April Accomplishments:
1. Nutrition - I ate well at least 90% of the time, so I'd give me an A. I was concerned that my running might be causing a weight gain (increased blood supply, stronger bones or tendons or cartilage) because I gained at two Weight Watcher weigh ins this month, but today I was back down - 124.2 here at home; 125.4 at WW -- right where I want to be. I could do better tracking, but not a bad job. I tend to eat just over my calorie range and exercise more than I committed to do and it balances out.
2. Cardio - 27 days I did cardio exercise and burned more than 2000 calories each week. I set a personal distance record (7.5 miles), a time record (29:25 for treadmill 5K), and did a good variety of activities (walking, running, Zumba, biking, swimming). Although I did not run a competitive race in April, I signed up for five 5Ks - one in May, two in June, one in July and one in August. A
3. Strength Training - completed 9 strength training sessions this month, including 8 at the gym and one here at home. B+
I stayed involved on SparkPeople and got lots of good support from my SparkFriends. Thanks. Hope I gave some support, too. I did very good on water and attitude and pretty good on sleep. Overall, an excellent month!

I knew Natalie had really enjoyed not only decorating Easter eggs and finding them, but also eating them when she asked, "May I have a hard boiled egg for dessert, Old Mom?"

Today I ran 6.8 miles and went a total of 7.5 miles on the treadmill. By starting out really slow I was comfortable my whole run. When I finished, I thought I could have kept on for a long time. I went pretty slow because my emphasis today was on achieving my longest run to date. My aim is to increase by no more than 10% per week because that is what I've read is recommended to decrease risk of injury. It took me 90 minutes to make the 7.5 miles, which I calculate as 5 miles per hour average. Sometimes I walked at 2.5mph and a couple times I just felt like running a 7mph interval for two minutes.
I am registered to run five 5Ks in the next four months. I'd like to find a 10K to run in the fall when the weather is likely to be good. Wonder if I'll ever feel like tackling a half marathon, a little over 13 miles? Maybe.

Here's our first picture of Kahlua, taken by my daughter. I think she used a camera phone! (Some of you saw this picture already, because I put it in my gallery yesterday.)
Kahlua -- or more formally, Madame Kahlua -- is walking better and better on the leash. Yesterday I bought her a second Easy Walk harness, since she chewed her first one. This morning's walk I had to urge her on and away from smells a couple times. The only time she really tugged was when a black cat crossed the road and sat under a tree looking at her.
The dog gets extra brownie points because I walk her on a short leash, try to get her to heel and walk nicely on my left side. My hubby, on the other hand, just wants to wear her out and walks her on a long leash, permitting her to explore more. Inconsistency is the bane of parenting children or training dogs, but I think she's learning two different styles just fine.
We left Kahlua in the back fenced yard with back porch access through doggie door for nearly 4 hours last eve while we went to the Trans Siberian Orchestra concert, a blend of classical music, rock, and dramatic lights/ lazers/ fire/ videos with singing and acting. It was the first time we'd left her alone since we adopted her 2 weeks ago. She did fine and was glad to see us return. As an aside, I enjoyed the concert, but it was long and sitting for 2 and half hours just doesn't appeal to me as much as it used to.
