What A Grazer I Am! (Was?)

Now that I am leaving cut veggies in-view all day to snack on, I realize that the very behavior of putting something in my mouth, chewing, swallowing, and then eating more, is such a habit. And how used to it I was, even quite awhile after joining SP. Now when I pop some celery, I know that I'm solving the grazing issue with low calories and no residual damage. I also see that the behavior is diminishing.

Roasted Seaweed

In the spirit of adventure, I bought a tiny snack that I'm going to try this weekend - roasted seaweed. I'm sure it won't become a staple, but I'll check it out.

  I was at an Asian market recently and tried some fried(?) seaweed and it wasn't bad. Way better than I expected it to taste that's for sure lol. Let's us know what you think :)

WTG on trying new things. I had a seaweed salad that I found I loved. I cannot wait to hear your opinion on the roasted seaweed.

    i don't like it plain, but i do like a bit of it torn up into stirfrys & soups & salad kinds of things where it blends into the medley of other food... so i still get the sparktacular nutrition from it but not the heavy flavor or texture...

Yoga's Not for Me

Having heard so many people rave about the benefits of Yoga, I had two DVD's on Netflix that I tried yesterday. For a long time, I've wanted to get into Yoga. (or so I thought)

Had to laugh at myself because I just didn't like it at all - immediately. What was funny is that it was like a piece of clothing that didn't fit. It's just not appealing at all and I didn't even make myself struggle through it. Maybe it's an acquired taste.

    I like hawtha yoga. It is a gentle slower kind.
There are other kinds that are more vigorous.
I'll have to check out what is on Netflix.

    try a yoga class, it's much more fun than a DVD. I wish I did MORE yoga! When I do it consistently, I feel like my posture is better, things don't "crack" and "pop" as much, and I felt much calmer...Good luck!

    I will second or third the commenters that say it is different with a teacher than with a dvd, and I will say that some teachers are better or more in tune with you and vice versa than others. Also there are many different types of yoga, or alternatives that offer some of the same benefits, such as tai chi or pilates.

    I've attempted yoga dvds and haven't found much success. However, I've tried two different yoga studios. One was awesome, every class I tried there was amazing. The other was a yoga class at a gym, and it was not awesome and I didn't enjoy it. I think you should just do what you enjoy!

    I just wanted to leave a little note of encouragement and say this: There are many, many different types of yoga, maybe you just need to try something else? I am a hatha/anusara yoga student and practitioner. I didn't really get it until I took a class. It was easier for me to have a back and forth with someone, instead of trying to look at a DVD and do poses at the same time. Also, if the first yoga you try is Ashtanga or power yoga, it can be discouraging. Of course, you might know all of this already!

BYE BYE TO ANOTHER POUND

Yesterday I sincerely pondered ending this journey. Not giving up on a healthy lifestyle, but just not working at it anymore. It gets so tiresome sometimes. However, this morning's weekly weigh-in showed another pound down. Not much, but enough to answer yesterday's question. Yes, I'll keep working at it. I've broken through my forever plateau, and no matter how slowly this is moving down, I am seeing progress nonetheless.

Anyone Use Acidity Strips?

I been hearing about these strips to measure your body's acidity as it's an important indicator of health status.

If you measure acidic, do you just up your intake of veggies? I'd be interested in hearing from people who've had experience with these.
