Turning 40 - blessed and balanced

So this Friday I turn 40! My goal has been to be fabulous at 40. Well I have made it, differently than I originally had planned but I made it. I had set a goal weight for my bday and as life would have it in the last two weeks I went from being a few pounds away from it to adding an additional five pounds. I would have normally flipped out from the gain but life is short and at almost 40 I realize that life is not a number.
I have a lot to be proud of including my first 5K, my training, my overall phyical health and sanity of course : ) IBalance is key, I am now mature enough to realize that life is about enjoying my family ( yes I ate a hot fudge Sunday with my kids last week), eating at resturants while on vacation and not stressing about every calorie.
I am balanced enough to know that once I get my diet back on track and up my exercise, the pounds will gothey arenot here to stay, its temporary.
So here is to 40! Blessed and balanced!

    Enjoy 40. I did that birthday last year. This year I've decided to do 39 again, better than ever before! It looks like you are aging in reverse, too. Congratulations on all that you have achieved.

Night Eating - YIKES

So trying to go stop eating early backgired. I got up in the early hours to get something to eat because my stomach was growling. I ate some cantaloupe and thought I was safe but then went back and ate chips! Yikes! Yeah I need to come up with a plan.
I am taking a break from my workout today because my hamstrings hurt so bad yesterday. I don't wan to risk getting an injury so I will just take a lot of extra steps today and try to get 10.000 in without formal exercise.
I am thinking about signing up for another 5k. Its in just a couple of weeks and I am still thinking about it. I wil let you all know. I just want to know if I can improve my time from the last ace butr I know with travel that I won't be able to train the way I probably want to.
Well here is my eating form yesterday -
brackfast - cantaloup. 1/2 cup of brown rice and two pieces of turkey link sausage
Snack = cup of fresh fruit, chex mix
Lunch - Mcdonalds Southwest salad with no dressing
Snack - Dark chocolate candy bar
Dinner - baked chicken, brown rice, carrots, mixed veggies
Snack - cantaloupe and chips at 1am

Well I would like to plan my food out for today to see if that helps. I am a little concerned about spening a week on vacation with no refrigerator, be gluten free and sane. Prayer changes things : )

80/20 rule

So I am getting back into the groove of summer. I went back to my Bootcamp class today that I am able to participate in the summer. It was great but oh how I hurt. Tomorrow I will try to implement some running and commit to Bootcamp three times a week and running two to three( I have to see how my legs hold up - hahhahaha_
Right now I am going through a strange season with my weight and body. I can wear a size 8 in shorts and some pants but then today I pulled out my 12s from last summer just to be sure that they are too big and they FIT! YIKES!!! What I have found with my brief time with running is that my thighs get bigger so therefore my legs fit well in my 12's.
I still believe in the 80/20 rule of weight loss that being 80% diet and 20% exercise, at least for me. So I will continue to put my food diary on my blog. I am going to have to check my calorie range. I must be eating more than I think and probably not enough protein. My next goal will be to stop eating after 9pm. Sounds easy right? Thats probably the only part of my day where I get to sit for a minute : )
I am meeting more and more gluten free sparkers that are helping me along the way.
So here is my food for today - until next time - remember to BE a blessing!

Breakfast - cantaloupe, cottage cheese, few blue berries, one turkey link sausage
Snack - watermelon, grapes, chex mix
Lunch - black bean burger with mustard, plain chips
Snack - mango ( yes the whole thing - hahahha
Dinner - baked chicken thigh, green beans, greens, sweet potato fries
Late snack - chips, 4 dark chocolate kisses

Oh how I have to get off of these chips!! hahaha I have been focusing on eating at least 5 fruits and veggies like I used to. I am getting there.
Water?? Yeah I only had 24 documented ounces - I will do better tomorrow. I just get soooo tired of going to the bathroom. I go almost three times an hour at night on the days that I drink at least 64 ounces. The fact that its always at night bugs me because it effects my sleep.

Friday I ran my first 5 k! I am soooo proud of myself. It was not an ideal situation with it being 90 degrees with high humidity but hey it did not rain : ) The heat took my breath away, I had no idea how much harder the run would be in the eveing with the heat. I ran the first 1.5 and then walked for a minute or two then I pressed on to the finish line. It was a great feeling.

    I am soooooooooooooo very proud of you...what an accomplishment???!!! I will be jogging my first 5K November 1st...lookin' forward to it...the AZ heat is still warm at night...but of course with less humidity...low 20s...even in the teens. Again, congrats...you look so happy and you should be!

Thankful Thursday - g free :)

Today was another busy one but I won't complain because I made it. Tomorrow I am supposed to run my first 5k race. The forcast is calling for 90 degrees, high humidity and thunderstorms -what is that all about? On top of that the race is in the evening and I won't know until the time of the race if I am to run in the rain or not at all. Hmmmmm I will trust God to work this out : )

Todays eating -
Breakfast - chex cereal
lunch - bowl of spinach, half a grapefruit
Snack - fruit salad, chex cereal
Dinner -Talipa grilled, spinach, brown rice and gf baked beans
Dessert - rode bikes to Friendly's and had scoop of butter pecan with chocolate ( yes bad but good : )

Ok so I must make an effort to get back to eating 5 fruits and veggies a day. At one point I was up to eight a day. Instead of focusing on what I can and can't eat I need to be wise and create a menu before my day begins otherwise I am going back to bad habits. I also want to start loggging my water intake, accountability is just something I have to have in order to get it together.
