Plateau Woes

Tuesday, June 01, 2010

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
My plateau is my way
To a total boo hoo.

Working hard
To lose more weight
But nothing happens
So I debate.

Should I continue
This life of food woes
When the plateau tells me
No matter what way I go

I'll stay the same weight
And not lose a pound,
So I ate a whole watermelon
That'll make me round.

So tired of trying
But don't wanna be fat
Can't have it both ways
Here I go, where's the mat?

I'll huff and I'll puff,
Continue to try.
But if I don't lose more weight soon
I think I'll just cry.

What a great poem. But you are not alone. Plateaus seem to be a rite of passage for those of us on the path. Change up your exercise program, eat at the lower end of your calorie range, shake it up. It will pass and you will get off that plateau.

Do NOT cry! Congratulate yourself for all the hard work you've done. Maintaining weight you've lost is way better than yo-yoing. And the real point is to eat healthy, right? That's the most important thing!

Oh dear look at those thighs !
Said Cheri as she rubbed her eyes!
This plateau is no longer quaint ,
I must lose weight soon or I'll faint !

Rhyming My Weigh With Water

Sunday, May 30, 2010

Water, to me, is as needed as air.
I drink and I drink with not even a care
About soft drinks or coffee, as far as I see
There's nothing like water - as good as can be!

You are so letting your creativity shine thru! I'm with you. I used to take a sip of DH's soda once in a blue moon when I had a sweet craving -- now, frankly, it wouldn't even enter my mind.

    Water,water liberally laced with ice,
there is nothing quite so nice,
Juice is as nice as can be,
but unfortunately not calorie free.
With you I have to agree
Water is the way to go I see!

Remembering

Saturday, May 29, 2010

In thinking of my Uncle Sal,
He was my uncle, was my pal.
At 16 he signed his name
And then a Navyman became.
Grandma cried to see her son -
A child whose life had just begun
Go to fight in the Korean War,
But Uncle Sal would hear no more.
To serve his country was his love,
A calling he thought from above.
An honor, he would say if here
This was a guy I hold most dear.
For now he's gone and my heart aches
With love cause he had what it takes
To stand for what he knew was right
Regardless of the risks, he'd fight.
I do not need a holiday
To think of him and others this way.
For love abounds in my heart each day
For those who stand for the truth and way
Of freedom that beams bright always
I am thankful to all who gave/give their days.

(With much love to Uncle Sal and all those who serve/d.)

Rhyming My Weigh Through Stress #4

Friday, May 28, 2010

Earthquakes abound each and every day,
Crime rises nearby in so many ways.
Drivers make their own rules as they drive,
Gosh, I'm surprised I'm even alive!

The cortisol from this stress makes me fat,
So what is it I can do with all that?
Drink water, keep moving, remember the fruit,
Veggies and beans, vitamins to boot.

One of these days I'll cope better with stress,
But if it weren't for sparkfriends, I must confess
Someone close by would surely put me in
This city's place called the loony bin.
