Popcorn Butter & Alzheimers

Saturday, August 18, 2012

This week in the news, they reported that lab studies showed that the chemical used in artificial butter flavor on popcorn made the brain cells fold into themselves when ingested. They are linking it to possibly leading to Alzheimers.

Needless to say, the artificial butter is unhealthy anyway, so it's easy to stay away from the stuff. Makes me wonder what else we are eating that is detrimental. Oh, how toxic everything is... chemicals in the air, water, food, emf's from electronics, etc. No wonder so many are dying of cancer.

On a happier note, have a fun weekend, sparkfriends.

I don't know if I buy that study. Lots of people with alzheimers have never touched movie popcorn. You have to wonder what the variables were in the study. I read a study that was supposedly linking eating egg yolks as being as bad as smoking. Of course they did admit they didn't take into account ANY other life factors of the people they were testing. I know plenty of farmers in their 80's going strong who eat eggs-yolks and all-everyday and have most of their lives. What they don't do is sit around like couch potatoes eating stuff out of a prepackaged mix. Hmmm. I don't eat it either anyway but honestly, I think the preservatives added to most foods is what is causing alot of problems. And really, look at the Cantelope deaths over the past few year and then there was spinich born illnesses a while back-chemicals used to kill bugs? Who knows.

I have exotic birds, and a few years ago on a birdboard they talked about the teflon like strip down the bag is toxic. It's really amazing any of us are alive.

Oh dear. Yet another undeniable piece of evidence that 'clean' eating is the only healthy way to go. We can't load our carts with fat free butter and sugar free cookies made with artificial poo and think we are doing ourselves any favors. thanks for sharing!

First Yummy Juice w/New Juicer

Friday, August 17, 2012

Yesterday, my new juicer arrived and I threw in celery, tomatoes, pepper, and carrots. It was really a nice blend. I have a bunch of free books on my Kindle for juices that I'll eventually try.

Wishing all a happy day.

Reverse Psychology for Wgt Loss

Thursday, August 16, 2012

Many of us have had the experience of buying something a size smaller to inspire us along our journey. But the other day, I had the opposite experience that has proved to be a good reminder.

On the store sale rack was a great pair of summer shorts for practically nothing pricewise. Well, the only problem is it's my old size - a size bigger than I wear now. I thought, no problem, I'll just wear it.

Am wearing the pants as I write this, and they are very loose. And a constant reminder that I used to be this size and am soooo thankful I no longer need to buy this size. It's a great reminder of where I've come from and where I'm still heading - down down down.

Wishing all a happy day.

I find that wearing clothes that are too big for me make me feel fat...just like wearing ones that are too small. Either way, I don't feel very good about myself. That's cool how those pants are reminding you of where you came from.

If it works...why not?! I kept a pair of my starting size pants in the closet while I was losing weight last year and would take them out periodically as a reminder and warning.

Let me know all about it. I juice ALL the time and have a Juiceman..but I oftentimes just use my blender because I like having the pulp for the extra fiber. What kind did you order and let me know how you like it.
