OMG It really does work!

Sunday, June 26, 2011

I've been on this weight lost venture for over 5 years now. I've learned so much about how to eat to lose weight. I've heard it over and over again that you've got change up your workouts every once in a while to break through a plateau. I've done that so many times only to see no results. Of course I know too that it's in the foods. Until recently I decided to do what I've heard. "Increase your calories". You know I've heard it and I was scared to increase my calories because I thought I'll gain weight instead of lose weight. This past week I increased my calories to 1500-2000, maintained my daily workouts and lost weight. Yes, I lost weight. It really does work. I can't wait to see how much more weight I'll lose while eating more food.

Congratulations on your "learning experience." When you have been on a long road for weight loss, it can seem so counter-intuitive to eat more to lose. Several years ago, I was hitting the gym every day and eating low-fat to no-fat (yes, another learning experience) and not losing any weight. I checked in with the nutritionist and she suggested eating a piece of peanut butter toast in the morning. I thought she was cra...er, incompetent. It took me a few days to work up my nerve to eat that silly piece of toast.

It worked like a charm.

It will be exciting to see the progress you make with this new information. Please keep us posted.

I wouldn't have never thought that I would be a runner

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

As I sit here thinking about how much I enjoy running, my mind goes back to less than a year ago when I registered for my first 5K. I was so scared and excited at the same time. I read every post I could about running and preparing for your first 5K. I knew what to eat the night before a race, the morning of a race and, after the race. I read that I'm to take it slow as I start. Don't get too excited and start running full force with the crowd. So I purposely started off with a slow jog. My mind kept telling me, "you can do this", "keep it up", "don't stop", "you'll doing good", "you've done 1 mile", "you've made it to 2 miles", "You've reached the 3 mile mark, and you'll almost finished". I remember so well how tired I was when I finished my first race and I can remember so well how good I felt when I finished. I was on fire. I purposed then to run a race every month. I'm proud to say that even though I didn't run a race every month that I've ran in 3-5ks and 2-10ks in less than a year's time. And have 2 other races scheduled this week. I can truly say tht I am a runner, and I love it.

A Challenge worth working for.

Saturday, March 19, 2011

For the month of April I'm participating in a team challenge to lose weight. Well that's all I needed to get me sparked. I've had this brand new blue pin stripe suit hanging in the closet for over 2 years. When I bought it, it was too small and said to myself then, "I'll get in it". Well it's been over 2 years and I'm still not in them. I've been slacking, but not any longer. I will fit into these pants without shame by time April 2011 is over. I'm so confident that I'm even going to show you just how they look on me now. And the only thing I'll say now is "Watch Me"!! Oh, Oh, I've said it now, so I've really got to do it.

You see what I mean, the lines? Those lines are suppose to go straight down, in a straight line, not curve.

The lines are all lined up and looking good. 9/21/11

    Great Job...well, Looks like you are ready for a 1/2 half marathon. I've done 2 halfs and 2 fulls , its been since 2009,since I last did any running,but I started back running,since I packed on 30 lbs. so I did a 5K on 4/9/11, 34.22
( my shin was bother me,so I had to stop twice),so I actually could of done under 30 minutes. My next is The ' Bay to Breakers" in S.F. my hometown on May 15, its a 12K ( 7.6 miles ) My goal is 1hr. 30 minutes. There is a big hill( Haye Street Hill) ,so that's my only challenge....but, I love a challenge...

I CAN'T STAND THIS!!

Wednesday, February 02, 2011

I just hate that we as women has to go through menapause. I know God has a reason for it, but I just don't understand WHY!. I'm sitting her in 23 degrees weather with sweat running down my back. Turned the heater off and turned the fan on. All I can is Lord Help!

I am sure that God in his infinite wisdom had a reason for women going through menopause, tho I have yet to figure out why. Between peri-menopause and menopause I have over ten years of this. Yes it has gotten better, but those hot flashes are a killer, and no one really understands this unless they have been through it. I promise you this to will pass. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I just had my 49th birthday 2 weeks ago and the sweats have seemed to be getting worst and more frequent. As far as TOM goes, I haven't seen it since September. I'm keeping my fingers crossed because before then I was having it every 3 months. You are doing a wonderful job, lady. You have lost weight and you have done a 10k race. Bravo! Keep up the wonderful progress and say hello to my peeps down there in Memphis, over in Shelby County.

If it makes you feel any better, men have to deal with andropause. We all change as we get older. God bless you as you are dealing with this! Here's a website with a lot of information on how to deal with the symptoms that you're having: http://www.womeninbalance.org/sympt

Oh my heart goes out to you! My peri phase started around 45. I'll be 50 in a few weeks and I'm just about done with it. At least I'm cautiously optimistic. I promise you it gets better but it's icky while going through it. My hot flashes were so bad!

I've been very fortunate so far in my "peri" phase that I've yet to experience hot flashes - however, I want nothing more than to see TOM take a permanent hike - I mean, after all, I am at the age to have that happen......I have younger peers who have completely stopped - so why am I still enduring it?

Go figure the human body, eh? With apologies to the late Gilda Radner, "there's always something"......
