13 is My Lucky Number

Tuesday, January 08, 2013

So I feel like this year will be a good one. Relative to the past 5, anything will be better! (smiling)

Seriously, I don't have "lucky" numbers, but I DO like Friday the 13th. Feel a good vibe with that number. I believe we make our own luck.

Wishing all a good day.

Go for the gusto in 2013. There are only 2 Friday the 13th in it though so you have to make your own luck for the other 363! emoticon I also believe that what you do sets the scene for "luck" or "fortune" or "success" to visit.

HAS IT REALLY BEEN 4 SPARKING YEARS?

Monday, January 07, 2013

I started this healthy adventure on my own four years ago in October, but found SP by accident in January a few months later.

These four years have been full of major bumps in the road for me, but logging into this site has helped me reinforce better food and exercise choices. And being more healthy has helped me to cope much better with stress.

As for the weight loss, I'm about five lbs away from goal. I feel good. These four years have flown by!

Wishing all a happy day.

Farmaggedon - Documentary

Sunday, January 06, 2013

Last week, a sparkfriend blogged about the documentary "Hungry for Change" which is available on Netflix. I watched that and it was another helpful film (like Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead). I noticed "Farmeggedon" while searching for the other one, and watched it yesterday.
Wow, sometimes I wish I didn't know so much about how the food industry is highjacking our health. If you get a chance, check it out.

Hope 2013 brings wonderful things to all of you. Big hug.

2012 Wrap-Up

Saturday, December 29, 2012

I haven't been blogging much lately. Just nothing to say right now.

Overall, 2012 was, well, 2012. More losses and challenges, but that's just the way life is sometimes.

My 11 lb loss over November and December has been a major victory, although I really didn't do too great during the holidays. Not beastly, but not terrific. Thankfully, I've continued to exercise my butt off. It'll be awhile before the scale makes its appearance again. I think I've beaten sugar and night eating, though. Those are my two victories this year.

Nothing like a trip to the ER to remind myself why I am very dedicated to good health. Yikes! I took my son and spent a half day there on the 26th. Lots of pain. The good news, nothing appeared on CT scan or blood tests. The bad news, something caused it and I'm uneasy about that other shoe dropping again at some point.

It is hard to believe that I've been here on SP for four years since I joined Jan. '09. I am not a joiner and there were several times that I was going to quit. But I didn't, and here I am.

I've "met" a bunch of truly wonderful people here; the kind I wish lived closer and would make great real-life friends. Thank you all for your support.

Will try to get back to blogging regularly. Wishing everyone a healthy, happy, and low-stress 2013. Here's to our continued success on this healthy journey together!

Well, obviously I've been AWOL myself. Mostly due to Simba. He seemed to be getting better only to take a dramatic turn for the worse Friday - of course before a holiday weekend!

I'd like to say here's to a great 2013. I'm trying to believe it but lately it's been hard.

Losing 11 pounds in 2 months and continuing to exercise is great but to me even better is getting rid of the sugar and night eating. Those are diet breakers.

I hope whatever was wrong with you son is a thing of the past.
