I survived the family get together

Wednesday, December 17, 2014

Glad it's done and I was right to be apprehensive, I dont' have a nice family, and I dont' fit in but I did my duty, first all siblings photo in 35 years and it will be that long again before I appear for one.

I did see a nice Christmas concert....time travel with teens and little kids...very cute. Lovely Christmas dinner with 18 people... way too much sweets as is expected, and they dont' eat the way I do, good it was only a couple days, now I have to see if I can fix this sugar thing myself or if I need medical assistance, dont' like seeing a 16 b.s. pre-breakfast....

No word from H&R, a lot of work for nothing if I dont' get a job with them, won't be too impressed.

I hope you get your blood sugar under control again right away. Do see your Doc for sure. Once you know you are in good hands, the added stress will, hopefully, vanish.
Make that a gift you give to yourself! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Well you got through it and that's good! Sounds like the play was good at least. Take care of yourself
and hopefully your bs will be down soon.

Thank you for encouragement Bear, but you know as well as I do, that this is on me this time. Every other time I have been able to easily get b.s. back where it should be, but NOT this time, I have tried hard, but NOT happening.... and most of this stress isn't going to stop happening any time soon, so next step is for me to see the doc.

just a note on the high BS....

Mine is high right now as well...if you are stressing about anything... in my case moving, your case the family upset, it will have an impact on your blood sugars, as well as the foods wee eating.

christmas is a hard time for many diabetics... different food choices, eating away from home, family stress, the christmas blues, less likely to be able to stick to and follow exercise routines...the list goes on and on.

These are not excuses, but proven facts. Not many diabetics get through the holiday season with perfection in their numbers. It takes really strong control, lots of denial for all the holiday treats away from home, dedication to the point of obsession for the most of us to get through this time of year without even a blip in the blood sugar levels

The course is finished, I wrote the exam today. And she called while I was out to say I had done very well... Yeah..... Glad I didnt' stress out totally over it.

Bro is visiting and I have a big long list for him To Do... and he kept me busy running and holding etc. today, so I didnt' have time to study or practice or stress. Getting lots of little odds and ends done. Everyone should have their own Handyman...

Now life can calm down for a little bit, if I get the job, which I will know on Monday, then things may get crazy again.... in the meantime, a trip to PEI to visit my mother and reading, lots of reading... and probably some hemming my new pants I got last week... never a dull moment...

Catch Up

Sunday, November 16, 2014

No, unfortunately, my b.s. is still not coming in line and it's been 8 days of very healthy lo carb eating... getting quite concerned now. Bean has been educating me that going on insulin is not the be-all and end-all solution and easy way out at all, that there are definitely other concerns to be considered with that too.

Went to the hospital to visit my friend, whose daughter is back there yet again, poor little thing, only been in school 2 days this school year...Good thing she's a smart cookie, but don't know how this will all pan out. She just got off the IV and started back on real food today ....again.... finally....

No snow yet, but Tuesday is predicted to bring us +12 C temps.... that means what in F.... like 60 of something? I like the way this winter is going...

I did get my new winter tires installed, so I am ready for it. But, must go do some homework now.

53 or 54 F. Nice ! Wish I was there with you right now. We have 10 F. Insulin is not the answer and can be very hard to control. If your body is still producing it, you need to help it out but working out harder or longer. The more fat you lose the better it works because it is no longer going straight to fat but being used by your body and then the sugars come down. emoticon Just do not give up !

Hopefully, you'll be able to figure out what's making the blood sugar stay high. It's funny the things that affect it - more that we would think. Hang in there!

So sorry your bs is not coming down. I sure hope you don't have to go on insulin, but if you must, I hope the transition goes smoothly. We're getting snow today about 3 inches so far, that's about all we're supposed to get, but who knows. It's looks so pretty, it's a very gentle, straight down snowfall. emoticon

Are you on the max dose for oral diabetic meds?
and yes if those sugars are not coming down then you need to see the doc about either trying a different oral meds or going on insulin. Sometimes the body just gets too used to the meds and they need to be changed to one it isnt used to . Good luck

Good Lila is back

Thursday, November 13, 2014

As Bear said, when I am good, I am very very good, but when I am bad, I am horrid, and it's been a good 5 days so far... I am watching my b.s. closely and am seeing the scale move, unfortunately I have been off my exercise... Hard to keep it altogether.

I have been eating such good food and enjoying it along with the cooking, which I also enjoy being able to express my creativity that way.

Even read a book, woohoo!!! "The Light Between Oceans" by M.L. Steward if anyone is looking for an amazing heartbreaking book. I cried and cried... But it was awesome.

Hope your day is a gorgeous one, my friend.

Hey, time to get back on a healthy regime.

Sunday, November 09, 2014

Yes, I have walked 3 times this week..... not bad....
I was only up about a pound from all my travels.....not bad
My b.s. was 20.4 the other morning......WHOA!!!!! BADDDDDDDDD!

So I had gotten back on track with lots of walking before I went on "road trip", but still couldn't that b.s. down, so I started a 12 Day Cleanse, (have done it quite a few times before). It really gets me back in control and clears all that ice cream sugar out of my body. And I can cook so easily to fit the guidelines of the program... today, I was already down 5 lbs and my b.s. was down to 12.... on its way, and if this doesnt' work, might seriously be time to tell my doc I need insulin, cuz he's not worried about it. Back to my healthy eating, lots of veggies and soups.... a black bean and beef soup the other day.... an egg drop soup today and hoping to make cabbage roll casseroles tomorrow, cuz the slowcooker roast pork and carrots, potatoes and onions is enough for today.

Big deal about the cleanse is unlimited quantities of the right food, that means giving up dairy and simple carbs except fruit for about 2 weeks... (Reminder to self: how much I like healthy food and how much better I feel when I am in control) And not only that, it is all food I have on hand, so not like it's a crazy diet or anything, and funny thing how I have it all on hand, eh? Even with being late going out the door to church today, I grabbed some rice crackers and a bowl of boiled prunes I had cooked up already and then with the dish of almonds in my car, I was on track, and came home to a nice bowl of oatmeal with flax seeds and brown sugar syrup and soy milk and an apple...

A phrase comes to my mind, with watching you over the last few years .."when she's good, she's real good, but when she's bad, she real bad" I dont know whomever said that but it certainly fits you Blood sugar over 20, you are right, real bad. Glad you have started to rectify that.
Keep it up and power through to decent Blood sugars! emoticon
