Wow, this became a crazy week, and I admit that the further behind I got, the harder it was to start again. However, I've allowed this type of attitude to get me before; that's why I'm back to finish what I started!
DAY 22: SOMETHING I WISH I WAS BETTER AT:
Definitely not my strength to begin with, but compound that with a poor attitude toward the subject at a very early age and you've got remedial skills on your hands!!!
DAY 23: FAVORITE BOOK AND WHY:
It's been several years since I read this book, and I'll admit that I don't read as much as I'd like to, but it was entertaining, challenging and just mesmerizing for me! I love the book so much that I can't bring myself to watch the movie for fear of disappointment...
DAY 24: PICTURE OF WHAT I WOULD FIND IN MY BAG:
I don't leave home without it!
DAY 25: FAVORITE SUPER HERO AND WHY:
I am grasping a little bit on this one...What can I say, I like the movies. Probably picked it just as much for Robert Downey, Jr. So glad to see someone as troubled as he was make a comeback!
DAY 26: SOMETHING THAT MEANS A LOT TO ME:
Every year since they were born, both my kiddos get an ornament from me and my husband that is added to their Christmas collection box. I take a picture of them with their ornaments and put it in their scrapbooks along with a little story of why they got the ornament. This is from '09, and they both happened to get similar sleigh bells b/c we had watched The Polar Express several times together that season. It's just a nice little tradition that means a lot to me and will hopefully mean a lot to them, too.
DAY 27: MYSELF AND A FAMILY MEMBER:
Me and my hubby...He's a keeper! :)
DAY 28: SOMETHING I'M AFRAID OF:
This is melanoma, and it scares me big-time. I have a fairly extensive history of this cancer on my maternal side. Luckily, everyone has had it detected very early in all cases to this point (my mom, grandma, uncle), including myself. While my mom died from ovarian cancer, some recent genetic studies are finding links between ovarian cancer and melanoma. Mine was found back in 2000, and fortunately the cancer was removed with the initial biopsy (proven by the more extensive one that followed). I see my dermatologist every six months and usually have at least one mole biopsied each time. So far, all have been benign...but I feel like it's not so much a matter of IF I'll have it again vs. will I catch it in time. So, yeah...I'm afraid of melanoma, but I'm doing my best to stay ahead of it.
