In the not-so-distant past, it was common for me to eat a watermelon a day. During several consecutive days. (not bragging, just saying) For those who haven't heard this song (sparkers who've known me for awhile have heard this tune myriad times), during most of my life I was able to eat anything in any quantity with no problem.
Well, some of those habits die hard even though I've come a long way in learning to do portion control. I jokingly say that I am addicted to berries (all types) and watermelon. Not so much this summer because I've seldom found tasty ones in recent years.
But last week, I got one at Trader Joe's and decided that I was going to be moderate. Which, in my life, means that I would only eat half a day instead of the whole thing. I did, no problem. Until I looked up the calories for this breakfast daliance. OH MY - 800 calories!!!!
Good thing I've been exercising my heart out. Yikes! But honestly, this is my only watermelon this summer, so I'm not too concerned. Next time, I am going to do what normal people do and slice it up. (smiling)
