When You Play, You Pay (Dreading First Weigh-In since Thanksgiving)

Okay, yes, I take complete responsibility for my transgressions. I know the scale will tell a woeful tale on Monday morning weigh-in. After a year of almost perfect program, I slid (since October) in ways that I've surprised myself. Yikes! Seems I have to really take inventory to find out what's really going on with me and why I've lost some of my motivation. Have a good day, friends.

    I decided I'm going to try tracking for the whole day BEFORE I eat anything in the morning. As the day progresses I can eat what I've tracked and NOTHING else. Usually if I can get a few days of in control eating under my belt, I feel so much better and sticking with plan seems easier. Kind of like de-toxing! Also rev up the physical activity a little. Those endorphins you release can be really motivating! I'm rooting for you!

    I think most of us suffer from some lack of motivation at this time of year, but that's still no excuse for any of else! It's a hard nut to crack, but we can do it.

    Sounds like ME. I had pie on thanksgiving, then this week, Chinese food on Monday and Indian curry (fattening) yesterday, friday. AND I ate too many sweet desserts these past couple days. Now I have to really stop this, and figure out why I lost my motivation. I want us both to succeed and stop the self-sabotage.

    sweetie, where is your weight tracker? i thought you had a slide thing like all of us?? It would help us to know when to say "WooHoo! You're doing great!" or "Keep up the good work" or even, "Yeah, ya slipped, but you know how to come back and you will; i have faith in your abilities." Think about that and lets see your results! I have to admit that I am at a point with this forever plateau (that I thought I'd broken, but didn't) where I'm beginning to get discouraged and despondent. I'm really looking forward to this new book as a tool to get me going again.

    I'm with your Jesse That book can't come soon enough. I know what to do, but I can't be on the computer all day looking up stuff. I think that the book will be an additional tool that will be fantastic. Star emoticon In the meantime, keep moving and watching those calories.

  Sit down and run a thought process through your mind,
like calories ingested, daily calorie expenditures, and
the foods you have been eating/or not....

Change up your routine a bit, and then go on with your
life. Take this from someone who deals with depression
and so forth on a daily basis nearly....don't let this
get you down, because it WILL pass...and then you will
move on and get closer to your goal.

You are worth it......

    Why wait for the book when you can watch the "video" ? (aka!!) I understand. but you are right you need to use the tools you have been given here on site. The book wont make it "easier" for you. the information is the same; the format is different cuz its printed and bound not electric. You CAN do this Jesse. Have Faith in yourself. Hugs Laurie

    I am looking forward to the book too. Reading other people's blogs recently got me remotivated. I was going to not track my food until after January 1 and gobble my way through the holidays, but I realized how much better I would feel if I didn't. Someone else wrote that eating right and exercising was the best gift she could give herself. That struck a chord with me and decided to give myself a similar gift.

Found a ton of freebie websites in the latest issue of Woman's World. The ones I will list are those I've already checked out and found some really nice things. No strings or gimmicks. Hard to believe, I know. Hope you find something free that you like.

No More "A Little of This" or a "Little of That"

I'm heading out to get groceries and ruefully acknowledge that after losing 34 lbs. since October 08, I got a bit cocky with myself. I thought I could handle just a little bit of the bad stuff. For example, a sparkfriend helpfully suggested a "little sliver" of pumpkin pie on Thanksgi ving instead of my fantasy of the entire thing. (Last year, my first on a diet, I gave it away!) Well, my idea of a sliver is very different than most people's. And, honestly? I still have a long way to go in figuring out control. I'm an absolute child sometimes. Have a wonderful day, friends.

    I have trigger foods that if I have them in the house I can't just eat one cookie or 1 small sliver of pie or cake I just don't have that kind of control yet and am not certain that I ever will but the one thing I can do is to not buy them or bring them into the house.

    I think if you are an absolute child sometimes, you are lucky. So people are very old, new smile, giggle, or make mistakes, (that they will admit) So now your grown up self takes over. Back to work. Your success is outstanding. There is an article on Sparks about portion control, size of a golf ball, tennis, deck of cards, good visuals. I'm trying to get this down and use it when I have to. We can not live just in a safe secure homes, we need to practice portions. So I just take what I think is right and cut it in half. Couldn't hurt. Hope you find the article emoticon

    I share your pain and problem. Keeping all sweets out of the house is the best way to avoid eating it. Thanksgiving was tough for me.

    It takes time. You have to be patient with yourself. I had 1/12th of a pumpkin pie plus a scoop of apple crisp. And would've been perfectly fine with that since I had a healthy dinner, if I hadn't had the cookie later!

    I find I have the same problem with serving size when it comes to ice cream. My idea of a serving is about a quarter of the container! That and Reese's Peanut butter cups are my real downfalls if I have them in the house.

    If I hadn't finally learned portion control I would still be weighing in at over 300lbs. I am still a long weigh from goal weight. The portion control and learning to say no to certain foods sure has helped.

    Wow we so row the same boat! If I expect to keep from sinking~I just have to avoid getting in it!!!! ha! Keep your chin up the best way to learn is to find out through life experience itself. What you know now, you were wondering about prior to the sliver of pie, ummmm...or the whole pie. Now you will be able to talk other out of that very same thought.

Tis okay....carry on with shopping, and feel light hearted about making healthy choices, as well as possibly preplanning for Christmas and the New Year holidays ahead. :o)

    I shooulda realised and kept my mouth ducttaped! Ah well. You know yourself the best of any of us. Ever since I announced i was giving up sugar, people "very helpfully" said, "Come on, a little won't hurt". And after I woke up from my 3 hour nap,,,,I said, "nope! Gotta eat what YOU CAN to be healthy." ! TRUE STORY.. I'd conveniently forgotten that when I mentioned the "sliver".. Sorry hon. TC HUGS Laurie

    I've been with SP for two years... and although I do not follow the "prescribed" diet, I've found that logging ALL my food is so helpful! And I measure! If I don't, that "serving size" gets bigger and bigger as time goes by!

I'm starting to have a lot of fun with this new ball, which I'm blogging about twice in a row. (smiling) Using it for my desk chair as well. Might have to get another one while it's on sale at Big 5. Picked up my ticket today, and can't believe that I got a floor seat at the show. It was such a terrific deal, I feel it was an early Christmas gift. What fun for this Friday night.
