Day 2 - There Was No Day 2, Sad but True!

Sunday, January 24, 2010

Thanks to all who sent me messages with kudos and awards for my attempting caffeine detox. I appreciate the support, but have failed. I made it 24 hours and could not stand the beginning of the migraine ordeal. I'll try again at a time when there is less going on.

Ooops, read them out of order.

I can't blame you for not wanting to deal with the migraine issues of detox. You have a lot going on right now. You'll know when the time is good for you to do it. I'm here if you need anything.

I'd say gradual is better, too. I can't give up the coffee myself, though. I'd be a wreck. emoticon

I agree..maybe cutting back slowly would be better to deal with the headaches. I slowly switched to caffine-free sodas over a 2-3 week period and didn't have any problems.

But you will try again, and again until you get your success. How about cutting it back? I've got myself down to one cup of coffee, one tea a day. The rest is decaf. emoticon

You haven't failed you have just suspended the attempt and will come back to succeed another time! I am sure you will do it, other things just conspired to thwart you this time .You know what they say if at first you don't succeed try try again!

How bout instead of all of a sudden NONE go down in intake. You can monitor it. My friend Carol and I found a site maybe this one. that deals with caffiene intake. Just taper off its a very big drug.

Second Time Trying to Caffeine Detox - Day 1

Saturday, January 23, 2010

I did this in October of last year, and lasted three weeks without coffee. Even though I don't drink a lot, I hate the way it makes me feel. For me, detoxing is about eight days of unreal headaches and various body aches. It's like what I see on TV with addicts coming off drugs. Then I feel like a zombie without it and have to learn how to propel on my own steam. Today wasn't bad. My body is still operating from yesterday's voltage.

I am proud of you, always finding ways to make yourself better. I have tried this and succeeded for 10 days then fell off the wagon at Starbucks. Pathetic, I know and I think it is more routine mixed with the habit.

I hope you are doing well. Hang in there!! emoticon

Jesse you arent gonna believe this but I need to know how to detox from caffiene. Chocolate specifically. See a teammate of mine has Fibro and she does this for pain. One square of Dark chocolate 70+ % cacao bean. Well it works for her and when I tried it with Ghiradelli 72% it was fine. It took away spasms. UNFORTUNATELY! I cannot do it for a few reasons. One, I am an epileptic and should not have more than 10mg caffiene a day (comparisson MTN Dew has 55mgs.) A square has about 20mgs. and I was eating 2 at a time sometimes twice a day! I forgot about that when we started this. I had another grand mal seizure today (i think, not really sure, but Ras was freaked. ) So Im getting off "medicinal chocolate" and want to restore my system. ANy suggestions? Hugs Laurie

I admire you for going without, even the little I drink makes me feel sluggish when I go the following day without a cup of tea. Caffeine is so potent! Love to hear how you do, be encouraged, I'm sure your body thanks you later!

362 (approx.) Blogs later - Who Would've Thought I'd Celebrate Spark 1-Year Anniversary?

Friday, January 22, 2010

No wonder I have a tough time lately coming up with blog topics! Aside from missing a few days, I've blogged daily for a year now. Can't believe I've been on Spark for so long and am proud that I stuck with it. Not usually a joiner, even online, at first I really struggled with myself to do it. Sometimes I am my own biggest roadblock. (smiling)

After a long drought period, San Diego has been getting rain, rain, rain and it's so nice to see things turning green again. Lovely. Not to mention much-needed water for us humans.

Wishing all a wonderful day and fun weekend.

When it pours... it really pours!

We've been getting sun today and yesterday. The pineapple express has dumped its showers on the mainland and left us dry on Vancouver island!

Have a great weekend-

    Happy Anniversary!!!

Some day's it hard to come up with things to say that haven't already been said before by someone else.

I think when I write my blogs, a lot of times I am writing to myself and forget other people are reading them. Hopefully we are all helping each other with your reminating thoughts.

So wonderful that you have been on SP for a year. Think of everything you have accomplished, pat yourself on the back, reward yourself with something special. You most certainly deserve it.

Linda

HOW ABOUT A WORKBOOK TO ACCOMPANY THE SPARK BOOK?

Thursday, January 21, 2010

I'd really find that useful, and hope that Chris is considering that possibility.

In 4 days, it'll be my one year sparkaversary. The time has gone by quickly, and I'm thrilled that I've stuck with it.

Have a wonderful day, friends.

When I went through the Beck Diet Solution initially, I used that workbook, and it was so worthwhile. I might run through it again. (I keep saying that though and not doing it!)

That is a cool Idea Jesse, especially for those who will use the book as their main information source, I have a friend without a puter. Gonna give her the book and then study it with her! Remember too this weekend is a SPREAD the SPARK weekend! What a way to celebrate an anni! Hugs Laurie

Do I Need This? No, I put it back.

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

I've started celebrating my birthday. It used to be that I not only celebrated the day, but the week. Then I started celebrating the entire month (February). And now, I start in January. In fact, I guess I celebrate every day in a number of ways.

Today I was in Marshalls (wow, what prices!) and I had a few things in my hand to buy. Did I really need another Sansone DVD when I already have a couple (not to mention oodles that I haven't even tried yet)? NO! I also had a wide pilates band which some of my DVD's use for just a short time. But did I really need it? NO! Finally, I had a kettle ball - oh, how pretty in pink. But would I ever use it? Doubtful.

So, looks like one of the birthday gifts I'll be giving myself is a credit card with no balance due from things that I want, but may not need or use. Hooray, hooray for me.

Have a wonderful day.

  Oh, we are SO ALIKE!

You sound just like me, only I was in Kohls when I had this "ah hah" moment. Last night I just pulled out my Wii Biggest Loser game that I got for xmas. It was just way too easy, and I'm not thrilled with it, but I'm thinking that since it only has me working out every other day I can pick a different workout for my "off" days.

Good luck with getting into what you've already got! *grins* Ever wonder what drives us to be such collectors of stuff like this?

Hey, my birthday's in Feb. too! I actually could use a new Kettle bell . . . pink does sound nice. :)

I am tracking my spending. My aim is to lower it 10% next month.

Good for you! Exercise DVDs really tempt me, but I do use them a lot.

Now that deserves a big hug! It's so cool when one realizes the difference between NEED and WANT. Here's an idea for a win/win situation..how about adding up the prices on the items you WANT and send that amount of money to Haiti or to another charity...maybe one that helps girls & women. This Christmas, instead of giving the same type of $25.00 gifts to my siblings, I gave a goat and 2 chickens to a family thru World Vision. This was given in the names of my sibs. We all felt great about it. :) emoticon
