Running
------------
Yesterday I ran at the resort. Both treadmills were busy, so I ran two miles outside with my Garmin first. Around 7:15 it was starting to get hot and a TM was available, so I did 5.5 more in the A/C. My HM training is on schedule! This next Saturday is group speed work -- half mile repeats. Following Saturday is 9 mile group run. In between I'll get 2 other runs per week for 45 minutes each. My next HM is Nov. 9th.

Home
--------
Got home around 3pm yesterday. Dog was happy to see us and neighbor kids happy to get paid for caring for her. They fed and walked her for the full week, although Dear Daughter stopped by to supervise for the first 4 days. Fish all survived and the two smallest ones had grown and developed more color.

It was great to come home to beds made, floor mopped, counters clean, etc. Also, while we were gone I had DD go through and take care of boxes and boxes we've been keeping for her since she went to college in 1999. I now have more room for our stuff so that makes organizing easier!! Still have a lot of kids' toys, but we still need them.

Now it is time to get back to Flylady and continuing to improve this house. Also, need new carpet and living room furniture. Soon.

Eating
---------
Not that I quit Sparkin' on vacation, but it is time to recommit to the healthiest lifestyle I can achieve. Definitely haven't done as well eating as I have running, but it is not terrible. SparkFriends may be tired of reading about me and my middle 3 (weight in the 130's) blues and my middle 2 successes. Well, it's middle 3 today, up 2 pounds from when I left for vacation. (Thank heavens that middle 4 that shocked me at the science museum was just wonky. I kind of knew it anyway, since it showed Gwen as 44 pounds when she's more like 32 and it weighed both girls at 66 pounds when they are closer to 86. The point of the display was to show how people weigh differently on different planets -- not an accurate weight.) I will have a middle two within one week I predict, but if not, I'll keep working on it until I do. May not make it to 126, but definitely will get to 129.

You did very well sticking to your goals on vacation and that is just awesome you only gained 2 lbsl I echo everyone else it won't take you long to get rid of them!! Its been wonderful to watch your transformation in all ways. Taking pride in an organized, clean house is awesome! You are so careful and diligent with your weight maintenance/fitness that it will only be a matter of time before this spills over to other areas...
Keep up the great work!!

Glad you are on target for the 1/2

I would not worry too much on the minor wieght difference.

When on vaca - you eat out much more and let's face it - although yummy - restaurants use far more salt - butter etc.. then you would ever use at home.

Just getting back to YOUR normal routine will take care of it!

Glad you had a great time. and the pets did well!

Traveling is hard to maintain weight, even if you do eat well. You can get caught without hydration, and if you eat out most meals, you'll still end up with more sodium than you would at home, even if you do eat right. You'll find your two again! Great job getting your runs in, sounds like you had fun!

More Resort Vacation with Grandkids

Thursday, August 15, 2013

Yesterday we spent the day at the Orlando Science Museum. The Clifford the Big Red Dog exhibit was a hit, as was the Dino Diggs, and Dr. Seuss's story of the planets projected in 360 degrees on a 6' ball from the ceiling. Probably the favorite thing of our 2 grandkids was the water play. They could build dams, create whirlpools, and float boats on a pile of rocks waterfall and on a table. I did take some pictures, but haven't downloaded them yet. We went swimming after supper and went to bed late, but the girls were up early anyway.

We went swimming again first thing this morning and then it was 17 holes of miniature golf here at the resort. We played the first 8 holes twice and then finished on hole 9 that keeps your ball. Natalie got the only hole in one!! I had the camera with me, but forgot to take pictures. Oh, well.

I got on a scale yesterday that scared me, but hubby said he weighed 10 pounds heavy on it. Guess I'll just have to get home to see how bad it is. Am trying to be sensible, but for some reason my head isn't quite in the right place for proper maintenance restraint. Hoping it's not as bad as I fear. Whatever, I'm not giving up and I know I will succeed, even withoccasional slips. Having kept off 80 pounds for over 4 years now, some think it should come easy to me now. It doesn't. It's hard, but it is do-able, and it is worth it!

My daughter and son-in-law will be here in just a couple hours and be with us through Sunday. We've never taken a vacation an hour from home before, but it really has worked out well for people coming back and forth. The tooth fairy will come tonight. There is a second loose tooth and it may be 2 for 1 if we don't hurry!! We'll be going to Universal Studios theme park tomorrow for sure and maybe Saturday, too, depending. Natalie starts first grade on Monday. Summer is going fast! Come to think of it, time is going fast and they are just growing so fast. What a blessing that we get to enjoy so many of their days!!

Exciting Vaca!!

Monday, August 12, 2013

Having a great time! Wish you and all my SparkFriends were here!!

Here's some pictures at the pool yesterday:

Here's the most exciting thing that's happened so far:

Natalie lost her first tooth! We're going to wait until mommy comes on Thursday night to put it under the pillow for the Tooth Fairy.

I got up and got my training run this morning. I expected to use the treadmill at the Fitness Center, but there was only one working and it was in use. So I ran around the complex, which probably I ended up enjoying more anyway. I had my Garmin, so I knew my pace and distance. It wasn't one of my speedier training runs; perhaps I was worn out from the pool and activities with kids last eve. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my run and am glad I got it done!!

We have a full kitchen and went to grocery store today, so there's no reason for me not to eat well. Having fun and living active. What could be better??

Running Happy!

Saturday, August 10, 2013

Enjoyed our 6 mile sunrise run this morning. There were 6 women -- I was the oldest -- and our male leader in our pace group. We made it in just about 65 minutes or about 11 and a half minutes per mile. We used 3 minute walk/1 minute run intervals; it was a little cooler than most of our recent runs so we upped it from the 2:30 run intervals we had been using. The pace was comfortable for me most of the way. Again, I found myself at the front of the pack on the downhill and flat areas, but falling back on the inclines. I took about an extra 30 seconds of walk one time on a hill -- right before our potty break -- and I saw how easy it would be for the pack to go on without me. That motivated me to keep up.

We joined with several other pace groups to total about 50 of us runners drinking coffee (and water) outside at Starbucks. Most of those training for full marathons had not returned by the time I left, but I got to see all the other half marathoners. It's just a great group of people!

Next week I'll be out of town at the resort during the group run, so I hope to run the scheduled 7.5 miles on my own. The following week I'll be doing Galloway speed training for the first time. I know it involves 800 meter or half mile repeats on a high school track. Last year I did the half marathon "to finish" training program, so there was no speed training involved. This year I'm doing a half marathon time improvement program, so there is. Hope to benefit from it.

Some people have just joined us in the last couple weeks to train for the first Lakeland half marathon on November 9th. I'm signed up for that one. Not sure I can PR (personal record) as it is quite a hilly and scenic run between lakes, but maybe. I'm still torn as to whether to run the St Pete Women's half on Nov 24th, just 15 days later. I would love to run it again, and see ONEKIDSMOM (whether we run together or not -- she's running with a relative probably faster than I run), but hubby is talking about going out of town. We'll see. I am committed to do the Disney Princess Half Marathon on February 23, 2014, just for fun. I've heard it is too crowded to run fast, but again, we'll see. Then it will be time for me to train for faster 5Ks. If I'm injury-free and feeling fast, I might just qualify for the national Senior Games. I'm looking forward to all of it.

You know, I only started running as a way to maintain my 80 pound weight loss and increase my fitness, but I have come to enjoy it immensely!!

You are my hero! I'm trying to get into running but can't seem to get the consistency needed. We are in Colorado now, mostly for the hiking, but we did do Week 4 of the 5K 101 podcast last week. But I think the roads in this new state park are too inclined to run up them comfortably (at 9,000 feet elevation, no less). So the running will probably take a back seat until we get home.

You have some great goals ahead!! The Disney run sounds amazing!!

The speedwork will definitely help up your stamina and strength to manage those hills. After a tough half involving hills, 15 days until the next one seems rather close, its a case of listening to your body, but unfortunately you usually have to sign up in advance if you want to get in. Would be really nice for you to see ONEKIDSMOM again though.
