A Free Global Womens Telesummit - May 1- May 8

Thursday, April 22, 2010

Can't believe it's been weeks since I blogged. This from a person who did so daily for over a year! Yikes!

A friend just sent me info about this free telesummit that I thought others might be interested in. It is described as:

"The 8-day program will explore many facets of being an inspired woman including: feminine leadership, women's health, communication, relationships, manifestation skills, sensuality, community organizing, spirituality, and much more.

Panel dialogues will focus on questions of importance to women, which will then seed your conversation with other participants.
Each day will also include networking opportunities to advance your work.

Never before have so many top women leaders gathered on the phone to offer their secrets, stories, advice, and encouragement to other women. It promises to be a dynamic week of personal transformation, powerful dialogues, and inspiring circles - all without expense or travel. This event is not like other teleseminar series - you will be an active co-creator and collaborator through breakout groups, collaboration circles, and more.

You can participate live on as many calls as you like and interact with both the leaders and other participants via a state-of-the-art MaestroConference platform.

Or you can just listen to the recordings later at your convenience since all will be taped.

The Summit runs from May 1st to May 8th and is completely free. Please do share this invitation with friends and allies - all are warmly welcomed to participate. While the event is geared towards women, men may participate as well."

Faulty Vision

Wednesday, April 07, 2010

And I don't mean my eyesight. Unfortunately, all the SP collages, photos on the fridge, etc., have not created a real vision for me of my goal. Without that, I have no rudder. As Jonathan Swift said, "Vision is the art of seeing things invisible." I think I've been so busy with the here and now - including so many close to me being sick and dying - that I've lost my ability to visualize. I'm going to work at getting it back.

Just checking in to see how you're doing -- "okay" is way better than "not okay" but it sounds as if you have a lot of pressures going on right now. A vision is good -- you have been successful over a long period of time and maybe can have faith in yourself that the vision will return.

Remember that old saying "Life is what happens when you are busy making plans"? We get so busy in our day to day and moment to moment lives that we forget to turn off the TV and the lights and go to a quiet place to reflect on how everything fits together. We give so much of ourselves away that there is little left for ourselves and by the time we get a chance to look, we don't know who we are! Take the time to seek the quiet and the silence you need to get to know yourself again. Nourish your soul and have some fun. emoticon

Fortitude - Part 2. (and why it's important for me to think more about this)

Tuesday, April 06, 2010

Last blog, I posted about my new little "WOW!" book. I randomly opened it, and what chapter did I need the most? Fortitude.

Since I've been thinking about taking a break from SP, as well as a couple of other things in my life, it was good for me to read the quotes and contemplate what fortitude really means. It's more than some wise platitudes by those I quoted last time.

According to this book, it takes fortitude to keep going when the going gets tough. That anything worthwhile in life means that we're going to encounter obstacles. It takes fortitude to fail and go right back in there and try again, this time maybe in a different way.

I've never been a quitter, but I've recently had a great deal of losses (deaths) and other personal challenges. I feel that my motivation has waned. Two remaining quotes from this chapter are worth sharing.

"The road to success is dotted with many tempting parking places." - Unknown

"One ship drives east and another drives west
With the selfsame winds that blow.
'Tis the set of the sails
And not the gales
That decides the way to go." - Ella Wheeler Cox

Wishing all a wonderful day. As for me, I'll try things another way instead of quitting.

It's so difficult when we try, try, try, and we don't seem to get any results. But I know for sure that if I stop trying, I will give up, and I'll go back to the way I was 2 years ago. I accept that there may be a time in my life that that happens, but I'm not going down without a fight!

Thank you for posting these. I hope you can find another way to do things, so you don't quit. I know that things can get in our way..we seem to feel that we are struggling so much and not getting anywhere. I am there right now too, but I am just going to change my habits a little and see if that will get my scale moving again. Keep on keeping on! I'm pulling for you!!

Thoughts from my new "WOW" book on "Fortitude."

Monday, April 05, 2010

I picked up a new little book called, "WOW! Celebrations for the successes of life." Not that I've had too many lately, but that's just the point. I might at any time; one never knows.

On the topic of fortitude, I found the following quotes helpful to ponder and thought I'd share:

Even a mistake may turn out to be the one thing necessary to a worthwhile achievement. - Henry Ford

Success is relative. It is what we can make of the mess we have made of things. - TS Elliot

Troubles are often the tools by which God fashions us for better things. - Henry Ward Beecher

Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. - Thomas Edison

Do not quit! Hundreds of times I have watched people throw in the towel at the one-yard line while someone else comes along and makes a fortune by just going that extra yard. -E. Joseph Cossman
