Grandmas lose weight as they have to do all the work preparing and carrying out Christmas! Excellent work Marsha! Great way to go into the New Year!

    Way to Go! emoticon

I talked to my forever thin niece (who is also near my age) and she said the same . . . after eating all kinds of Christmas fare and she lost a half pound! Grrrrrr! emoticon

ON THE OTHER HAND . . . last Saturday I gave myself permission to bake and eat a 'few' cookies, then over the course of the past week I added a few cups of sangria, a little bit of dressing, a piece of banana bread, candy, more cookies, ham, more sangria, more banana bread, more candy, more cookies, more ham with rolls . . . and today, I am TEN pounds UP! Oh, My, My, My!!!!! (Surely, some of it is water . . .) -- ONE WEEK!

Today (and yesterday and the day before) I am feeling weighed down, sluggish and a mess! BUT, the good news is I am back on track! The trigger food is gone! And I'm back to good and healthy eating!

My lesson of the year: NEVER give a food addict a week off.
(. . . . a meal now and then, but not a week.)

Congrats on being strong and in control! emoticon

Celebrate! Enjoy the moments!! Enjoy the moments of peace and the moments of family chaos!!!

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

It is a joyous holiday! Our kid and grandkids will be back in a couple hours and we will celebrate some more.

(Today they are eating their big meal at the MIL/other grandmother's house. We had Christmas dinner here last eve. Today I'll serve mostly leftovers. Niece and nephew enjoyed enough they are coming back for leftovers today, too!)

So, I'm celebrating the holiday -- and I recognize I did good yesterday -- good BIG cooking and moderate eating. And I tried to send all the temptations home with guests, but didn't succeed totally. But I'm not too scared of the leftovers. I'm motivated. I'll do okay. Getting more confident. Love it!!

So glad you did well too. I passed on all the fat, sugar stuff. I will continue to not let the leftovers get me either.
Here's to you and I for being strong.

We got this.
Happy New Year Marsha!

You did better than I did. I succumbed to the call of a rich potato dish and the dessert table last night. It was an enjoyable excess, but today will be better on the calories in vs. out.

It's funny that the moments of family chaos at Christmas become beloved family stories years later. Enjoy the family time however it comes.

Don't forget to send cookies, pie, stuffing, ham, candied yams, deviled eggs, etc., home with guests. They will love it and you will have fewer temptations!!

That is usually the plan for us here, but we are keeping our fingers crossed that our guests will even be able to make it in on Sunday with another dumping of snow and wind coming tonight.

I'm still thinking about the BLTs! I made Pizzelle cookies today, and after tasting a few shards that broke off , I tossed all the rest because of that post. Thank you!

My extended family meets at my sister's home for Christmas Eve, so I won't be finding too much dangerous stuff in the fridge or cookie jar.

Merry Christmas!

A serving of cookies is not a dozen, regardless of what you learned as a child. And cookie dough counts, too. And broken ones.
