For someone who never weighed herself until two years ago (I didn't need to most of my life), I now own two "good" scales. Neither agrees with the other, so I've stored the one that scores my weight higher. It must be way off. (smiling)

After 1.5 years on SP, and almost 2 total years of this healthier lifestyle change, I have not let the scale become the master of my fate. Yes, I understand the other benchmarks for success and have used measurements, clothing fit, etc. to judge my progress.

But lately I've been more diligent about keeping myself posted on current poundage. It goes something like this...

I figure the scale's parts are "cold" when I first step onto it, so I weigh about five times. Each time, I get a different number despite not standing in tricky positions to appear lighter. (smiling) Then I ponder my past math class and wonder if I should take the mean, median, or mode.

If I remember correctly, the mean would be averaging all five numbers. Adding, then dividing. Whamo - my "true" weight. Or, I can take the median - the number that arrives in the middle of the other four. And the mode - the number that repeats the most often. Why do I do this to myself? It just comes naturally! (smiling)

Since there was no repeat number this morning, and I was too lazy to average, I went for the median. Hooray for me! Who knows what I'll choose next time?
