Is It November Already? Where did 2011 go?

I'm honestly blown away by how fast this year has evaporated.
Just received my new scooter and going to assemble it this weekend. This is a Razor scooter, built for adults, but just like the kids' model in how you push and ride. Should be fun. Will keep you posted.

  It has been quite a year. In one year I have moved twice, ended an abusive 7 year relationship, bought a house, blew up my favorite car, bought a jeep, saw one of my kids graduate high school, had another enter high school, had another enter middle school, lost almost 30 pound, started a brand new relationship, and am in the process of changing jobs. Lucky for me, I learned that I no longer need pizza to manage my stress. KEEP GOING you can DO IT! We can do anything we want to.

    Didn't know they made an adult version. Have fun and be safe out there! For me, this has been the fastest and healthiest year in a very long time. Lets enjoy each moment and make some lasting memories in the final months! emoticon emoticon

Night Exercise

I've noticed that doing any type of exercise in the evening tends to keep me awake. Guess I should avoid it as much as possible. Wonder if anyone else has that happen to them.

    I noticed that I cannot get to sleep until after 11 pm on the evenings that go to my 7:30 swim class. I am energized and feel good after the class. If I go swim at 6:30 it is not as difficult. Can you shift your exercise to an hour earlier, would that help?

  The only "night" exercise I can do is the treadmill. Video's have to be done as soon as I get home and even then I have a hard time getting to sleep. But if I do a video around 8:00 - I'll be up till 2 or 3. I need to start implementing videos back into the routine, but that may end up being a weekend only thing. Oh well, every little bit helps, right?

    I workout in the evenings around 5-6ish, and I'm usually okay. It's the caffeine that keeps me awake. I can't drink it after 4:00 or I'm up all night.

    I have NO choice but to do it in the evening. But since I already get up early for work I have not had any trouble going to sleep. I think it actually helps me fall asleep. Everyone is different though. I do it around 6:30pm or 7pm.

    Sometimes I exercise in the afternoon but I can't do it too late. for the same reason.

    I'm such a morning person, I know if I schedule exercise for evening it just won't get done.

    Yes, I've noticed the same thing.

I've read a few articles saying you shouldn't exercise 2-3 hours before going to bed. I often will stretch before bed but I won't do cardio.

Toblerone vs. Grapes. Which Won?

So, the other night I dreamt I ate a Toblerone and when I awoke, I was very relieved that it was just a dream.

The idea was based in reality as a friend parked a honkin big Toblerone in my fridge and it's been staring at me (and calling my name) all week as I've opened the door. Should have covered it up.

Last night, I thought, okay. I NEED sugar. I thought about having the Toblerone and going to the store to replace it. But I really didn't want it - just that mental stuff I wrote about in prior blog. Mental cravings. Then a thought hit me - how about grapes? I'd just bought these plump, firm, juicy seedless grapes that day and dug in for a nice treat.

Amazing! I never thought of fruit in that way. To satisfy sugar urges. It worked...grapes won! HOORAY HOORAY for me.

The Scale Saga - THE Weigh-In After 7 Months

Okay, Mondays are my official weigh-in day now and this past one was the first time in about 6 or 7 months. I'd promised myself the number would not throw me off if it wasn't what I wanted.

I have two "good" scales (fairly expensive that should be accurate). One has always weighed me about 3-5 lbs. heavier than the other one. The other scale, as it turns out, needs new batteries and was wonky. So I had to use the bad scale. (Yes, I'm implying that I should be able to subtract 5 lbs. I'll know next Monday when I put new batteries in the other one.)

So, there I was on the scale for the first time in over a half year. One in which I ate through my grief but, fortunately, had increased my exercise level. The number shown is what it is. And I have nothing to compare it to relatively since it's been so long since I've weighed-in.

Unfortunately, that number has been flashing through my brain since Monday as I have to admit I feel lighter than that number. My clothes are starting to get looser. I promised myself that the number wouldn't dominate my psyche so I'd like to stick with that commitment.

Last night, I dreamt I got on the scale and the number was mega-humongous. I resorted to the "why bother" mentality that I wrote about in my last blog and ate a huge Toblerone. Then I awoke and was relieved. Suddenly, Monday's number on the scale looked mighty fine and my streak of no sugar is still intact. HOORAY HOORAY! Another day's victory for me.

    man..ive had dreams of pigging out on junk..more like nightmares!..lol i know the feeling of relief to wake up and find out it was only a dream. congrats on ur streak and keep up the good work! emoticon

    I have just taken my measurements so that I have another way to qualify my progress. And honestly, I'd take feeling better, having more energy and smaller clothes over the number on the scale.

    I always dread getting on the scale, so I don't very often anymore. I just go by how my clothes are fitting because that will tell how I am doing.

  We all constantly remind each other that we are so much more than a number on the scale. And yet, when we see those numbers....

Try not to let it get to you. I know it's hard. My number was a little higher today than I expected, but I'm not letting it dominate my whole day. I don't want you to let it dominate yours either!

Besides, who cares what that number is if we look good???

    Laughing about your dream! It IS just a number. How your clothes fit IS. Much better measure. But I do think keeping track of the numbers can be helpful, too.
