Olympics & Another Concert

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

Some years, I watch Olympics. This year, not a bit interested. One reason could be that I haven't watched TV in about a year and don't even go near the thing. Have no interest in turning it on for any reason. Just doesn't appeal to me.

Yesterday I got tickets to the REO Speedwagon concert that'll be at the end of August. Have seen them before and they put on a dynamite show. Hooray, hooray. Will be looking forward to that.

Weather has been pretty moderate this year, so far. Very happy about that.

Big hugs to all.

C'mon... Where Did July Go?

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

I wind up saying this every month, so it's my own little running joke. But, honestly, I cannot believe how time is flying at lightning speed. July is disappearing faster than ever.

Wishing all a happy day.

The first woman in space, but a collegue where I used to work, she was a shining star in life and will probably be wherever she is now.

I just discovered this walk and researching it further, including a book I just ordered. There are four different paths of varying lengths, and this is something that I'd really enjoy doing. I think I am going to set it as a long-term goal/reward.

It's a walk across northern Spain, and seems so beautiful. Yes, hard work, but so worthwhile. Wonder if anyone here on SP has done it.

Wishing all a happy day.

A friend-of-a-friend has just decided to do this. It sounds like it will be amazing! She did part of it through a school program before, but now is going back to do the whole thing.

Have a great time! :)

I've heard about it but the walk I really want to do one day is to hike the entire Appalachian Trail. If I can just persuade my employer to keep paying me for the 5 or 6 months it would take I'd be all set lol!

It is my long-term goal to walk the Camino. I saw a move about it. It really is many paths and just about any path through Spain toward Santiago. In the Middle Ages people just left their front door and headed toward the goal.

The movie had some cool sights to see along the way. And I like the idea that there are cheap accommodations all along the trail. I have a map of Spain with some of the trails marked on my wall above the microwave as incentive.

Running Shoe Dilemma-CONCLUSION

Friday, July 20, 2012

So, the shoes arrived yesterday. This is the last time I buy through the mail. There is a defect (loop for lace is broken), and they don't fit too great. This place is local (and sells nationally), so I am going there this morning for a refund. Cancelled the order on the second style just in time as it was literally ready to be shipped.

After the refunds are processed I'll go to a specialty store and get fitted. That's the logical answer.

Thanks again to all for your advice.

Also, awoke to the news of the massacre in CO this morning. Very very sad.

I need to try shoes on as well. I've had problems with my feet all my life. I plan to make an appointment at a running store soon to be analyzed. Hoping to get some good shoes that will help me with my plantar fasciitis.

Buying online or mail order is dicey at times... but I have had good luck when purchasing something I am already familiar with. A style that fit my son well was discontinued, thankfully he was able to get extra pairs online before they totally disappeared. Hope your fitting goes well. Let us know how it turns out with your shoes.

The news about the massacre is horrifying.

Glad you will get the right shoes...I know..I'm horrified about the massacre! Our Josh used to go to the midnight showings of movies ALL the time. How sad that we aren't even safe going to see a new movie...I can't imagine WHAT would have possessed this kid to do this...or for that matter any other horrific act such as this conducted by any other kid. This world is so dysfunctional it's just very sad...I don't think all of the violence in the movies and on television is a good thing. Nor are the war games on the computers that kids spend hours and hours sitting just desensitizes our kids in such a negative way. I'm praying for the families...and actually I'm praying for the kid that conducted this horrific act as well...he must have serious issues to be so calloused. emoticon emoticon
