Reassessing Rocking Shoes & Other Thoughts

Sunday, June 20, 2010

I recently critiqued the new rolling athletic shoes I got and said they stunk. And that they caused my back to hurt. I want to reassess them with new info.

Looks like I rushed to judgment and now feel that I like them! First of all, I did not know I was supposed to ease into wearing them. I just dove in, as I do with many things in life. (smiling) I now walk well in them and feel the positive effects in my legs and butt. Additionally, I tried on another brand today and they were a dream. Didn't buy them, but was just curious if they varied by brands. They do. So, that's that.

I have to say that I haven't been on the scale in about a month now. I just forgot about it since I've been on this forever plateau for, well, forever. (it seems) But two friends have separately told me that I look a bit more slimbo than ever. Hooray for me! Guess I'll have to do the scale routine soon just for curiosity.

Finally, a couple of thoughts about the SP website. I have done all of the poll questions and so what happens now? I know there is a way to reset the old articles, but how about poll questions? And it amazes me, no matter how many times I've taken the quiz with the same questions over and over, that I still have days when I get five incorrect. Seems someone isn't paying attention, is she?

Wishing all a wonderful day.

RE: Shoes: The brand 'Skechers Shape-Ups' is what I bought, and they worked for me right out of the box. Is that the brand you liked, too?

emoticon on getting SLIMBO, too!

LOL....we are so much alike sometimes!....At this time the polls can't be reset like the articles and they make new polls at a snails pace so that's one less way to get points... emoticon Now Trivia....I can get 100% and then again...like this morning...yikes...its like I don't know a thing LOL I'mblaming it on my DH not bringing me my coffee yet! emoticon I still have mixed feelings about my shoes...they do work the butt and thighs, I can feel it, can't wear them every day and when I tried that I had a spot on the bas of my feet that felt like I was standing on a rock at times...I decided they are not an every day shoe....will I buy anoher pair when these are worn? The jury is still out.

Now, it's probably been a freeing thing to ignore the scale...your friends I'm sure are the best guage...how do your clothes fit? Sounds like a non scale victory to me!!

I Know I'm Making Progress When.... (#3)

.... I have no trouble downing 10-12 glasses of water. I've always been a drinker (water), so this is not a tough one to remember. But I can definitely feel the difference on the rare days when I lag behind. My body is so used to being well-hydrated.

Wishing all a wonderful day.

I feel it too! There are alot of people who make a very convincing argument about 8 glasses not needed; but in my body there is a drastic difference in how I feel and think when I drink two 2-liters of water two days in a row.

I Know I'm Making Progress When.... (#2)

... I look into my grocery cart at the checkout and am amazed that it's my cart. I inwardly marvel, "Wow, look at all that healthy stuff. Could it really be my cart? Yes, this year and a half adventure into better health has taught me to make a list (check it twice) and look at nutrition labels on the packages.

Granted, I still have a way to go in being the ideal grocery gal shopper, but hey, I'm making progress! Hooray for me!

Wishing all a great day.

(p.s. Both concerts last night were just sooooo much fun.)

Isn't it amazing when you can see how the small changes we've made start to add up and show? Every once in a while I am reminded of how my husband and I are both choosing different foods and beverages and portion sizes....it's been so gradual that it doesn't seem like much but it's there. Good for you!

I Know I'm Making Progress When.... (#1)

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

...I'm headed to the county fair today - whose theme btw is "food" -and not a bit worried about my choices.

Why? Certainly not because I make perfect choices after a mere 1.5 years of healthier eating (after a lifetime of poor habits), but because I have learned to do several things. Look for healthier food while there. Drink lots of water. Have a healthy snack before leaving so that I'm not famished. Don't get into the "what the heck, it's a holiday" mode of thinking and then dig into a ginormous Texas donut.

I bought a pass that will admit me free any number of times until July 5 to enjoy all sorts of music they will have there. Tonight will be Dennis DeYoung (former lead singer of Styx) and Foghat. Next week will be Kenny Loggins, Lou Graham (Foreigner), and Lonestar. I love all kinds of music from all different eras.

As for food, I will enjoy myself. But that doesn't mean overstuffing. Throughout the past year and a half I've learned to eat to live, rather than live to eat. Still learning, but have come a lonnnnng way, baby! (smiling)

Wishing all a wonderful day.

    Sounds like great fun!

I usually just don't eat at fairs, which saves lots of calories. Do love me some funnel cake, but it's so not worth the calories (and always share it if I do indulge.
