about how much food was there and keep track. My mom did for years and now we use it as a guide line to help us remember how much to ask for to order. Cut most thinks in half. People waste too much food, if you cut it smaller they will take a sample, if they don't like there is not much waste. BTW only take out half the food in the beginning of the dinner. All the others leave in oven or refig. Give the people less choices and then the lines goes faster. You know there will be three potatoe dishes at least. Take out as they dishes get empty and replace. This will make sure the people in back of the line get hot food and like they are going to get something "fresh". Try it and let us know how it all goes.!!!

Once again as I read your blog, there is an odd familiarity to it. If I don't do it, it won't get done. I admire your dedication and sense of responsiblity, but there comes a time when it it taken for granted that it will be done because you will see to it. You will-God uses you as a tool in many ways. However, you can be of no help if you try and do it all every time. Sometimes, (still working on this one) you need to learn when it becomes time to delegate. Perhaps God has lessons in all of this for you.
He is with you and will show you what he wants from you. Listen for his small, still voice. It is deep within. emoticon emoticon

WHAT WE NEED IS PRAYER!

Saturday, May 07, 2011

Ladies, as all of you know by now, Jesse is having his left foot amputated! So, let's uphold them in Prayer!

I wasn't even going to blog today, but, I just had to share something with all of you. I am so excited! I had ordered ANOTHER Bible. This one is the Women's Devotional Bible from Guideposts. Years ago I had one, and one of the girls wanted it; so, I gave it to them. With the intension of getting another one some time. I haven gotten other wonderful ones over the years. But, now I got one! It's amazing what all is in it. Another thing I like about it, if you have a particular situation it tells you the scripture to help you deal with it. Isn't that wonderful?

Anyway, my point is:
With everything that is going on in the world, we are all mindful of what could happen. If not, just watch the news today!
When you are uncertain about the future.
Jeremiah 29: 4-14

And, I must throw this one in:
When Satan targets you
2 Thessalonians 3: 1-5
