Yesterday I ran the trail near my house. After a good warm up, I ran fairly hard. I made one mile in 8 minutes and 50 seconds, the fastest I've ever recorded. I realized when I turned around something I hadn't realized when I was running. There was quite a wind. I read that gusts went up to 30mph yesterday. So that time was probaably a bit (or more) wind-assisted. After that I ran-walk-ran several miles very easily. Think I'm ready for my 5Ks on Saturday!!
Today I did half hour on the stationary bike with Aquagirl at the Y and then I did a half hour on the elliptical. Feeling good!
In case you didn't see it in my status, this morning I weighed 126.2, the least I've weighed in well over a year and just .2 from my happy weight. I've pre-planned my food for today, including going out to dinner with my local SparkTeam this eve. I'm committed to sticking to my food plan. I've pared down my morning and afternoon snacks in order to allow for my 780 calorie supper - six ounce sirloin (that's a treat because I only eat steak a couple times a year), plain sweet potato, and vegetable blend. I know that even when I follow it, I could be up 2 pounds tomorrow. Won't derail me. I'm going to have great races on Saturday and get to my happy weight next week or the week after. Just one more week until I celebrate 4 full years at a healthy BMI!!

I was excited to see a .8 drop on the scale this morning, taking me to 126.4, just .4 over my HAPPY weight -- also known as my target weight, goal weight, central weight, etc. It's been over a year since I've been at this weight:
The one thing I did differently is to pre-plan my meals and stick to the plan. I eat pretty well on the fly, but pre-planning helps me do even better. I plan to keep planning!!
Several times I've gotten close to my happy weight only to blow it. Well, not this time. I'm keeping my eye on the prize and redoubling my good efforts. Oh, don't think I'm starving; no way! I'm eating1510-1860 calories per day. That is what I get when I burn at least 2200 exercise calories per week and have my nutrition tracker set to lose 6 pounds in a year. It works! For years I tried to lose weight at 800 or 1000 calories daily. In the long run, that does not work for me. I proved it over and over.
Yesterday, as promised, thanks to MIRAGE727, I chose over 35 pieces of clothing that are too big and set them aside. I'm going to ask a few friends and family if they are interested before I donate them to the thrift shop that supports the wonderful literacy and basic needs nonprofit I retired from. I posted the opportunity for my local SparkTeam. Maybe someone local needs these clothes, especially as intermediate sizes. I have three really nice professional suits (like LeSuit) in size 12, a few 10's, and a bunch of 8's - mostly jeans and casual clothing. There are even a few size 6s that are too big. I don't think I have any 12s or 10s left in my closet. I kept my favorite pair of size 8 bermuda shorts. They are a spandex blend that still looks good and feels great -- just a little loose. I kept one medium sized white high V neck shirt, but plan to look for one just like it only smaller. I have a dressy jacket that is too big, but I need to replace it before it goes. Enough details!!
So, I'm going to keep planning my food and giving away the big clothes because my confidence is growing as I'm shrinking -- I'll never be fat again!!

Mirage727 is right. It's time to let go. I've given away my 2Xs, 1Xs, 18s, 16s, 14s, 12s, and all but my most favorite 10's. But I've hung on to many 8s -- some I feel okay in, but many are way too baggy and unflattering. Most of the big stuff is winter clothing that I only wear a few days of the year here in central Florida; my summer wardrobe is pretty slim. So I'm picking up on Monty's challenge. I'm going through the closet today and giving away at least 25 clothing items that are too big. I'm never going to see those sizes again!!

I like to have a lot of reminders of my success around me to keep me focused and motivated. On my car key ring I have my Weight Watcher Goal Weight Star, 3 Keys to Lifetime (I lost one), a Fifty Pound Weight Loss Award, and two 5K awards. On my bedroom mirror I have my WW 2009 bookmark with 10 monthly lifetime weigh in stars and on my bathroom mirror I have my 2010 bookmark with 12 monthly lifetime stars. I had my 2011 weigh in star page (no bookmarks that year) copied and on the refrig, but I need to do that again and add my 2012 page. Will do. Do have some WW magnets on my refrig, some I just got in a drawing and a few I earned (Incredible! Awesome! Believe!) I have eight medals from 5Ks and a half marathon hanging in my bedroom. I love my Spark trophies and my screen name and my positive password, too - though I'm not telling that one! These are things that help me keep going, no matter what!
Today I choose a new reminder, perhaps a little more subtle, but significant nonetheless. At the gym I have now decided to use locker number four whenever it is available. It is on the bottom and not on an end, so it is often unused. But for me it is a reminder of my favorite size, Size 4. I'm feeling just so good in my Dockers Size 4 pants these days. I have 3 pair of them. They fit right below the belly button and hug my hips with no gaps in the waist nor the seat. Love those size 4's!!! I do feel slender and healthy in them. Funny, but I seem to eat better and workout harder on days I wear those size 4's compared to when I wear my size 8 jeans that bag in the seat and need a belt. Some people might work harder when they were feeling fat, but I find that I work better building on success. How about you?
PS I weighed 127.2 today, just 1.2 pounds from my target weight!

Sometimes when I don't blog for a day it's because I've not done well and don't have any perspective on it yet. I almost didn't blog today, but not because of any problems --just a busy day with 2 little girls for 10 hours. I was very active with the kids outside today. Weighed 127.6 this morning, just 1.6 pounds over my target. I'm doing fine on limiting sweets - both sugary and artificial. I pre-planned my meals and have stuck to the plan so far. I hit all my nutritional goals, except was over just a little on fiber and I'm not going to worry about that. I just have one evening snack left, and I expect to finish today strong and healthy!! Time to plan tomorrow's food.
Good night to all my SparkFriends. Sleep well.
