productive day

Thursday, December 02, 2010

I wanted so bad to stay in bed this morning because it was cold in the house. But I had to go to work instead. lol. Since I got up after I fought with myself for a while I also did my exercises. By the time it was all said and done I was very glad I got up and also did my exercises. Sometimes you just have to push through between what you want to do and what needs to be done. Had a productive day and stayed between my calories also. emoticon

Well said, that is what I did today. I went for a late swim last night and woke
exhausted this morning. I had a very productive day, and fit in a 1.5 miles walk.
So, yes we can push through anything! Glad your day ended well.

Day with grandbaby

Wednesday, December 01, 2010

Today as day 2 of my recommitment to myself I exercised this morning for 30 minutes and used my hand weights. Fixed a big salad for lunch for my daughter , granddaughter and myself for lunch. It was a tossed salad with grapes, kidney beans, sunflower seeds and ff italian dressing. Oh and rice cheese. It was very good. Watched my granddaughter while my daughter was at work. I loved the days that I get her. She is 3 and constant motion. Today though she is not feeling good. Still am having a very good day. emoticon

Recommitment to myself

Tuesday, November 30, 2010

Today I have had to take a step back and renew my commitment to healthy eating and exercising . I am totally vegan and haven't swayed from that but since Thanksgiving I have had a hard time staying focused on the healthy eating and losing weight. I lose weight slowly anyway and I really have to pay attention to what I'm am doing. I know I can do this and haven't done bad just not as good as I should. I am 54 yrs old and have really bad joint problems along with having one knee replaced and babying the other knee because it needs it. Not whining just facts. When I exercise it helps my joint problems. I have lost around 34 pounds all together so far so I know I can do this.
So this blog is my recommitment to myself. Plain and simple. I will track everything I eat. I will do some form of exercise everyday and stay focused.

New vegan life

Wednesday, October 06, 2010

I used to be vegetarian for about 6 years. Thought I was missing something and went back to eating meat for a few years. I felt awful for several reasons. I went back to being a vegetarian in July. In Sept I decided to do the 21 day vegan kickstart . I loved it. My daughter and I decided to stay that way. She has been veg. since she was 12. She is 32 now. I feel wonderful. It feels right. Like this is the way it was meant to be. Something happened the other day that just confirmed it. One of my customers ( I am a produce manager) that I hadn't seen for awhile came in the store. While we were talking she told me how much healthier I was looking now. She is a retired nurse. She said that the last time she was in the store she thought I looked bad. LOL. She said she didn't mean that the way it sounded but I looked unhealthy. I told her I was vegan now and she said that she was exploring going that way too. She said after seeing my face and how different I look she was definetly going to do that. We also talked about all the other reasons too. Way too many to say here. Of course I had no idea how bad I had looked before but I knew I felt so much better now. Thank God I found the Kickstart wesite. I truly believe this is the way it is meant to be.

There's not much in the non-vegan life that I miss! I will have to say ice cream and hot dogs -- maybe I'll learn to love the vegan substitutes someday! I feel so much better eating vegan and I'm beginning to try new recipes with some new foods I've never tried before. I can't believe I grew up without tasting mangos and kiwi.

I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian. I have been most of my life. It really is a wonderful road to travel. :)

sunday walking

Sunday, May 31, 2009

Today has been a very good day. Went to church and talked my sister-in-law into walking at the city lake park. We walked four times around which is 31/2 miles. I have tracked all my calories for the day and it is good. Now getting ready for another Monday.
