Blogging vs. Doing

No doubt about it, it is more important to do the actions than blog about them.

However, it really isn't a question of either or. I really can do both. The blogging need't be long and involved. It can help me focus and re-evaluate. I can record healthy new habits so if life starts to get in the way and I fall off the track, I can look back and see what worked before. If I do it here, it can also give me some good feedback.

Back from vacation, back into logging...

Well during my vacation, I stopped logging my calories, went visiting, went to some restaurants, gained a few pounds and then lost them (because we came home I stopped going to restaurants and focussed on cooking healthy meals after the first week.)

It took me a week to get back into logging my food again. However, I am doing it now. My younger daughter is challenging me to step up my exercise program, so I guess that is next.

Why blog?

I've been thinking I should get back to blogging for awhile now, but for some reason just have not been doing it.

I looked back at past blogs I have written and ask myself why I stopped. I really don't know.

OK, I know some of it. I felt too pressed for time. I thought I was spending too much time on the computer. Logging was also a problem. I felt that logging was taking time that I could be exercising or doing other things.

I think the logging here as improved in the past year. With the new setup it does not take nearly as long.

I am getting back to logging my food and exercise. Logging is good because it keeps me accountable. More than that, it teaches me things. I love the reports showing me that I need more calcium or whatever. Logging helps me make healthy choices.

I think blogging does too, so I think it is time to start blogging again.

    I noticed that blogging always came last in all the sparking I do each morning. SO I viwed to blog every day during 2012. This goal I have not met, think I have missed about four days or so, but I stick to the goal anyway - 90 procent will not be bad and a good practice for me that is a all-or-nothing-person...good luck!

    blogging or journaling can help just recap things in your mind....of course, blogging puts it out there for others to see & comment on-I journal most days & blog maybe once or twice a month, but I enjoy reading others'!!! emoticon

    Good for you! It can be very helpful, especially if your using it for accountability. I need to use it for that reason, and I like to keep track of my goals and mini-challenges this way, but when I go to write one, sometimes it seems silly. It's really just stuff to myself, not entertaining or meaningful to anybody else. But I guess that what it's for anyhow!

Small Victory

I am really happy that in the past 3 months I have not gained any weight. True, it would have been better if I could report a loss, but considering the difficulties I have been facing the past 3 months, I am really happy not to just not have gained. Usually I gain during times of great stress. This time I did not.

I am very thankful to those who have helped me during this time.

I think now it is time to take steps to start moving the number on the dial down!

  Bonjour, Je suis membre de "Spark francophone". Je me réjouis avec vous! Bravo! C'est un accomplissement de ne pas engraisser pendant les périodes de grand stress, j'en sais quelque chose. En décembre dernier, j'ai finalement été capable d'arrêter d'engraisser et de renverser la vapeur, en grande partie grâce au soutien de mes amies de SP. Mais depuis la fin février, j'ai atteint un plateau et j'essaie de trouver comment recommencer à descendre.
