Call The Midwife

Sunday, March 17, 2013

I don't want all of my blogs about being sick, so here's my second of the day. I discovered this BBC series on Netflix and absolutely loved everything about it - acting, writing, topics, storyline, settings, etc. (and, oh yeah, the music!)

Has anyone else seen and loved it? Will there be a second season?

Season 2 premieres Sunday, March 31 on PBS. This is a nice way to heal you heal. I'm doing a daily 21 day healing mediation with Deepak Chopra and Oprah. It is free and it is helping me.

BACK TO URGENT CARE YESTERDAY

Sunday, March 17, 2013

First of all, I want to thank everyone for all of the responses on my last blog, messages on my page, and goodies. I wish I could respond to each of you, but I just can't right now.

I guess I waited too long to go to the doc. I rarely get sick, and this time when I did, thought I could handle it on my own.

On Friday I got meds, but by the end of Saturday, I got way worse and had to go get stronger stuff. Today I'm taking it easy and telling myself that I really am a lot sicker than I thought I was. Frankly, it hit my lungs pretty hard and since it didn't happen overnight, it's not going to clear overnight.

Those who've recently had pneumonia say that this bug is a particularly strong one and one spark friend's doc told her that the recup time is 6-8 weeks!!!! Yikes! I am not a good patient. I do not stay still very long. But now my body is forcing me to stay still.

Okay, folks, Happy St. Patrick's Day and have a fun day full of laughter.

Oh my. Don't forget to take your supplements too. I hate being sick. I'm afraid to say this out loud, but so far this year no one in my house got that awful two flus that were going around. Rest and listen to that body. If this antibiotic doesn't make you feel better in 24 hours, then call the doctor.

Take care....I'm sending healing thoughts your way. My husband and I both got really sick with a similar thing in January. We sounded like we should have been in a TB ward. I went to the doctor because my asthma was making everything unbearable. One thing that helped in addition to the prescription medicine was taking Mucinex and drinking lots of fluids to help loosen things up in my lungs. I was really sick for about 3 weeks and it took several weeks after that to get my strength back. It's no fun....but it eventually gets better.

Pneumonia

Friday, March 15, 2013

Okay, I thought this was bronchitis and that I could fight it off by myself since I'm usually healthy. WRONG.

Caved in and went to the doc. It's pneumonia. No wonder I'm so worn out trying to fight this.

Now I hope these meds work. Yikes!

Wishing all a fun weekend.

My hubby has been sick mostly since the latter part of January. There were 4 good days in mid February and this round has been over 4 weeks now. They said he didn't have pneumonia, but he sure has had a lot of trouble with his breathing in the evenings. Good luck!

A New Pic - Dedicated to My Dear Cousin

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

It is time for a new pic after 4 years of seeing the happy clown, which was also a recent pic. But, honestly, I thought I'd include my cousin (in black top) who left me recently and I miss her soo very much. (she was very ill with cancer that had spread when this pic was taken at the hotel by the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA)

So, here I am, a smiler in life, but with a very broken heart having lost 12 in 4 years and now my mother ailing badly.

But I always manage to glean the best from each day. It's been a lifelong habit I fostered as a kid.

Wishing all a good day.

I am so sorry about your cousin, GF. I lost my first cousin when I was 38 and she was 40. We were best friends growing up. Like sisters. I still miss her. She was one of a kind. I decorate her grave every year.

Smiling for Heart Health

Wednesday, March 06, 2013

I heard on the news the other day how smiling promotes heart health. Having always been a smiler, I realized that I was doing less during times of recent loss. Joining the facial muscles team here on SP helps remind me to not only smile, but also exercise the 80-plus muscles in the face. I usually do this when using the bathrooom. I call it multi-tasking. (smiling)

Wishing all a good day.
