Nothing Much Going On Besides This Lousy Plateau

Thursday, February 19, 2009

Kinda frustrated, and just keeping one foot in front of the other. Nothing much to say at the moment.

Hey Jesse, don't give up. Take it one day at a time. If you have recorded your progress, go back and remind yourself how far you have come. Double check your measurements...you've lost so much already, now to learn how to use your own food with SP.

I was glad to see your post...I know I will be seeing one of those soon. Chin up! You can make great choices until you start seeing changes reflected that encourage you again.

(Former) Sugar Queen of the Universe, but Now... NO SUGAR CRAVINGS!

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

Prior to beginning this lifestyle change of healthy eating on 10/13/08, it boggles my mind to think of the amount of sugar I ate. By all accounts, I'm amazed that I didn't develop diabetes or that I wasn't twice the size I was when starting a healthier eating regimen. However, from that day onward, I have not had even one sugar craving! It's like a miracle! I attribute this to my body responding immediately to keeping it's insulin level stable through eating right, portion control, combination of healthy food, eating at regular intervals, etc. I don't even miss sugar - this from a former sugar addict. WOW!

Dilemma- The More I Exercise, The Hungrier I Get!

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

So, I've stepped up my daily exercise and now I'm famished. Yes, I will stick to healthy stuff, but wow, am I ever hungry. It's a new dilemma, to move or not to move, that is the question. Or maybe move less. Yikes! Night eating is when the stomach cries for intake.

Eat apple slices with peanut butter. (I eat these sometimes after a lap swimming workout.) Get the tart apples (Macintosh, Granny Smiths) rather than Delicious, which tend to be too sweet and mushy. The apple cures the "I want something crunchy" plea from your stomach; and the peanut butter (especially the thick Laura Scudder's kind) gives your jaws some good exercise, too! I think the sweet/salty combo curbs the "feed me!" craving. Be sure to measure out the peanut butter before you start. Put 2 tablespoons of peanut butter on a plate and spread "lovingly" on to each apple slice.

To move or not to move?? Answer .. move ..
If you are hungry try and stick to healthy snacks
but also remember if you move more you could probably do with eating a bit more!

Hope USA is lovely today .. It is fantastic over here!!

How I Drink More Water w/Sparkpeople

Monday, February 16, 2009

I've made an easy rule for myself...Whenever I sit down to participate in the SP website, I make myself keep drinking water while reading all the great info. That way, it becomes another good habit and helps me drink even more than my regular 8 a day.

Uh Oh! Last Night I dreamt I Wanted Donuts!

Sunday, February 15, 2009

For the first time since I started this healthy eating lifestyle change last October, I dreamt of food. Specifically, donuts. The funny thing is that I haven't had one single sugar craving during this entire time, so where did this donut dream come from? Okay, I'll admit that I've been on a frustrating plateau and that the "why bothers" have begun to creep in. However, I banish those thoughts immediately. In my dream, I was on vacation and I said that I was going to eat donuts, tired of healthy food! As I prepare my healthy breakfast this morning, I smile to realize how far I've come. Why? Because there is not one wisp of desire for donuts in real time.

I think it's amazing that you've made it so far without sugar cravings. At least it was just a dream!
