Paying It Forward - To Myself

Friday, March 26, 2010

I have decided to take this weekend to really look closely at my program. One thing I have decided to do, and I hesitate to write about it since it's almost insane (but what fun!), is that I am rewarding myself for my results in June - before I achieve the results. Why?

Well, for one thing, I try to be a person of my word and keep my commitments. And that includes commitments to myself. I told myself that I would get my great reward and then be obligated to achieve my goal. Okay, it's three months from tomorrow, so we're talking about the end of June and approximately 90 days? Tomorrow the countdown starts and I plan to put the pedal to the metal now.

And, by some chance, if i fail to meet my goal? I'm not thinking I will fail. But just in case... then I have to give back my reward. Which would be a huge disappointment.

To all who've taken the time to steer me in the right direction, a hearty thank you. Have a great evening.

There is no way you will be giving back that reward! We will be right here cheering you on.If you can do it I can do it too.I want to be wearing a much smaller dress size when Kayleigh gets married and she can't get married till her Dad comes back from Afghanistan but I have my eye on a royal blue one and I refuse to buy it till I can fit it so I will work for a reward too but My three month reward will be something it will kill me to give back LOL !I'll think on it and we can compare notes !Shame you can't come and join us for dinner maple salmon skewers are very healthy and we could talk plan ! LOL! The only problem is that couple of thousand miles travel time LOL!

Reassessing My Plateau

Thursday, March 25, 2010

I have battled with a plateau for so long now. The Beck book talks about a long-duration plateau being a possible message from the body saying that I am at my goal weight.

However, I asked a sparkfriend today how she dealt with plateaus while in the process of losing 70 lbs. She said to take an honest look at what I'm eating and doing.

I'm going to sit this weekend and take a candid look at what's up with me and my body. I'm tired of working hard and getting nowhere.

Great advice. Looking back occasionally is good in all things as long as we don't look through rose colored glasses. Best wishes.

I think that even if it weren't for the plateau this is good advice and a great plan. A true eval of where we are and what we're doing can really help a peson to determine if their body is where it needs to be. Have a great weekend soul search! emoticon

Excellent advice! Time to reassess everything to see if there is an area that needs to adjusted.
Have a great Friday and stay positive! emoticon

I've read that sort of advice, too. And I just know in my bones that 139 for a 5'1" woman is still not a healthy weight. I am happy here, but the bottom line is I want to be all I can be -- and that means healthy, too.

I continue to closely examine what I eat, try to tweak things . . .and believe that someday that scale will move, and KEEP moving, again.

Sometimes your body needs time to adjust, sometimes you need to make changes. Your determination will help you find the path you need to take.
WTG on being honest.

I am wondering too if you are retaining some of the weight as a cushion for the stress afterall you have alot of other things going on , for ages after the accident I was struggling to lose and it seemed to be staying put but in the past couple of months it seems to finally be budging now I have washed that lawyer right out of my hair .Sometimes our body has other plans for us than we have and we have to go with the flow!

Plateau Queen Does Monthly Weigh-In, Gets New Equipment

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

That would be me - Queen of the Plateaus. Yup, that's me. I've put off the weigh-in because, well, this plateau has lasted forever and ever. Amen.

Weigh-in was fine. I get it already; I know how to maintain. Have tried everything to recharge and get going again to lose more. However, I'm fine right now as I've got lots to deal with at the moment. Happy to not be gaining.

Last week, I bought the SP fitness DVD featuring Coach Nicole. Have I used it? NO! Not yet. This week, I bought a new aerobic step to use with The Firm DVD's. Have I used it? NO! Not yet. Okay, I can hear it now. See, that's why I'm not losing. Not working hard enough. (smiling)

Truth is, I've put myself on hardworking weeks of mega-stuff and... no progress. At present, I'm mainly working on maintaining what little sanity I have left, let alone worrying about additional weight loss. No kidding.

All in all. I'll be fine. Wishing everyone a day full of laughs and love.

Sanity is overrated. My policy has always been whatever life throws at me I throw back twice as hard just so I can hear the pleasing splat sound when it smacks it full force !I am going to go hunting for the Spark DVD tomorrow .Sort of like that old camp song "Going on a lion hunt , gonna catch a big one , I put down my trusty rifle, took my boots out of my mouth ....."

Jesse, You really HAVE struggled with stubborn plateaus this year. I sure hope you hang in there and are more stubborn than those plateaus.

Well, I'm pretty much right there with you -- and I know I've put in the work. But I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet. I'm a stubborn person!

And yes, if the worst thing that happens Is I don't gain again, that wouldn't be so bad, either.

Sorry to hear that life is throwing so much at you -- doesn't it know that it's not baseball season yet?

The Last Supper Painting & Portion Control

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Heard an interesting item on the radio today. Some historian has studied paintings throughout the ages of The Last Supper and found that, as they were painted throughout history, the food portions painted on the plates increased over time. Speaks for itself.

Guess we're not the only society and culture with a love of food and eating. (smiling)

Wishing all a great Wednesday.
