Food Steamer!

Just checking in, a few days ago, my husband brought a Wolfgang Puck food steamer. I absolutely love it! I started with just steaming veggie. It made perfect broccoli, green beans, and other veggies. Just like the ones you get when eating in a restaurant. Today, I steamed cod fish with onions and green beans for lunch, delicious! I'm headed out to buy more veggies and root veggies to steam. I think this might be what gets me pass my plateau. I will check in again in about a week. I'm so excited!

    emoticon I have a little portable metal steamer that you put in a pan of boiling water that I bought from The Pampered Chef and I love it! I will look up the steamer you mentioned. It really helps prepare food without a lot of hassle, and is also healthy.

Update on Vegan challenge!

Well, it's been over 2 months now and I am eating mainly vegetarian dishes. Vegan is a little to strict for me, so my daughter and I decided to go Vegetarian.

One thing I recently noticed is my blood pressure has really dropped. In the past it was around 130/72. The last few readings have been 116/64. I'm not sure if it mostly based on eating vegetarian or if it has anything to do with me working out twice a day a few times a week. I starting using Billy Blanks, Jr. dance videos on the days I can't make it to the gym. I put in the dance video in the morning, early around 5:30am, workout for at least 30 -40 minutes before getting ready for work. In the evening, I do the same, but I dance for at least 60 minutes. I love dancing, it makes me feel Good! In any event, I am glad to see my blood pressure come down. I'm sure the vegetarian eating has something to do with it. I still eat fish and egg whites and a little cheese every now and than.

Regarding my weight, I have lost 7 pounds; but, I expected more of a weight loss. Have I gained muscle? Perhaps, however, I will keep pushing, I'm sure those last 20 pounds will eventually come off.

    It will, it will! I'm glad to see you've found the middle ground you need to move forward with your meal plan. The shift from meat as the main attraction on your plate to more veggies isn't as drastic as one may think. With exercise, the vegetarian meal plan does have a great impact on blood pressure, so keep up the good work! emoticon

Kale Salad- Who knew it was so good!

I brought some kale salad from Whole Foods the other day. Along with a small amount of Detox Salad (mainly broccoli, carrots and raisins) and cabbage salad. Well, all the salads were very tasty and light. No heavy salad dressings, just lime juice or lemon juice added. The Kale salad really surprised me, I had never eaten Kale and wasn't sure if I would like the taste. To my surprise, it was good! All the salads were pre-made on the cold food bar at Whole Foods. I plan to add Kale salad to my regular eating regime.

    ... don't you just love WF's... Did you get the kale salad with the avocado? I tried that one last week and loved it! I bought some fresh kale and also some greens with a mixture of kale, baby beet greens and spinach. This is a super veggie!!

PS:... I just bought a cabbage slaw Saturday... it has sesame seed oil, slithered almonds, green onions and some other things, but it is great, eating some today for lunch! I will be making salads at home because they are expensive, but it's a good way to experiment with new veggie combinations that I never thought of. WF's and Trader Joe's are my 2 favorite go to stores!... I just don't have enough money to buy "everything" that I want! emoticon

    I use kale in everything, in my omelets, in my soups, in my salads, and wherever I can add it, because it is one of the best green leafy veggies you can eat :)
