Holy too much work, Batman!

Friday, March 05, 2010

The last 3 weeks of work have been BRUTAL! I have been out on the road traveling for virtually the whole time and talk about becoming inconsistent! I was on the East coast for each trip so waking up early to work out wasn't in the cards since I was already getting up at 4:00am my time to just get to the training sites on time. After a 12 hour day of training and walking the floor to help students, the last thing I wanted to do was hit the gym. I did go a few times but not as much as I should have. In my quest to run a 5K I did re-run week 3 and surprisingly it wasn't all that hard! I have decided that since week 4 has been a huge stumbling block for me I am going to run what I am naming week 3.5! I am going to run the normal 3 and 5 minute times, but have longer recovery time. So instead of 1.5 minutes and 3 minutes of recovery I am going to bump it up to 3 and 5 minutes so that when I run the real week 4 with the shorter recovery times it won't be so hard. It seems like a good plan, and a way to move forward while I defeat my week 4 problem!

Why does work stress make me so lazy?

Monday, February 22, 2010

Work has been HECTIC lately! I have 5 projects going on at once and am short on resources. I am working on 2 internal training classes, 2 external classes and prepping for a dry run/ pilot with a prospective customer! I have to travel tomorrow to Thursday night and again next week which always throws off everything! At least getting out of the office and actually training a class gets me out of all the meetings!!! Traveling changes everything, and I mean everything; from working out, to when and what I can eat, to drinking water (can't take as many bathroom breaks when I'm training a customer!). Ugh, this love hate relationship with the road is tough!

Tonight I am going to try to jog again. I have only successfully beaten C25K week 4 once in 3 weeks of trying. I went and got a massage on Friday night to hopefully loosen up some muscles and make the jog a little less crampy. I talked to the massage therapist about why my calves could be cramping and she showed me a few stretches to try. We will see. My only issue with the jog tonight is I feel so tiered mentally and physically from all the different projects at work pulling on me I would rather just go home and do some laundry and get packed for my trip. If I take anymore time "off" from the C25K, I am afraid I will have to start over! Like I have said beforem this weight isn't going to lose itself, so the gym is going to happen!

Once I leave the job, I'm so motivated as it's my time to do whatever I want until the next day! Exercise is a stress management process for me! Try it with this thought in mind and not as making you tired. emoticon

The joys of a sore mouth

Monday, February 15, 2010

Friday was the big day. I went and had my evil wisdom teeth pulled out by my dentist. It was possibly the single worst experience of my life to date. I didn't get nitrous, I didn't get pain killers for after the fact, nothing! My dentist kept telling me I was tough, but I will not be going back to him after that Warning!!! If you are not a fan of dentistry, don't read the next line!!! The dentist was virtually holding me down while I yelled and he pulled out my teeth with what looked like plyers!!! Ugh, but it's over and I never have to worry about my top wisdom teeth ever coming back. I have been sticking to light soft food and lots of water so good news from this on the diet front! :)

I am going to re-do week 4 of the C25K this week. I only successfully made it through the run once last week so I can't keep going until I can consistently make it. Third time's a charm, right? I was in the office this morning at 6:30am, so I hope I can get a work out in and be home by 4:30pm and get some much needed rest. I decided to go in since I'd been up since 3am with nightmares. I couldn't get back to sleep. Hopefully sleep will be much better tonight! I need it to function and think straight.

i hope you feel better soon!

getting wisdom teeth out isn't a piece of cake especially if you wait too long to get them out. i tell my patients to get them out ASAP. if they are on the x-rays you can get them out. i got all 4 out when i was 15 and was perfectly fine after a few days.

also going to an oral surgeon, not a general dentist for the procedure helps. and getting put out helps too :)

OMG! That is horrible. I would never go back to that dentist either! He should have given you something for the pain after the numbness wore off.

Then he held you down....thats when I would have been like...Dude! Get off!

Im sorry you had this terrible dentist visit.

Oh I know the pain of dentist visits! I was hurt by a dentist as a child and now I must be sedated and lied to about the visits or I dont go! I just recently had my top wisdom pulled and it was the greatest dental visit I ever had. I had the gas during the visit (plus the sedative from my reg dr) and no pain killers were needed in the days to follow. Matter in fact the day after I had them done was Christmas eve and I was able to eat ham and reg food. If you can find one in your area, look for a denistry with TLC. they are wonderful and compassionate. At least the one I go to is. They know Im a spaze and work with me. My dentist does get tough (he says my yelling scares the kids....lol) but never crosses the line to making you feel utterly uncomfortable or held down. I didnt feel any pain, just felt/heard the grinding of the teeth coming out, but no pain. I just yell out of being scared.
Hope you heal quickly and remember no smoking or straws, it will lead to major pain!

After 3 failed attempts at C25k Week 4 Day 1..... I DID IT!!!

I was having some issues with my legs cramping up as I was trying to get through my first 5 minute jog of the series, but last night, I pushed through and did it! I felt so accomplished that after so many failed attempts, I could get through it. I want to thank all of the wonderful sparkpeople on the "Fat Runners Club" board for their help. I asked if anyone could help me through this and was directed to a SP FAQ under fitness and followed what the article told me. It worked! Thanks again for ALL of your support, I couldn't do it (jog, lose weight, keep my sanity) without each and every one of you!

If I don't have my wisdom teeth, can I still be wise?

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

I know it's only Wednesday but on Friday morning I am getting my top 2 wisdom teeth pulled. I have never had a tooth pulled so I am a little bit freaked out. It doesn't help that I am frightened by my dentist!!! When I went in for my cleaning he lost control of a tool and punctured my lip, what have I gotten myself into!?!?

So how does this all go down? Will I get any sort of sedative before the procedure? I remember when my husband had his taken out, he could only eat vanilla ice cream but he had full blown oral surgery, mine isn't that in depth. I am hoping to get some protein powder to have a few shakes if I can't eat. This is no time for me to throw in the towel and only eat junk.

I am going to try again to actually complete week 4 day 1 on the C25K program. On Monday I had such bad leg cramping I couldn't point or flex my foot about half way through the 1st 5 minute jog. I tried to walk it off but it felt like a massive charlie horse in my right leg and couldn't continue on. I get those alot, too bad I can't get muscle replacements! :) Just teasing! I am sure I will have more to report tomorrow, so until then, TTFN - Ta Ta For Now!

You will do just fine. Sad to say it but I have had all my teeth pulled and gotten dentures. I come from a family of bad teeth. Its not that we dont brush our teeth. When I was a baby and my front teeth started comeing in they were breaking off. I had to have my four front teeth surgicaly removed before they came in all the way.
After years and years of getting TONS of work done just to keep them from hurting, I have finally decided to just pull them all out and never deal with it again. I am only 30.

So....they should give you a local numbing shot and maybe some gas to help you relax some. Depends on the dentist. I did all my teeth without gas, just a local but they did give me a prescription for pain meds. They should do that for you as well.

Good luck and remember...when its over you will feel so much better.
