The More I Exercise, The More Famished I Am

Tuesday, March 03, 2009

I've blogged about this before, and as I step up my activity level, my appetite increases tremendously. Sure, I've been sticking to healthy stuff, but I'm mega-hungry. Guess I'll load up on veggies since they are so low-cal.

jesse, would you mind sharing your food and exercise tracker so i can have a look at it? this feeling famished all the time can't be right. what is your SP calorie range? did you enter the calories you are burning on an weekly average? i'm just wondering what could be wrong ... somehow i feel you might be aiming for too little calories.

Black beans and green beans are my "go to's" when I'm out of calories and I'm still hungry after a tough workout.

I had a problem with being hungry all the time for a while. Especially when I was working. Someone suggested that I add in some protein to my diet. I started eating hard boiled eggs for breakfast and now I am not hungry all the time. Perhaps some protein would help curb your hunger. Also you might, if you are not already, add in a multi-vitamin. That is the other thing I started doing regularly.

Good luck with keeping that hunger at bay.

A bike, a lake, and sunshine

Monday, March 02, 2009

Yesterday I took my bike to the lake and rode around it twice - about 10 miles. The combination of nature, exercise and rays was dynamite and put me on an endorphin high. I can see why people get addicted to their favorite exercise. Wow, if that's the way it'll make me feel, I'll do this as often as possible.

I am glad that you enjoyed your ride!! Yesterday was absolutely beautiful and I am glad you chose to get out there and get active. I love being around nature and soaking it all in while getting some much needed exercise!!!

March 09 Goal - Definitely be Done with this Plateau

Saturday, February 28, 2009

I've discussed this time and again, but have to imbed it in my psyche by repetition. This month-long holding pattern at my 29 lb loss has got to start moving down, down, down again.

i know, plateaus can be totally unnerving. i had two major plateaus, one for about a month after 30 lbs lost, and another one after 48 lbs lost. the weight kept going down v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y, but it felt like a plateau nevertheless. after 2 months i decided to give my body a break and try to maintain over the winter.
but winter is almost over, and i'm going to kick it up a notch next month!
thank you for the goodie, jesse! i love 4-leaved clovers! emoticon

Struggling with the Night Munchies

Friday, February 27, 2009

Okay, I'm doing okay with this, but it's a real struggle. I've tried eating dinner later. Some have advised brushing teeth so you don't want to eat again. I get very hungry at night and have stuck to healthy, light snacks. But I can't sleep when I'm hungry and this has become a persistent challenge. How do others deal with it?

I am an evening muncher too! Lately I've been eating Bran Flakes with frozen blueberries.
I measure out 1 cup of each w/ 1 C of milk. Then if I "think" I'm hungry, I drink water.
The latest I snack is 9 pm..no more after that. Some nights I won't snack, I'll crochet or play piano, that usually keeps my mind off snacking. Then if my body is persistant, I do crunches just to show who's boss! :)

Drinking water helps me and so does chewing gum. If you are hungry (really hungry, not just bored, tired, sad, etc.) then have a small healthy snack with some water. Make sure you are eating enough to fuel your body throughout the day. I try to really "listen" to what my body is telling me and make smart choices from there.

I have found that you can not eat bad things if they are not there. Clean house and get out what you know triggers you. Put fruit in the frig and on the counter. Grab it instead of looking farther in the frig. Allow yourself a piece of fruit and you will not feel like you are cheating.

if you eat a last snack about 2 hours before bed, are you hungry again 2 hours later? i just read this article a few days ago (totally unrelated, it was about insomnia) that had a few ideas for a snack that would keep you full for the night.
you'll have to copy and paste the link, i have no idea why SP doesn't support links on blog comments.

I struggle with that too! Honestly, I just eat when I'm hungry and don't worry about the time ...but only small little things...like you said, healthy snacks! I also eat them s.l.o.w.l.y. so that my stomach can adjust and tell me when it's REALLY full instead of me stuffing myself! I think you are on the right track as long as those little snacks don't take you over your calories!

I also drink water when I'm hungry... it tends to lessen the hunger!!

I have trouble being hungry at night... especially when I'm watching T.V. I have started sticking with eating only jello at night. It seems to work for me. Oh, it's sugar free too!!!

Best of Luck to you!!!
