Never Going to See Those Sizes Again!!

Tuesday, March 05, 2013

Mirage727 is right. It's time to let go. I've given away my 2Xs, 1Xs, 18s, 16s, 14s, 12s, and all but my most favorite 10's. But I've hung on to many 8s -- some I feel okay in, but many are way too baggy and unflattering. Most of the big stuff is winter clothing that I only wear a few days of the year here in central Florida; my summer wardrobe is pretty slim. So I'm picking up on Monty's challenge. I'm going through the closet today and giving away at least 25 clothing items that are too big. I'm never going to see those sizes again!!

Take the plunge...I would rather have only a few clothes that really fit and flatter than lots that don't!

Hooray for truly embracing your identity as a permanently slim person. I admit that I've held onto some of my bigger clothes out of a fear of regain. I got rid of all of my bigger clothes after losing 115 pounds ten years ago and had to buy a new clothes as the weight crept back. Not this time! I'm not going back and have resolved to toss my 18s and 20s. I'm never going back there again!

Good for you-maybe someone else will benefit from your generosity. I have already taken in 2 bags and started a new pile-unlike you, I a anxious to get those bigger clothes out of the house-do not want the temptation to gain any of that weight back if they are there to slide back into!!

I had some beautiful career pieces in sizes 14 & 16 that I donated to a lady who ran a ministry to provide job interview clothes to ladies who couldn't afford them. I still own my size 12s, but they are too baggy now. I have been wearing 10s, but they are getting baggy on me now too. Being able to buy smaller clothes is the most wonderful reward for hanging in there with diet and exercise! I applaude your decision to go ahead and get rid of your large sizes. emoticon

Locker Number Four

Monday, March 04, 2013

I like to have a lot of reminders of my success around me to keep me focused and motivated. On my car key ring I have my Weight Watcher Goal Weight Star, 3 Keys to Lifetime (I lost one), a Fifty Pound Weight Loss Award, and two 5K awards. On my bedroom mirror I have my WW 2009 bookmark with 10 monthly lifetime weigh in stars and on my bathroom mirror I have my 2010 bookmark with 12 monthly lifetime stars. I had my 2011 weigh in star page (no bookmarks that year) copied and on the refrig, but I need to do that again and add my 2012 page. Will do. Do have some WW magnets on my refrig, some I just got in a drawing and a few I earned (Incredible! Awesome! Believe!) I have eight medals from 5Ks and a half marathon hanging in my bedroom. I love my Spark trophies and my screen name and my positive password, too - though I'm not telling that one! These are things that help me keep going, no matter what!

Today I choose a new reminder, perhaps a little more subtle, but significant nonetheless. At the gym I have now decided to use locker number four whenever it is available. It is on the bottom and not on an end, so it is often unused. But for me it is a reminder of my favorite size, Size 4. I'm feeling just so good in my Dockers Size 4 pants these days. I have 3 pair of them. They fit right below the belly button and hug my hips with no gaps in the waist nor the seat. Love those size 4's!!! I do feel slender and healthy in them. Funny, but I seem to eat better and workout harder on days I wear those size 4's compared to when I wear my size 8 jeans that bag in the seat and need a belt. Some people might work harder when they were feeling fat, but I find that I work better building on success. How about you?

PS I weighed 127.2 today, just 1.2 pounds from my target weight!

    Holy mackerel!
That is some list of achievements!
You should display them proudly.
I have recently stopped wearing comfortable stretchy clothes all the time and tried to put more effort into my hair, make-up, etc.
It was so easy to slide into that laziness the last year or two while I had some health issues and spent most of my time either alone with a 98 yr old (my elder care client) or babysitting my 2 and 3 yr old grandbabies. So, like- who cares what I looked like???
I noticed right away that I started feeling better about myself when I looked better!

No Problems

Sunday, March 03, 2013

Sometimes when I don't blog for a day it's because I've not done well and don't have any perspective on it yet. I almost didn't blog today, but not because of any problems --just a busy day with 2 little girls for 10 hours. I was very active with the kids outside today. Weighed 127.6 this morning, just 1.6 pounds over my target. I'm doing fine on limiting sweets - both sugary and artificial. I pre-planned my meals and have stuck to the plan so far. I hit all my nutritional goals, except was over just a little on fiber and I'm not going to worry about that. I just have one evening snack left, and I expect to finish today strong and healthy!! Time to plan tomorrow's food.

Good night to all my SparkFriends. Sleep well.

Easy Fun Run Plus

Saturday, March 02, 2013

The Galloway group I've been running with that does the run 2 min/walk 1 min was out of town, so I ran with my old 1 min run/1 min walk group. We went 5.6 miles, very easy. Two of the people I ran with did the Disney Princess Half Marathon last week end. Here are Jan and Karen at the end of the race in the tutus they made:

They said the race was really fun! 27,000 women and 2,000 men ran it. Don't expect your best time, they said, as frequently they could not get around other runners. A lot of people stopped to take pictures and Disney provided a lot of entertainment along the way. Runners have to pick up their race packet the day before and be in the assigned corral at 5am. They stayed in the All Sports Complex and took a bus to the corral start in Epcot. Each corral is started with fireworks. I'm still thinking I want to do this race in 2014 -- tiara and all. When you sign up you have to specify which princess you are representing. One of them was for Cinderella and one for Ariel, but their costumes were really generic princess. Not sure I could run in a tutu, but may have to try!!

After the group run this morning we had a 20 minute coffee and chat break. Then I went to the YMCA and ran over 5 more miles faster. I've been invited to participate in a virtual half marathon two weeks from today on the trail near my house -- the one I often cycle. There would be an actual group of us running, but the sponsoring agency is virtually present. Might just do it! 11 miles is the longest I've run recently, but I think that is good enough training to do a HM on short notice. A week from today is my three 5Ks. I'll be ready!!

Synchronicity

Friday, March 01, 2013

My Healthy Lifestyle Forever team has laid out a great challenge this month. In addition to exercise, tracking, and freggie goals, it set "Give yourself 10 points for following a meal plan for ONE MEAL each day" and "Give yourself 10 more points for each day you followed a plan for breakfast, lunch AND dinner"! Plus BONUS POINTS: Give yourself 25 points each day for staying at or below your calorie goal.

And then I went to Weight Watchers. WW is setting a "routine" for each month. (Examples: pack healthy snacks; have a fruit or veggies with each meal & snack) This month it is going to be about meal planning. Our assignment this week: "notice the number of times you know exactly what your next meal or snack will be."

So I've got encouragement and challenge toward meal planning this month. I'm really excited about it because meal planning has been a weak part of my program. Several times I have said I will end up the month with 4 weeks of meal plans with grocery lists. I have yet to do it. Not sure what my resistence is. During the time I was concentrating on The Beck Diet Solution I did plan my meals and snacks the day before, but once I was done with the book, I dropped that practice. (I started to say "habit" but I think the truth is, it didn't become habit.) Part of my challenge is my hubby likes to do the grocery shopping and buys a lot of sales items. But, like with many other healthy practices, if I am committed enough, I can find a way.

March is going to be a great month! Another step forward!!

Can you look at the sales ad before he goes so you will know what items he will buy and incorporate them into the plan? That's what I do, but I do the grocery shopping so I have a little more control.

Hope your having a great weekend!

IAMWINNING 3/2/2013 9:40AM

Marsha, you're an inspiration. I'm doing what I can about meal planning, but it is difficult because my DH cooks dinner 5 nights a week, and he often offers up fried potatoes (which I love) and other things not conducive to a good diet. I work around things as best I can. I do plan healthier meals for the weekends. emoticon

Since you planned things on the Beck Diet Solution, you know you can do it. emoticon

Another thing I've been doing is carrying snacks and water with me when I leave the house every day. This takes planning too but not quite as much. The idea is to eat a freggie with every snack. It helps to prevent hunger and really works!

Gosh well said....if it is important enough then we do somehow find a way.
Here is wishing you much success on this planning challenge. I think it is so helpful to plan ahead. I fill in my sparks food tracker 1st thing in the morning. I sometimes do change a thing here or there but for the most part stick with what I have already logged. It helps keep me honest. And I love the "pull down" feature of the sparks tracker for your favorites as I have now created a big list of the foods I eat most and can just pull down the list and check off what I am going to have. It's nice too to share the tracker. I have had many people thank me for logging and sharing as they have gotten tips that way.
Best of everything to you in this challenge, Marsha.
